What section were you in dweedle? I was there too and saw a couple similarly themed shirts lol

Highlight of the day was after the game watching some Bear fan get argumentative with a cop directing traffic, ended up throwing a few drunken punches at the cop and then got tazzed on the ground

Glazer mentioned Smith to the Panthers being a possibility after the Moss trade. That, and it makes sense to let him go to the right team and make a run at another Super Bowl before it is too late.

At least we'll have a high 1st round draft pick and a full year off from a lockout to try and get our shit together. John Fox is gone, of course, and fire any personnel associated with the offense and special teams. This team, aside from the defense most of the time, is just horrendous to watch. Oh, and clausen is not anything even close to the answer at qb.

And you havnt drafted a decent WR since. D.Williams was also a 1st round pick.

best article I've read all year on the situation. Yasinskas calling out Richardson like Ribs has been since the offseason

Everyone criticizing Fox, and even Hurney to an extent, needs to read that article. I'm not always happy with them, but like the article said, they're playing with their hands tied.

Thought this was interesting particularly interesting...

Quote :
"...they haven’t signed a free agent of any significance since Mike Wahle and Ken Lucas back in the middle of the last decade. If there was a salary cap this season, the Panthers would be standing right about at $113 million. That’s not a particularly low figure in comparison to the rest of the league, but those numbers are misleading.

If you take away the $30-plus million in what ordinarily would be dead money, the Panthers would be slightly below the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have what would be the league’s lowest cap figure ($84 million), if there was a cap. "

& I blame the owner and management for the player situation, not Fox. I do blame fox though for the lack of play calling and overly conservative play style. [i]Maybe if we rush the ball up the middle 3 plays in a row, we will catch them off guard because they will not be expecting it .

Jon Fox football is boring to watch, even when we are playing somewhat decent. Last year during our 8 wins, all of our offensive drives were like scratching my fingernails on the chalkboard. Clawing and scratching our way down the field.

What really boils down is that Jerry Richardson sold out the team by betting on a lock out. Hence why Dwayne Jarrett was kept around (until fired last week) and Kenny Moore was released.

Probably already been mentioned, but the Panthers brought in WR Devin Thomas from the skins. At least they're trying to do something, I guess..

On paper, it's a hell of a move. Dude was the 34th pick in the draft 2 years ago and has serious game speed. I remember him back at Mich St in 2007 when he was essentially their entire passing game. He had some big games at the end of last year ... maybe he just needs a second chance.

But then you hear about Thomas clashing with Shanahan ... and his perceived laziness ... and then I think I'm not quite as thrilled.

the coaching staff still deserves plenty of blame, to be this bad you have to have failures at every level, it seems like the OC more than fox though, the guy seems to have lost interest in the run this yr and wants to keep on testing clausen's arm, and for some reason the o line just isn't trying as hard this yr and I still wonder what the coaches are telilng our qbs to have THREE SHIT QBS in a row

I dunno if Jerry is betting on a lockout, but he sure as hell is betting on the possibility, and he knows he needs leverage with the other owners that he wants to take the league back

Course if thats the case, why not just keep Jake (since they're paying him $11m this year anyway) even if its just to teach Clausen some intangibles

I still didn't think we'd be this bad, how do you lose to Tampa at home

I saw Tampa lay a complete beatdown of the panthers in 2005. Sad this game was the last NFL game my grandpa ever went to

how bad would it suck to go 0-16 and get the 2nd pick

Panthers/49ers will take the # of winless teams down to 2

the question is, can the Bills either beat the Lions or the Browns in Buffalo, cause I don't think they have a chance versus anybody else

I dont actually like Clausen

but you can't really gauge how good/bad he is going to be with him playing on this team.

Some analyst is suggesting that the panthers do this...

Sounds retarted in my opinion. Give up the only bright spot on our passing game.

lets trade Beason for a draft pick too

fuck partial rebuilding

implode the whole fucking franchise and start from scratch

thats what you people want, isnt it?

there's a world of difference between suggesting trading steve smith and trading jon beason, and you know it

note: i don't seriously think we should trade anyone, we probably will at least franchise DeAngelo next year. but if we would otherwise lose him for nothing, then yes trading him this year would make sense, Ribs, cause we aren't going to do shit this season. draft pick + further weakening our team and tanking for draft position wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

i guess the main difference is that we have other LBs that could step in for Beason, whereas Smith is literally our only receiving threat

so in fact we'd lose much less production if we traded beason than if we traded smitty

i'd rather trade Beason or Stewart than Smith, since the strengths of this team are our running backs and linebackers

thanks for unknowingly making my original point even stronger than i had imagined

Smith is on the wrong side of 30, and by the time this team is ready to contend again, he will be on the slippery slope to mediocrity. He's already the second best Steve Smith in the league.

It makes much more sense to trade him and get something in return ala New England and Randy Moss, rather than just see him get more and more frustrated as we struggle to find someone to get him the ball.
