Wife's line is eligible, so we're gonna go look at the Android phones and see if there's one of those she likes better. If not, we'll get her an iPhone. She likes the Swype input on my Droid, so there's that, but she'd also like to be able to have all her iTunes music with her (and she can quit putting god-awful music on my iPod).

She'll probably get the iPhone.

Wonder if when they announce the iPhone 5 it's going to be delayed on Verizon. Like it comes out on AT&T this summer than takes another 6 months for a CDMA version to get released. Don't know why anyone would get a iPhone 4 on Verizon if it's only EVDO. Might as well wait a few more months and see if they're releasing the iPhone 5 for Verizon's LTE alongside AT&Ts.

ha apple could slap their logo on a pile of shit and the fanboys would still buy it. And then they'll whine next year if the new one is released because they don't have annual upgrades anymore.

Quote :
"Verizon iPhone: $30 Unlimited Data
By Roger Cheng

It’s official: Verizon is going to offer iPhone buyers a $30 unlimited data plan. The carrier’s heir apparent and chief operating officer, Lowell McAdam, told us the news ahead of the company’s meeting with investors.

“I’m not going to shoot myself in the foot,” he said. Not offering an unlimited plan would put up a barrier for customers who might otherwise switch from AT&T, he said. The country’s No. 2 carrier still has millions of subscribers grandfathered into unlimited plans they signed up for before AT&T switched to tiered pricing last summer.

Mr. McAdam certainly doesn’t want to miss out on any sales now. Anticipation Verizon would soon offer the iPhone held back sales over the fourth quarter, he said. Analysts seemed happy with the subscriber growth, but McAdam wasn’t. “It wasn’t what I hoped it would be,” he said."

As slow as Verizon's 3G is, can you even download much more than 2GB in one month's time?

They are going to probably go like the PS3 did on ebay....$austrailia

Verizon is not doing any discounting or ineligible upgrades on it so people who cant or don't want to add a line are up shits creek. Everyone is also expecting them to go in to backorder so if a rich guy wanted one by valentines day once the stores are out he is out of luck, unless he finds one on ebay with overnight shipping.

It's amusing looking at some of the ebay listings. Only $200 for the phone but shipping is $700 bucks+. Sure ebay will catch on before too long.

When I sold my PS3 on ebay the shipping really was over $100 (free overnight, saturday deliv, $700 of ins, pretty much everything they offer) I put in the ad free shipping but sold it for $2300.00

why are they going for so much on ebay (other than people are retarded). if you dont have the upgrade you can still buy the verizon iphone for like $700 according to the apple/verizon stores.

other than the no contract thing i guess...but really who cares at that point?

at&t business just called me trying to butter us up. our contract is up june 26 & we have 7 iphones with them. they offered a whopping 8% discount on iphone 4 if we sign a new 2 year contract. WOW

we're jumping ship at june 26 if iphone 5 is out, or as soon as it is out after then.

"Verizon Wireless has Record Sales on First Day of iPhone 4

Available to General Public on Feb. 10
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Feb. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- At 8:10 p.m. EST yesterday, Verizon Wireless ceased online orders of iPhone 4 to existing customers and ended the most successful first day sales in the history of the company.

"This was an exciting day," said Dan Mead, president and chief executive officer for Verizon Wireless. "In just our first two hours, we had already sold more phones than any first day launch in our history. And, when you consider these initial orders were placed between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., it is an incredible success story. It is gratifying to know that our customers responded so enthusiastically to this exclusive offer – designed to reward them for their loyalty.

"I am proud of our employees who worked tirelessly to strengthen and scale our systems, enabling unprecedented customer orders through our website. Overall, it was a very good day," he added.
Mead also said customers will have another opportunity at being among the nation's first to own an iPhone 4 on the Verizon Wireless network.

"Yesterday's launch set the pace for next week when we open up sales to everyone across America."

The general market launch of the iPhone 4 on the Verizon Wireless network will occur on Feb. 10. The company will open its more than 2,000 Verizon Wireless Communications Stores at 7 a.m. It will also be available at all Apple store locations, Best Buy, select Wal-Mart stores, and online at http://www.verizonwireless.com and http://www.apple.com.

"Verizon Wireless strives to provide customers the best experience when using our network, a shared resource among tens of millions of customers. To help achieve this, if you use an extraordinary amount of data and fall within the top 5% of Verizon Wireless data users we may reduce your data throughput speeds periodically for the remainder of your then current and immediately following billing cycle to ensure high quality network performance for other users at locations and times of peak demand. Our proactive management of the Verizon Wireless network is designed to ensure that the remaining 95% of data customers aren’t negatively affected by the inordinate data consumption of just a few users.

"We are implementing optimization and transcoding technologies in our network to transmit data files in a more efficient manner to allow available network capacity to benefit the greatest number of users. These techniques include caching less data, using less capacity, and sizing the video more appropriately for the device. The optimization process is agnostic to the content itself and to the website that provides it. While we invest much effort to avoid changing text, image, and video files in the compression process and while any change to the file is likely to be indiscernible, the optimization process may minimally impact the appearance of the file as displayed on your device. Ditto. Somehow, we're still on the 150MB data plan? Not sure how that is. I had to call to activate it on her line, so I don't know if something got lost in translation or something. We'll see what happens.

nah, you could keep it if you were on it previously. There was a notice saying you'd have to call in and have them revert it so I'm surprised it stayed.

Hmm, I was under the impression you had to take the unlimited data. interesting. I'll probably monitor her data usage the next week or so and decide from there. she had a blackberry before, but she's not a heavy data user, anyway.

aha, checked it this morning and she already blew through 15MB in less than 5 hours (which is high for her), so I've already switched it.

question...the CS rep I talked to last night (to swap the upgrade from one line to the other) took the phone off the upgradeable line, activated the iPhone then made the swap to my wife's. She then put the other phone back on the original line.

Couldn't do a *228 b/c the phone was dead and I didn't have the charger. She told me to do the *228 ASAP b/c it would make it seem like the line was disconnected. It still shows up on my account as the right phone, however. Seems like the *228 part is unnecessary.

If she switched back to the same phone that was there previously you can probably get by without reprogramming the device. They just changed the serial number in the billing system and then changed it right back. The only thing I can think that would possibly get screwed up in the time it took to do that is a blackberry. If its a regular phone I would not worry about it.

I like to think people finally came to their senses and stopped needlessly lining up, but that's giving Apple fans too much credit.

They love standing outside those damn stores for some reason.

HOLY MOTHER OF FAILED PRODUCT LAUNCHES

It is front page news how few people showed up in NYC and San Francisco.
