Officially and according to the ACC, we finished in a tie for 9th...The tie breakers only come into effect for tourney seeding. Like how Maryland and Duke tied for the regular season championship, but duke gets the 1 seed b/c of tie breakers.

We played very un-NC State-like, especially in the second half:

-Zero turnovers in the final 20 minutes (after 10 in first half)
-We made our last eight shots
-Our defense was great at pressuring the ball all day
-We made clutch plays -- especially the two 3's by Horner

I said if we'd won this game, I'd be satisfied with this season. Well, I definitely am, but I can only imagine what our record would be if CJ had been playing like this all year.

good to see Johnny play well, on defense at least

he and CJW need to get all of Wood's minutes from here on out. Wood is a liability on both ends

Wood was an experiment gone awry. thanks for the performance against FSU, but enjoy the rest of your career as a role player off the bench

Wood is definitely not a liability. Him being a threat to shoot frees things up on the inside. Plus, he's got great instincts for a freshman. Rarely will you see him make a mistake.

That said, I wouldn't mind him coming off the bench in the tournament. He can be that instant-offense guy off the bench. Either bring him off the bench, or start CJW at SG over Farnold. Either way CJW needs to play more (so long as he keeps playing like this).

Let CJ put in a few more good games before we put him in the starting lineup. You guys sure jump on the bandwagon fast.

This is CJ's first game he has played this well. Wood, though he as struggled with his shot, makes the offesne work. He is smart and isn't selfish. Plus if they set him some good screans he could hit his set shot. He is a set shooter hence the double screen worked to perfection today. Also, he is good on D. He isn't quick but used great angles and is awesome at help defense.

^^He's had four good games in a row (admittedly not this good). What could it hurt?

^Wood is actually a lot quicker than most give him credit for, and he is a good defender so long as he's not guarding an ox

bingo! i support him as a spark off the bench. but it's no coincidence that his minutes have been cut big time since Sid finally realized what we knew all along -- that Wood can't play defense for shit

Thomas looked great on D and he was a rebound machine...and when CJ gets minutes, he scores

seems simple to me. Thomas or Williams in the starting lineup, Wood off the bench

CJ played ridiculously well today. When he's confident he can score, but he just hasn't been very confident all season. It was great to see Hodge getting up and helping to keep that "We want CJ" chant going when Leslie got up and acknowledged everyone. I'd love to see Hodge at more games.

Never forget the D-HORN. We were all witnesses.

I guess his performance against ranked Wake Forest was shit

if by making the offense work, you mean standing there with his thumb up his ass, then yes, yes he does

hence he needs to be the 3 point specialist off the bench. every team needs one and he could be ours.

we're still talking about Scott Wood, right?

Someone needs to take the time to go through your posts and find the one where you stated that CJ should never see the floor again. Scott Wood is a more viable 3pt shooter than CJ and is not a defensive liability. He plays consistent defense and has had some pretty amazing blocks (some were incorrectly called fouls) helping off of his man this year. You really must not even watch the game if you think wood is a defensive liability...

i will wholeheartedly admit that I was a big CJW basher earlier in the season. I still think his game is garbage....so me wanting him to take all of Wood's minutes says a lot about what I think about Wood

Seriously, I don't know where you get off saying Wood is awful at defense. He really, really isn't. Not even sort of bad.

He's going to be a great one for us the next few years, with Harrow and Brown penetrating and him spotting up for 3.

actually, i said Wood is a liability on both ends!

no only does he get burned and then resorts to the slap & grab defense, but on offense he still stands around like one of those retarded, skinny trees that you put in the corner of your living room

i made it a point to focus on Wood today, because I wanted to post about him after the game. i was on our shooting end during the first half, when he got most of his minutes. that SOB is no better than some of the guys I see playing at Carmichael

^^I think he must be trolling or he never actually watches a game. I expected scott wood to be a defensive liability and I was stunned when he actually ended up being a good defensive player. I think he is a better defensive player than CJW (CJ is more athletic but Wood is much more fundamentally sound).

i guess only time will tell. but it does say a lot that Sid's confidence in Wood has dropped significantly over the last month.

next year, Sid will have to choose between a pair of juniors, who are both athletes....or a sophomore who is a one-trick pony

ncstatetke....are you retarded?

and did you just call julius mays an athlete????? HAHAHA

plus...scott wood is the ONLY player on the team to play and start in every single game this season. even though he only averages like 7 points. I think that shows a lot of confidence in wood from sidney. his defense is very good. sid has said that he understands the defense better than anybody else on the team. he is one of the only people who can always get tracy the ball. you are incompetent.

what's wood's one trick, getting steals, or blocking shots?

I liked the double screen we ran for him earlier in the game where he came off and drained a 3...don't know why we haven't been doing this more often since he's a damn good shooter when he can catch and shoot with an open look...need to run some triple screens like the Hornets used to do with David Wesley

which of the three 3-star options will Sid choose? you better fucking believe i'll quote my post next March, right or wrong

nobody said he was one of the top shot blockers or steal guys in the conference...but you act like getting a block and steal every other game is a bad thing

the 3 point shot revolutionized how basketball is played...you can be down by 10 points and depressed, then hit a couple 3's and all of a sudden you're right back in the game...when Wood has space, he can shoot it with the best of them

I dunno, maybe I'm just not one to be pessimistic after a good win, especially when we've won 3 of our last 4 conference games

instant spark on offense....off the bench

whether or not he starts or comes off the bench depends on who else is on the team, how they are playing, how Wood is playing, how we match up with another team, etc...its not just some cut and dry answer obviously

i love how my rep on TWW is that of a troll. i really don't see where that came from. i'm opinionated, for sure, but I think of myself as a realist.

the reality is that Sid doesn't trust Wood right now, Wood has only scored double figures once in his last 14 games, while averaging 29 minutes per game during that stretch, and 6'7" 170 just ain't gonna cut it in the ACC

Didn't see the game b/c I'm in NYC - can you please tell me how Johnny Thomas gets 17 minutes of PT?

I mean, I like the guy, and he showed tons of potential early, but hasn't played at all this year and then last game he comes out of nowhere for 17 mins

JT's playing time is eerily reminiscent of Mays in the last game last year. Barely or don't at all play for like 10 games and then get twenty minutes out of nowhere with no more games to build on it. Strange...
