The EU keys are working -- the NA keys do not at the moment -- current speculation is that Blizzard is going to do the full beta wipe/reset and then active the new NA keys at the same time which kind of makes sense. No point in having a bunch of new people come in and do placement matches if the wipe is about to occur.

Actually turns out I am wrong -- EU/Asia works, NA does not work -- Blizzard blue posters have acknowledged the problem and said its being worked on.

I meant I was wrong about the reasoning behind the keys not working -- it's not an intentional move to wait for the wipe, instead its another issue of some sort.

Soo I played terran vs terran.

He went straight for 4 command centers.

I went straight for air.

I was able to destroy 2 out of 4 of his unguarded command centers with my first attack. I kept probing him with my ships and completely paralyzed this guy. He had 4-5k minerals just sitting there for half of the game. I dont know if he didnt realize he wasnt building units or he was to concerned about trying to defend himself but he stopped producing units for so long that I just killed him with 1 command center to his 4. He was out resourcing me. I should have set up a 2nd command center.....oh well.

Nah, that's what makes them OP. You can get them within 10 minutes without really exposing yourself too bad. Granted, they aren't cheap and are easily countered by groups of marines or hydras. The problem is that most people simply don't see them coming and 4 of them can take out a command center in 15-20 seconds.

The terrain vikings absolutely own face. You do expose yourself to second wave rushes. But, from my experience, once you start attacking from different directions with them, the player cant concentrate in order to build an effective counted in time. It is absurdly easy to pick off expansions and get behind bases. Attacking both land and air is extremely OP.

Just managed to get the Beta and been playing a bit.

I don't know much about any of the new units(how do you get a queen early? Or one of those robotic mining dudes for terran?) But I just use all my old SC strategies and win most of the time unless my partner stinks. Considering I've had it for 3 days and only played maybe 12-15 games not to bad.

Terran - Block ramp quick tech drop then go metal
Zerg - Mass hydras or ling air. Early expand seems to still work too and then go air.
Toss - Heavy gates, or tech to drop/dt.

Died today to mass carriers as toss despite having quite a bit of anti-air from the stargate. I'm guessing there is something else better to counter or some type of caster unit that would have helped that I didn't use. Carriers seem strong as always and easy to mass quickly.

Fun so far, I like that it is just SC with better graphics and cleaning a few things up. No need to mess with something that was great in the first place more than that. Just my thoughts so far.

^ Queen requires a spawning pool. I think from what I've read, it's standard to get it around a 15 drone count. The "robotic mining dude for terran" or mule requires the command center to upgrade to an Orbital Command.

Incorrect. Proper micro makes carriers not a big deal at all if you have enough units (and if you don't that doesn't make carriers strong, just you weak). Carriers are 300/200 and take 140 seconds to build. If someone has more than 2 you have not put any pressure on them whatsoever.

Phoenix's are very weak right now but if that is all the AA you had you did something wrong. Lots of stalkers and some void rays properly micro'd make carriers a non-issue. Find some platinum level replays and you'll learn a lot.

i don't know if any of you know about this, but the past 2 days on attack of the show on G4 they've been giving away serial/key codes to this game. they flash it up in the background randomly somewhere. i guess you just have to be the first one to register it. i don't know if they're going to do it today or next week, but it might be worth checking out. it comes on at 7pm M-F, however i think the F episodes are weekly recap ones.

i think i remember them saying they were codes for a beta version or something. maybe not. i don't know anything about this game but i know they said starcraft.
