lets do...just odd that you would bring up the same discussion as armor which was legitimately and ultimately wrong.

now, if you wanna get back to the game this weekend...I'll gladly continue on with what I was ORIGINALLY talking about.

Thanks for responding to Wolfpack Unlimited.

The depth chart on the gopack.com site has been updated to reflect the proper classes of the special teams players as you can see at the following link: http://www.gopack.com/auto_pdf/p_hotos/s_chools/ncst/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/depth-chart

Hope you have a great week.

Secret TOB plot to build up interest for our game and pull some attention from all things UNC-CHeaters by pulling this out of his ass when the real plan is to let Haynes play one series then put in an actual RB???????????

Jt3 is incapable of rational thought

You should all know this by now, and even attempting to engage with him anymore just brings you down to his level

backingthepack.com reporting that Washington and Underwood will be a go for the UCF game and are just nursing nagging injuries before the real season starts.

That bastard is gonna be long gone by Saturday night. Maybe some lingering rain bands, but it wouldn't be the first time we've gotten drunk in the rain...

I feel like the Dean Haynes at RB experiment will either be a smashing success or an abject failure.

I hadn't checked this board all day and assumed this was some sort of joke. But holy shit ... Dean Haynes is our starting RB? That's something I never -- and I mean ever -- expected to read. He's fast and physical as hell though, so that's a start. But wow... time will tell I guess.

Glad to see Greene is making an impact on the 2-deep.

I don't have a problem with this.

a. he's a legit RB threat.
b. he's not and somebody else takes over.

I'd agree, except we pulled a player who I've heard was playing really well on defense and moved him to offense. Secondary isn't exactly a position of strength for us.

That said, I never really saw anything in Washington or Underwood that said "future starter," so I don't mind trying to upgrade the RB position. Still, pretty odd...

my reference to floyd wasn't for the damage, but the fact that it completely passed NC off the coast, and then looped around and directly came through, like taking the western-to-ncsu exit off the outer beltline

RJ looked fine walking around at meet the pack. Was a little surprised after getting used to seeing him on crutches for so long. Finally seeing the TOB line come together.

I don't understand how we could have two running backs on the top of the depth chart two weeks ago who are suddenly both neither even on the two deep. How does that happen?

Redshirt freshman Dean Haynes, who began the preseason as N.C. State's starter at boundary cornerback, will start at running back at 6 p.m. Saturday in the season-opener against Western Carolina.

Coach Tom O'Brien said Monday night on his weekly radio show that he was disappointed with the performance of N.C. State's running backs after the team's third preseason scrimmage.

Junior Curtis Underwood and sophomore James Washington, respectively, began the preseason as the first- and second-team backs, but O'Brien was unimpressed with their production after the third scrimmage.

Haynes had caught O'Brien's eye running the ball on the scout team last season.

"He opened a lot of eyes, especially on the defensive staff, so I had that in the back of my mind," O'Brien said on his radio show. (He refused to talk to reporters before and after the show.)

O'Brien felt comfortable enough with N.C. State's secondary to move Haynes to running back. As a senior at Northwest Whitfield County High in Georgia, Haynes played quarterback and running back, rushing for 878 yards and 18 touchdowns.

His announcement as the running back starter came as a surprise because O'Brien hadn't told reporters that Haynes had moved to running back. O'Brien said last week that he had made some position moves that the staff was evaluating, but he did not elaborate.

Mustafa Greene is Haynes' backup and one of five freshmen in second-team positions on the depth chart released Monday. Offensive tackle Robert Crisp, cornerback David Amerson and safeties D.J. Green and Dontae Johnson are the others.

Elsewhere on the depth chart, Jeff Rieskamp, who is returning from missing the 2009 season with a sports hernia, is starting at defensive end ahead of Michael Lemon. Brian Slay and Natanu Mageo are on the first team ahead of Markus Kuhn and J.R. Sweezy at defensive tackle.

Terrell Manning had held on to his first-team spot ahead of Dwayne Maddox at outside linebacker. Justin Byers is the starter at boundary cornerback.

^^Just disrespectful to our fanbase. How dare they wear the NC State jersey(which is a great honor) and drag the name of this great university into the news like that. Definitely not the "NC State way". Probably not a big deal. Should blow over soon.

Armstrong of WTVD said this on Twitter:
Quote :
"
NCSU LB Terrell Manning just compared frosh RB Mustafa Greene to CJ Spiller. Said Dean Haynes is 'physical'. Pass blocking won him this job.

Haynes eyes lit up when asked about blocking - 'I just love to hit people'. Kept stressing he did what coaches wanted, studied playbook

Manning added that Haynes is the kind of athlete who can play any position. My impression? Sharp kid who'll do exactly what he's told
"

Take it for what it's worth. Maybe Underwood and Washington got lazy?

I think it sounds like Underwood and Washington knew they were the incumbents to start at RB this season; they slacked off and didn't go all out in practice. They were giving up sacks left and right in the scrimmages and not protecting the QB well enough.

SO TOB said "I'm tired of this bullshit - I need someone who will block!"

Hopefully this will light a fire under Washington and Underwood. Our secondary sure could use some help from Haynes.

TOB did say that he wasnt happy and unsettled on the practice performances and he would make some changes....so i guess they did get lazy.

Or maybe they don't have the skillsets TOB wants

Not sure why they're automatically labeled as lazy because they didn't get a job they never had

But let's just assume some shit
