like dweedle, i'd like to see us actually be competitive so there's some hope for next year, but ultimately lose. from a common sense perspective, absolutely zero reason to win anymore games. i'm sure the players don't see it that way though

no but they essentially took that fuck from app state with the 33rd pick since they traded their 2011 2nd round pick to draft him

you know how end-of-season shenanigans work

beast team rests everyone, doesnt care about winning (i.e. Saints last year at the end)

all this losing is the best thing that could ever happen to us, we've needed a QB ever since we stupidly gave up on Kerry Collins and what do you know one of the highest graded QB's in the past decade is sitting there for the taking... please don't fuck this up Panthers.

nah they used a pick last year on Clawlson, obviously don't need to draft a QB this year

we drafted 2 QBs last year...3 if you count Armanti

give Clausen 2 more years...if he doesnt work out try Pike for 3 years...if he doesnt work out try Armanti for 3 years

if none of them work out, we can trade our 2019 1st round pick to the Bengals for Luck, in order to bring in a veteran with 3 Super Bowl rings

by that time Jake Delhomme Jr. will have graduated from Alabama Birmingham and we can bring him in

if they get the #1 pick the best thing they can do...and knowingly will...is trade down.

^^don't forget that Delhomme will likely have been released on waivers by the Browns and we could get him back

"Clausen apologized to Panther linebacker Jon Beason after the game ended for his poor play. “I don’t feel that I’m playing to my level of capability that I expect from myself,” Clausen said later of his apology. “I thought that was the right thing to do.”

When told of this, receiver Steve Smith noted that Beason plays defense and then added regarding Clausen: “I’m the last guy to tell anybody to be apologizing. But if you’re going to apologize, you should apologize to people that’s in the huddle with you. But he has a lot to learn. He ain’t at Notre Dame anymore, that’s for sure.”"

are any coaches worth retaining? aside from the RB coach that DeAngelo apparently wants kept around (and the RBs actually do something when healthy)

Quote :
" The Panthers got some “help” in terms of the No. 1 pick in the 2011 NFL draft when Buffalo and Detroit both won on Sunday.
That leaves Carolina (1-11) as the only one-win team and Cincinnati (2-10) as the only two-win team. Buffalo, Detroit and Denver (all 3-10) are the only three-win teams. As of right now, the Panthers would pick first in the draft and the Bengals second based on overall record. The tricky part, however, will be figuring out who picks No. 1 overall if the Panthers win this week against Arizona and the Bengals lose out against Cleveland, San Diego and Baltimore.
If both the Panthers and Bengals finish with two wins, the tiebreaker is the overall strength of schedule (SoS). In that scenario the team with the “easier” schedule picks first. In other words, the team whose opponents have a worse combined winning percentage.
As of right now, the winning percentage of Carolina’s opponents is .574 (96-71), which is lower than that of the Bengals (.595) giving Carolina the edge. But here’s where it gets interesting. The Bengals have a weaker schedule down the stretch with their final three opponents having a combined record of 20-18, while the Panthers’ three opponents have a combined record of 25-14. So if you figure in those games (and you will have to before all is said and done) the Bengals would actually have a narrow edge over the Panthers with their opponent’s winning percentage being .582, which is just a little weaker than Carolina’s (.587).
Of course what other teams do around the league the next three weeks will impact those winning percentages.
If you’re a Panthers fans hoping for the No. 1 overall pick – and a chance at Stanford QB Andrew Luck — you should really be rooting for the Panthers to lose out so there’s no doubt at all who picks first. But if the Panthers happen to beat the Cardinals on Sunday then go ahead and root for the Bengals to lose, as well as all of the teams the Panthers have played this year.
If for some reason the Panthers and Bengals finish 2-14 this season with an opponent’s winning percentage being exactly equal, then the first pick would be decided by a coin flip.
In any event it should be interesting."

tl:dr We HAVE to lose this game vs Arizona

that's BS, the tiebreaker should be the head-to-head game they played (if available), which in this situation it is bc the Bengals beat the Panthers
