oh oh ok

I do think you need an extension for that

So here's what I'm wanting to do with an extension.

I want to use Firefox's SQLite storage API to store more stuff locally. I'd like to regularly sync up with my database of NSFW threads and cache all the older ones on the client side to improve performance. I'd also like to build some private Facebook extensions into it.

I've been working on a new version of the Greasemonkey script, mostly focusing on breaking the code up into smaller libraries, refactoring, etc. I've added some additional voting options besides NSFW as well.

i have no clue about the feasibility of either of these, but....

bit.ly or other such way of shortening links over xxx characters so you don't end up scrolling side to side?

an auto-image resize that scales anything over a certain size?

I could shorten URLs, sure. The script already scales images to a maximum width of 84% of the viewport width.

Can you make it so any line in CB that contains the word "nudes" gets censored?

qntmfred when might you be implementing the side 3 code and layout

it's really good stuff from what I've noticed

you should also make it so there's quote button next to people's posts (for easier quoting)

that functionality is on pretty much all other boards I'm on

andddd you're not actually transferring ownership of TWW are you? was that just a joke or wut

recently this user script has not been blocking posts. It shows up properly in the section view, saying "a blocked user" under the "last post" column. It also hides threads created by blocked users. But the actual posts are shown, where before they were hidden, and "Click to show post" was shown.

What happen?

I've had some super happy fun time with Better Wolf Web; first, I fixed a slight styling issue in Opera (changing a margin-top from -1em to 0 so posts wouldn't jump up out of their boxes), and I papered over an issue with that forum combo-box on the forum pages, and I also discovered that although the "User Script Commands" box with the "clear blocked users list" still doesn't work in Chrome for some reason, it does work in Opera...however, I can't get the script to pull that JSON in Opera so it can discover which threads are NSFW, even though it works fine in Chrome...

(also I discovered that I can't upgrade the versions of jQuery or Sizzle and still expect the script to work)

Now on to the enhancements; first, I changed the URL for the Google MP3 Player, which has changed since the script was first created, and I also tried to force YouTube to use the old AS2 player (which will go away on 14 October 2012), as FroshKiller intended, even when the /embed URL is posted (additionally, I used HTTPS rather than HTTP where possible).

Next, I extended the number of mapping services whose iframe-based embeddings are left alone, and I added support for DailyMotion, Facebook, and MySpace video embedding, as well as the YouTube video shortener youtu.be, which I will try to showcase below...

The following three are different ways to get to that Trader Joe's song I posted about in this thread: http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=616416&page=4

youtube.com video-page
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdB7GDZY3Pk

youtube.com embed-page
https://www.youtube.com/embed/OdB7GDZY3Pk

youtu.be
http://youtu.be/OdB7GDZY3Pk

This DailyMotion user wants to know where he should shop if not Trader Joe's...
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xk83xq_if-i-can-t-shop-at-trader-joe-s-where-should-i-go-876_news

These people in Winston-Salem wanted a Trader Joe's so much, they made their own song about it...
https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1938406534484&oid=203286453041279&comments

This MySpace video isn't about that grocery store at all, because it gets old after a while.
http://www.myspace.com/video/ashley-pridgen/graduation-tattoo/23825862

I was about to also bring in Nico Nico Douga and Twitvid, but I decided to go ahead and let you know what I've done so far.

Anyway, you probably wanted the fruits of my labor, so here are the links...
Firefox: http://jansal.net/better_wolf_web_firefox.user.js
Chrome: http://jansal.net/better_wolf_web_chrome.user.js
Opera: http://jansal.net/opera/salr/better_wolf_web_opera.user.js
Also, the old link I had posted to an "Opera version" no longer works.

[Edited on June 23, 2012 at 12:21 PM. Reason : I eschewed the iframe embeds because they make a lot of annoying pageloads in the forum.

Okay, I fixed the problem with Google MP3 Player...by instead using a different and more extensible player: http://flash-mp3-player.net/players/maxi/generator/
See it in action here: /message_topic.aspx?topic=285622&page=697#15437545
I went ahead and downloaded the base player at http://flash-mp3-player.net/medias/player_mp3_maxi.swf and uploaded it to my own webspace (in case flash-mp3-player.net goes down) as http://jansal.net/player_mp3_maxi.swf because it didn't work when I used this tool to make a data: URI out of it: http://dopiaza.org/tools/datauri/

Another nice place for the SWF file to go to is lolibrary.org, and if it does get uploaded there I'll go ahead and 301 my own copy to that one.

Inspired by a recent playlist posting I made, I decided to start turning YouTube playlist URLs into embedded players; note that if it's a post like "youtube.com/watch?v=videoIDhere&list=PLCAFEBABEDEADBEEF" then it will be interpreted as a regular video-post; maybe some slightly more advanced regex hackery can extract the playlist ID where it exists and then build up an embed that starts off that playlist...in short, the quote on my user profile is def. true today: /message_topic.aspx?topic=628560#15437806

Why does this not work for FF? There is now a clone Greasemonkey extension for Chrome... likely might need to do some small mods.

^^and I've haxed it up a bit on this page

^^^I wasn't aware that I was a multiple
anyway, the domain is questionablecontent.net, and I imagine it's as simple as removing any img element with a href attribute containing questionablecontent.net

^^^^^^Try my haxed Firefox version, it has support for more video-hosts

^^^^^^^Try adding return; to the end of the line beginning with "function iFrame2Link() {"
or just comment out the 7 lines below that, right above the line that just has "}"

also if you've blocked me it's your loss, sorry you don't want help

So I'm late to the game here, and I don't feel like reading nearly 200 posts on the topic. But is it really necessary to highlight the NSFW threads? Can't we get something a little more subtle? I'd like to enjoy reading TWW without the people walking by instantly noticing that naughty threads in red.

you can edit the script and change the highlight color for NSFW threads:

find this line:

$('.nsfw').attr('bgcolor', '').css('backgroundColor','#ffb2b2');

and change the bold to whatever hex color code you want..

a slightly more subtle dark gray perhaps?

You need to edit the script and turn off the gunzzdegayifyer or however it's spelled. There's a post or two in this thread about how to do it. Basically, it blocks iframes and YouTube vids are embedded that way, so it returns the link instead.
