yep. It's all fun. It's not always sexual. I'm not exactly sure why the first thing some people think when they hear "furry" is "sex." It's not like furries are the only people who have sex, or even the only ones who try to do it in costumes.
And for many furries, its not even about dressing up or pretending. They just adopt a character, usually anthropomorphic in form, to reflect themselves, pretty much an avatar online, a "fursona" as netstorm explained. Many don't even have a full costume (fursuit). I don't yet. Just my ears and tail.

I would like to know why some of you were thinking its all about sex. That I don't get.

never heard of them. But there is a high proportion of gay males in the fandom, so not surprised by the existence of such a group. Personally I think they should call themselves something else other than NC State's mascot.

Sex sells, so the most sensational aspect of the fandom is what the media is going to report on... 95% of people who have heard of furries probably got the totality of their knowledge from some random news story about bestiality/zoophilia.

I guess I should have assumed people got all their info from the media. Sex sells, of course. I'm not oblivious to that fact. Most people love sex, and furries are no exception. I actually don't have a problem with the sexuality in the fandom.
But that just doesn't explain comments like this: "So what's the deal with the furries? I just don't get it. Can't people just have sex without having to dress up like a cartoon?" in reference to a picture of a girl wearing a tail outside, fully clothed except for shoes. Unless the poster of that comment was thinking about fucking her, why would the mind even go there?

As for dagreenone's folder contents, LOL. The butt plug and orca plush pic came from thread(s) on tww that he saved to his gallery for lols. If this thread wasn't posted you wouldn't have known he was was furry. It would be just another t-dubber's photo gallery. Nothing there gives him away as a furry.

My point was furry is not about fucking in suits. Though some people may do it, that is not what it is all about.

Here let me show you want I'm trying to say with a diagram:

On one side you have furry, and the other sex. These things certainly can overlap, but there is plenty furry stuff that does not involve sex. You are looking at the overlapping part and thinking that is the entire circle.

If furry is all about costumed sex, then I must not be one despite my involvement in the group. In fact, I don't personally know any furry who does it, and I know many furries.

Netstorm, I had a similar interest in furries when Canis Lupis posted that link in his profile in the free expression tunnel. I made a thread about it. He got called a dog fucker and a bearfucker about a dozen times and a bunch of yiff stuff got posted in that thread. I see it as a sort of psychological thing where you reject your real life self and associate it with a fantasy creature that lives a far more awesome life than your humdrum day to day.

I'd be more weirded out by the concept if it weren't for the fact that disney and hannah barbera and a shit ton of other animation studios fucking buried us in anthropomorphic animal cartoons as kids.
