Charles Oakley looks old w/ his grey hair

makes me feel old having seen him in his heyday with the Knicks in 94 beat the hornets (my 2nd ever game)

beat the hornets on the court

then beat the shit out of them in a fistfight

1 week ago, we probably had the least physically tough coach in the NBA

now we have arguably the toughest coaching staff in the league with Silas and Oak

-derek harper
-hubert davis (i think he hit a 3 from the corner)
-scott burrell

Darrin Hancock was a rookie either the next year or the year after that ... i remember he had a fast break dunk against the Magic in the season finale (it was an NBC sunday game, bill walton and hannah storm were there...bill walton wouldn't give autographs)

one time after a Suns game I got Kevin Johnson's autograph...but he asked me what 9 times 9 was first...when I said 81 he signed it...it always stuck with me that he was a good guy who cared about gets getting an education...even though he got some kind of sexual harassment charges when he was mayor of Sacramento haha

i was probably 11 or 12 years old...more excited about an autograph than being clever

i will say, i got a ton of autographs over the years at hornets games...best players were probably barkley and olajuwon...and i'll tell you what, olajuwon, aside from being one of the best big men and players in NBA history, was also really nice

also Ralph Sampson was really cool, he reached his long ass arm up to give me daps as he went into the tunnel after an injury...i've got some old card notebook (3x3 plastic pages for cards) with about 20 pages of autographs...even though there are duplicates like about 10 Armon Gilliam autographs lol...i need to scan some of them in sometime

although i should probably keep in perspective that players are probably more likely to happily give an autograph to a little kid, than if i tried the same shit now that i'm 30 years old although at the same time, i think its lame for an adult to go after autographs, though i still appreciate posing for a flick with a pro athlete / celebrity

Myra from Family Matters sang the national anthem at one game

in the 95-96 season, during halftime of a Raptors game one guy hit a shot from halfcourt and won like 250,000

just watched the end of the game vs. the Warriors ... what a shitty final playcall ... down by 1 with about 7 seconds left, Jackson just walks the ball up to the 3 pt line and tries to shoot in the guys face ...clank

ironic/whateverwordiscorrect that my previous post was about how Jackson can't miss from 3 in nba jam

did you see the play right before that?

Golden State has the ball, up 1, 14 seconds left...Dorell Wright is inbounding...can't inbound so he calls a timeout...then they get it inbounds, about 6 seconds go off the clock, and the Bobcats foul... but we still have a foul to give, so Golden State goes to inbound it again...before inbounding, Monta Ellis takes Gerald Henderson to the ground, offensive foul, Bobcats get the ball without having to foul

then Stephen Jackson does what dweedle said

Went to the my first Charlotte game against the Wizards on Saturday night. Bobcats played well, nice arena too. John Wall had some supporters in the crowd so it was nice to see them go home sad. Also when did Boris Diaw become a huge fatass??

^ he played well in the playoffs in 2005 i believe, signed a big deal in the offseason and came back 30 lbs overweight. He never really lost the weight and since we play him at center a lot I guess he really doesn't want to right now..

That's 3 straight and 5-2 overall since Silas came back.

We're currently tied for the 8th spot with Philly.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Charlotte-and-Memphis-brave-snowstorm-play-to-1?urn=nba-306047

Quote :
"There are quite a few NBA fans that wouldn't brave a clear and 72-degree day to see a game between the Memphis Grizzlies and Charlotte Bobcats, so you can't blame nine-tenths of the over 10,000 people that bought tickets to Monday night's Bobcats/Grizzlies game for staying home instead of braving the elements and taking in this classic.

Charlotte was reeling from a major snow and then ice-storm, and with an early tip-off and the specter of the NCAA college football championship playing in everyone's warm living room, just 1,000 diehards showed up for the Bobcat blowout win.

To call the showing sparse would be an understatement. The arena (which can be outfitted to hold 20,000 fans) echoed with every dribble. The upper tier featured a not-at-all-obvious curtain that blocked off the empty seats. Just one-third of Charlotte's dance team showed. And both players and coaches had to be warned to watch their language, as both the television mics and sparse crowd could hear every rude word with ease without the usual lip-reading involved.

And the game? The game was terrible. Memphis (especially if Denver decides to rebuild and trade Carmelo Anthony(notes)) has a real shot at making the playoffs out West, and the Bobcats actually made the postseason last year, but Memphis seemed ill at ease with the strange setting, and struggled throughout.

Though not as much as Bobcats guard Matt Carroll(notes). Who, charged with tossing a souvenir T-shirt into the "crowd" before the game, was left having to change his aim.

From the AP:

Matt Carroll's first hint was the curtains blocking off the upper deck when he came out for his pregame shooting routine. The effects of a rare Southern snowstorm really hit home just before tip-off when the Charlotte guard was supposed to throw a free T-shirt into the crowd.

"I was looking around and I couldn't find anybody," Carroll said. "So I said I was going to throw it up to a zone and see if someone can get it."

It's enough to make Bobcats owner Michael Jordan, wary of those lost gate receipts, pine for his days in warm and cozy Chicago, Ill. As if to rub it in, the Bulls will fly into Charlotte on Wednesday. Bring a shovel, Derrick Rose."

I remember going to a December Hornets game against the Warriors, I think. I know Jamison was on the other team, and it was during one of Doherty's terrible terrible bball seasons for the holes...there were about 1,200 fans that showed up that night at the Coliseum, and this was the Hornets, who had more fan support than the Bobcats do nowadays. We got to move down low to about the 5th row or so, and while Antawn was at the free throw line, I yelled out "How's your alma mater doing in basketball this year" and he looked over at me, and just kind of hung his head down and shook it to the side a few times. Lots of ABCers in the area laughed.

I loved the atmosphere myself. It was kind of like going to see a huge name band of musician in a small club as opposed to a big amphitheater.

and for everyone saying we should have taken Lopez over Augustin, there's one glaring problem with Brook's game

my scenario involved playing Lopez at the 5 and Okafor at the 4, in which case Lopez wouldn't have too much of a rebounding burden

i'm just saying, Cartwright didn't need to pull down 10 boards a game when Rodman was pulling down 19 a game

not that Okafor is as good a rebounder as Rodman
