if i stay in my current home or neighborhood here are where my kids are bussed to

turner creek rd elem - 17 miles away
salem middle - 14 miles away
green hope high - 20 miles away

all routes include I40

why would i want to stick my kids on a 45 minute bus ride and send them to school with a bunch of stuck up cary kids?

my kids are going to get the same public school education at either school they go to. the problems with test scores, behavior, etc. lie at home where they aren't pushed to achieve what they can achieve and aren't taught the difference between right and wrong.

just an opinion from someone that would actually have to deal with it...

This entire issue has absolutely nothing to do with the schools being out of money, the board majority hasn't even tried to frame it that way.

Individual schools pay nothing toward the free and reduced lunch program, that money comes from federal funds. Besides, with the board majority's plan, they will put even more free and reduced lunch children under the same roof (but really, the burden on the taxpayer for free/reduced lunch is the same no matter where these kids go to school).

I mean, I really don't think Tedesco would've agreed to it unless he was VERY sure that he's the better debater.
(And of course, it doesn't hurt that Tedesco's defending the legally and logically correct position, as well.)

I will be AMAZED if that happens. Rev. Barber is the worst flagbearer for the pro diversity crowd because he is far too interested in making this a purely racial issue and Tedesco has been less than effective at articulating his sides position for no other reason than the fact that he doesnt have a clear plan to move forward with.

Six more arrested at today's school board meeting. None were NAACP members. School board members looked visibly upset.

The majority voted to slash public meetings(and public comment periods) in half and eliminated many committees, which will make it more difficult for minority members to bring issues before the board.

So the proposed neighborhood school zones were just released and in my opinion, they really haven't solved one of their key problems. I see plenty of instances where kids will be traveling to a school that isnt the closest to their home.
