this year's opening ceremony, etc. is going to much more 'dramatic' and different than those in years past. Speaking on the whole weekend in general, the are pulling out a lot more stops than in previous ASGs. I feel like the league and other visitors to Raleigh will be impressed.

of course NBC 17 had to be the one that makes us look like ignorant non-hockey typical southern people. if the promo they are advertising for their 11:00 news is representative of what they are about to show, there's on lady that is asked what the all-star game banners are for and she says "is that the figure skating thing?"

what do you think the chances are of landing a ticket to the fan fair around 6pm today at the gate?

They are out at harris teeter, and I really dont want to pay $18 for a $10 ticket through ticketmaster if I dont have to

I don't think they are going to run out, they are just $10 at the gate instead of $8 at harris teeter.

are tickets to the fan fair sold out? or is it like a state fair thing where it's unlimited

i know that you have to have some sort of wristband thing for the draft but im not worried about that ... i just wanted to make sure if i went to a harris teeter they'd have tickets still

I went to the harris teeter up in north raleigh off of leesville road and the manager there said the only place that had tickets left as of lunchtime today was the HT on Western Blvd, but that he bets they are sold out by now

he said with a ton of confidence that I will be able to get tickets at the gate, they will just be $10 instead of $8 at HT.

I'm not sure that I would take the HT managers word as gold when it comes to something like this...but you can always find people scalping tickets to anything if you're willing to pay.

Just got back from the Fan Fare. The Convention Center and Fayetteville St. look really, really nice. Got a picture with the Cup and Aaron Ward's autograph. May head back down to the Wide Open tomorrow morning.

so i'm watching this draft...and i really hadn't seen a lot of these players out of uniform...
hockey players look a lot different than other athletes.. i didn't know cam ward was so skinny. the goalie pads make him look huge

The draft was definitely cooler than I thought it would be. I expected the playful banter back forth, but Marc Staal and Jontahan Toews were both pretty funny. I'm definitely glad Skinner and Ward got on Staal's team...I did not want to be torn if they got split up. And McBain is representing Staal's squad in the skills competition...that's pretty neat.

fan fair was AWESOME.
