I liked what i saw from Obertan (before he got hurt), Macheda, and Chicharito tonight. Even Cleverly impressed, and that's huge, considering they were playing in front of 70,000+ people. No stage fright whatsoever. 7/29/2010 12:27:11 AM |

i thought chicharito miss-calculated that run on his shot that he had. he took a pretty poor angle, in my opinion. that's not to negate what he did, but i thought he could have done better on that opportunity. 7/29/2010 1:01:54 AM |

id be happy. for 10-15 mil pounds that seems to be great value with this screwed up city/madrid market now...he had a good world cup and united desperately need another creative midfielder as scholes cannot keep doing this, anderson will take a bit to come back from his injury, hargreaves is most likely done, and carrick is not good at all.
though one bright spot im seeing within the club is gibson as he scores from outside the box just as good if not better than scholes right now. if he could see the field as well and pass as well as scholes that would be beyond great for the upcoming seasons 7/29/2010 7:52:15 PM |

So here's my United starting XI (assuming no injuries), because I'm bored.
----------------Tony The Van Der Sar------------------
O'Shea----------Ferdinand-------Vidic-------------Evra
-----------------------Fletcher------------------------
Valencia---------------Rooney---------------------Nani
----------Chicharito--------------Macheda------------

Because he likes to drop back anyway.
I mean, that line-up could go to a 4-3-3 at the drop of a hat. Or 4-5-1. It's pretty flexible, and I think all of those players could play in different roles without any drop in quality.
And having him at the #10 position right behind two forward players could potentially solve a lot of problems for United.

i doubt chicharito or macheda would start over berbatov though, right?
ozil would be an awesome buy for them at that price. werder can't really ask too much for him, since he's out of contract after this season and he could walk for free next summer. he definitely fills the need of a creative mid for man utd though. 7/29/2010 9:25:24 PM |

i would honestly rather see chicharito or macheda start over berbatov. they are, from what ive seen, better finishers and much faster and more fluid than berbatov. if berbs wouldve scored a quarter of the misses he had last season he wouldve been the leagues scoring champ. hes great on the ball. but he just slows the team down and misses way too many chances. macheda is a great finisher in front of the goal and chicharito just came off scoring 2 in the world cup and was clocked as the fastest guy in the world cup too

Honestly, if those two boys step up, United are going to be a force to reckon with. I was REALLY impressed with both of them. They've got the same sort of speed that you saw out of the Ronaldo/Tevez/Rooney combo we saw in 08.
Plus Nani, Obertan, and Valencia?
Youth and pure, abject speed. 7/29/2010 9:46:32 PM |

Anyone notice how in English football everyone backpedals after making their "shocking" statement.
Quote : | "City did the same thing last season and finished fifth and I am not sure if they'll be any stronger this time. Spending a lot of money on new signings doesn't guarantee anything. There are still teams like Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool who will always be at the top." |
then
Quote : | "This year, we will be fighting with four good teams Manchester, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City." |
If you're gonna punk a team like that, don't be a bitch and go back on it saying they're a good team. It makes you look like a pussy. This is a continued trend in English football. Everyone's too [falsely] polite.

^ No one is backpedaling, those players aren't that stupid. The media takes their words and twists them up to make for a more shocking headline.
It'd be like if I were giving an interview and I was like "man I'm excited to play against elduderino. he's a pretty cool guy. I'm just worried about recovering in time from my broken ankle"
The SUN would get ahold of it and it would read kiljadn excited to give elduderino a broken ankle - calls him pretty 8/3/2010 12:51:08 PM |

has city even won a game yet? i know the friendlies are supposed to be to get players in shape, which the first problem is they have too many players to get them match fit. secondly, it doesnt help morale when you keep losing no matter who you play.

Stolen from a Chit Chat thread:
Quote : | "MOSCOW — The parasailing donkey will never fly again and can look ahead to a life of luxury.
The female donkey Anapka arrived in Moscow on Wednesday after her brays of terror over a southern Russian beach last month prompted a British newspaper to step in and buy her.
A recreation company had sent Anapka up into the sky for about 30 minutes for a promotional stunt and the YouTube video of her trip made headlines around the world. Upset readers of the The Sun had urged the newspaper to rescue her.
“Our readers were deeply moved,” Sun correspondent Garry O’Shea told the Associated Press. “We were contacted by thousands of readers. They wanted us to ensure the well-being of this animal.”
Anapka traveled from her small town by the Azov Sea to the Kremlin riding school outside Moscow, where her arrival was filmed by news cameras. The donkey was quickly surrounded by reporters and onlookers eager to stroke her.
The riding school’s chief veterinarian, Arina Stepanova, said the 17-year-old donkey was tired after her journey but showed no signs of serious illness.
Her new owners, meanwhile, are reviewing different options for a new home.
Harry Redknapp, coach of England’s Tottenham Hotspur football club, has volunteered to shelter the donkey in an animal sanctuary he is opening in Hampshire, O’Shea said.
The Sun also has received numerous offers to adopt Anapka, he said." |
So what are the chances that he's trying to replace Huddlestone with the donkey. Or do you just think it's so Peter Crouch has a friend on the team.
