^^ No duping, I just know where to get everything I need for a build. And leveling up fast is easy without any duping or trickery. There is plenty of etiquette in Dark Souls PVP, but you can still run into griefers quite often, and some time not, just depends on where you decide to host/invade for PVP Lag pisses me off sometimes too, but oh well its happens.

My current favorite current Demons Souls build that I love is the Hiltless with the Adjudicators shield, the Regenerators Ring, and Kunai throwing knives. Everything else can be anything reasonable to go with this build.

I had something simliar to that. A faith build with the Mirdan Hammer, Large Sword of Moonlight, and Ancient King's Armor (with the same shield and ring). I used a faith build again in Dark Souls and thankfully Wrath of God was ridiculous. I took out the player and 2 phantoms in Anor Londo in the room with the bonfire spamming WOG.

Beat it last night. Man what a fantastic game. I don't think I sat down the entire 49 hours I clocked because it was so tense.

I'm going to take a little break from it because I have a backlog of about 6 other games I want to play, but I will definitely be coming back.

Can't decide if I want to NG+ with my sorc, or roll a new knight/hunter/melee character and approach the game from a completely different side. Some of the boss fights I can't imagine without ranged magic.

And while I would love to 1000/1000 this game, I do not feel like taking the time to do all of those weapon reinforcements and just farming non-stop chunks.

I've been having a great time replaying Demon's Souls lately. Think I might go for another round with Dark Souls after I'm through here.

One of my last characters that I made with Dark Souls was a low level faith build. I went straight to join the Warrior of Sunlight covenant and start chucking lightning bolts all over the place. I had a hell of a good time with that character.

I tried using the blue eye orb a billion times and it rarely worked. Maybe they have patched up their servers. I haven't touched this game in a while.

Finally got into the darkwraith cov, and I'm just getting worked in PVP. Don't know really the best method to go about this.

I know that you are able to invade any level above you, so I don't know if I'm just getting unlucky or what. I am at SL49, with an almost fully upgraded elite knight set and divine +5 claymore. One was a pyromancer that just completely cooked me, and the other two had giant two handed weapons that within two swings I was completely gone. My hits did barely any damage.

I'm guessing I just need to go through the rest of the game to get some better equipment, and I was thinking about changing the claymore either to +10 fire or +5 chaos to get higher damage. Originally I was going to go +5 occult but I've read it doesn't do as much damage, even with the faith scaling. I'm on a faith build right now.

"Dark Souls announcement on the way

By Eddie Makuch, GameSpot Posted Mar 21, 2012 5:57 am PT

Namco Bandai reveals announcement planned surrounding 2011's role-playing game, asks gamers to "Like" Facebook page to reveal info sooner.

Namco Bandai is planning an announcement surrounding last year's role-playing game Dark Souls, the company has announced on the title's Facebook page.

Unlike Dark Souls, "Liking" the game's Facebook page is easy.

A new update on the site reads, "An announcement is coming!" with the publisher asking fans to "Like" the Dark Souls page to reveal the information sooner rather than later.

In January, a source "close to the project" said developer From Software was "finishing up" Dark Souls downloadable content, with a release expected in the first quarter of the year.

Dark Souls was released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in October 2011 to a glowing critical reception. It went on to ship more than 1.5 million units worldwide and was October's sixth-best-selling title.

Despite its success, a Dark Souls sequel is in question. In February, From Software creative director Hidetaka Miyazaki apologized for bugs in the game, further noting he's not sure if the studio will make another entry in the Dark Souls universe. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's review.

I will be purchasing that DLC. I have not enjoyed a game this much in a long time. Skyrim is still sitting in the shrink wrap because I don't want to quit playing.

Also, if any of you have not seen the dark souls speed run...I suggest you watch the dark souls speed run.

Don't worry, you only need ONE HOUR AND A HALF.

DLC is a great idea but it sure has been used improperly as a way to price gouge the public. The only DLC I have purchased that was worth it was Undead Nightmare for RDR. I have been avoiding it like the plague recently. I'm sure FROM will get it right and not try to get a quick buck for miniscule content.

oh i'm the same way. The only dlc I have ever purchased are some additional episodes for you don't know jack. Other than that, nothing. I think it's a horrible practice, along with pre-order bonuses and online passes.

But that's another story.

I'll buy Dark Souls DLC, becasue I will honestly say this is the most 'complete' game that I have ever played. Nothing feels unfinished about it, and it has so many nauances to it its ridiculous. Namco really outdid themselves with this beast of a game.

PRAISE THE MUTHAFUCKING SUN

Quote :
"From Software Confirms Dark Souls Sequel

Dark Souls will get a sequel, according to From Software.

It’s not necessarily surprising news, but it’s certainly good. From Software has confirmed that a sequel to its instant cult-classic, Dark Souls, will haunt our gaming future.

“Of course, it’s not over yet,” From Software’s R&D head Masanori Takeuchi told GameTrailers.

“We’ve always been enamoured by dark fantasy action RPGs. That’s just been our core DNA and I think we’ll continue to utilise that.”

“We’ve always been about making games for the core gamer, and they weren’t necessarily games that did well financially, which is too bad,” executive producer Eiichi Nakajima added.

“The success of both Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, which have each sold over a million [units] per title worldwide, has made us shift our thinking internally to not just core gamers, but to globalise our products, that they can be successful on a worldwide scale.

“That’s now one of the key pillars we consider when we develop games in the future.”

I’m of two minds on a statement like this. While I’m always very happy that games are reaching a wider audience, a game like Dark Souls is popular in part because it appeals to very hardcore gamers first and foremost, even at the expense of turning away more casual gamers.

With RPGs especially, the tendency to dumb down and simplify is a strong one. Even a wide-open game like Skyrim has been criticized for going this route compared to earlier Elder Scrolls titles such as Morrowind.

If anything, I hope the games become even more challenging in the future. Some elements of Dark Souls still feel unbalanced. Weapon progression, in particular, could use some balancing. I have few bad things to say about Dark Souls, however. Few games have given me such a lovely mixture of pleasure and rage.

From Software certainly appears to know what they’re doing, and I for one look forward not just to sequels, but to the upcoming PC port which may fix my second big gripe with the game: Blighttown’s evil frame-rate.

friggin awesome.

Beat Dark Souls twice and loved every minute. Probably won't pick it back up until the DLC, but will definitely keep my eye out for this.

The PC port will be interesting, because I'm betting any secrets that haven't been revealed will come spilling out of the inevitable hacking of source code.

I feel like Dark Souls has ruined most other games for me. They don't feel nearly as complete or satisfying as Dark Souls did.

"Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition Set to Make a Whole New Audience Cry

What we want in the PC version of 2011's premiere death simulator.

By 1UP Staff, 04/11/2012

Share it: PC gamers who have spent the past six months preparing to die can now rest easy knowing that one of 2011's finest titles is coming their way. The Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is set for release on August 25, and the extra content will focus on an episode called "Artorias of the Abyss," which will offer new areas, enemies and bosses for players to swear at when they get consistently slaughtered. In honor of this announcement, we've rounded up our resident Dark Souls masochists to share their hopes and fears for the PC port.

Bob Mackey, Associate Editor

As the owner of a fairly powerful gaming PC (that's aging by the day), I'm very excited to see how From will iron out some of the technical bugs of Dark Souls with the help of advanced video-processing horsepower -- that is, if they don't completely botch the port. While Dark Souls certainly has some impressive visuals, a few of the areas (Blighttown in particular) suffer from some pretty awful frame rate drops, making these particular parts of the game very unpleasant to play through. A PC port of Dark Souls could provide a solid 60FPS experience the whole way through, which makes for a tantalizing proposition, even for folks like me who've already sunk 100-plus hours into the thing.

A PC port could also provide the opportunity for Namco-Bandai to work out kinks in the multiplayer, which paled in comparison to Demon's Souls' thanks to the lack of a dedicated server; it's doubtful that the PC gaming community will tolerate the often-endless waiting forced on players of the console original. And while I'm not the biggest fan of DLC, a new release of Dark Souls could give from the opportunity to create a handful of deadly new levels, or sand down the rough edges of the ones that feel a bit incomplete. Whatever the case, this release means that more people will be exposed to the game, making a third entry in this series a given at this point. So long as From doesn't betray their unspoken Souls mission statement, I'll be happy.

J. Kartje, Community Manager

Dark Souls is one my favorite games of this generation. One of the reasons for that is how it is such a complete game. You weren't tempted by DLC, there weren't any glaring technical issues (besides Blighttown), and it felt like the game was finished. It leaves you wanting more -- and that is a good thing. Whenever we discussed the possibility of DLC or sequels I would argue that it just doesn't feel right for this game. Maybe I'm being a bit of a purist, but when it was rumored that Dark Souls might be ported over to PC, it seemed like a perfect opportunity for the developer to correct the few flaws in the game and add a dash of new content.

One thing that I hope gets updated in the PC version is the Blighttown frame-rate issues. It was difficult to argue that this was game of the year (I still vehemently did) when the game would chug throughout the entire poison filled wooden plank-walking area. Another critique I had at launch was that some of the weapon/stat scaling didn't seem that significant. But this got changed with the comprehensive 1.05 patch. I hope that all of these changes get carried over the PC version. In the end Dark Souls is a game I think anyone that considers themselves a "hardcore" gamer should play. I am ecstatic that it is opening up to another audience. The only question that remains is whether or not the additional content will be available as DLC for the rest of us early adopters.

Marty Sliva, Associate Editor

I honestly shouldn't be this excited for Dark Souls PC, considering that my only computer at home is a Toshiba Netbook that can barely run Solitaire without crashing. That being said, I'm just stoked that the Dark Souls conversation can be continued with its arrival to a larger audience. The punishing difficulty and strict rules are facets that PC gamers have grown accustomed to throughout years, so I have no doubt that the Dark Souls love will continue onto this new platform. I'm also interested to see how the mod community takes to the game; will the rigid logic of the game welcome changes, or will tweaking any aspect of Dark Souls break the experience?

While Skyrim may have garnered the most attention upon its release, Dark Souls is the game that people in the office are still talking about some six months after launching. Merely speaking the name of a location from the game causes multiple editors to remove their headphones and start talking about their experiences in an excited tone. Just the other day, J. mentioned that he had just reached The Duke's Archives on his second playthrough, and a number of us immediately began sharing our stories of descending the stacks, fighting Seath the Scaleless, and accidentally killing Big Hat Logan. The idea of a fresh audience being able to earn their stripes through the world of Dark Souls excites me more than any additional content that FromSoftware is creating for this version of the game.

"Dark Souls haunting PC this summer

Email Content-buffed Prepare to Die edition of 2011 role-playing game confirmed for digital and retail release on August 24 on Windows machines.

From Software is bringing its 2011 role-playing game Dark Souls to the PC this summer in the form of the Prepare to Die Edition, publisher Namco Bandai announced today. Due out worldwide on August 24 at retail and via digital distribution outlets, the game will feature additional content.

Dark Souls invites PC players to die this summer.

According to Namco Bandai community manager Rich Bantegui, part of the new content is a Manticore-like monster to tackle, which takes the form of a winged creature with a lion face and horns. This beast is highlighted in the game's trailer, embedded below.

[UPDATE] Namco Bandai has confirmed that Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will arrive worldwide on August 24. Additionally, the publisher revealed the game will include an "enhanced" PVP mode, where players can "more closely" create battles against eachother.

Further, From Software is bundling a new chapter in the Prepare to Die Edition of Dark Souls. The game will ship with "Artorias of the Abyss," which will include new areas to explore, enemies to defeat, and bosses to battle.

Dark Souls was released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in October 2011 to a glowing critical reception. It went on to ship more than 1.5 million units worldwide and was October's sixth-best-selling title.

So is this extra content going to be DLC for everyone else? I want to keep dying!

I'm also curious about the "enhanced PvP" they are talking about. Hopefully they aren't changing the way it works, but maybe just tweaking the math behind the scenes on invasions and maybe the gravelord cov will work better

Dex builds are my fav since I LOVE Bleed weapons for PVP. Honestly, the Uchigatana is my fav dex bas weapon, and the Ricard's Rapier. You can hold up your shield and using a rapier (I like to make them lightning), but I like to two-hand the Uchi with the grass-shiled on my back, make it +15 and buff it with lightning its a beast. There are many other good dex weapons - washing pole for example - and if you are to play it put all of your point in Dex until you get to 40 right off (start with character that has highest dex, I think the wanderer maybe) you won't regret it.

Also, join DarkMoon and get the Darkmoon Blade is the best buff in the game for any buffable weapon.

^ with my sorc build they went down easily on the first try. With the faith build however, it took some time. Plus, I was trying to keep my SL around 40 until I was in darkwraith so my miracles weren't as powerful as they could have been.

Hate to say it, but ended up cheesing them with iron flesh and power within while wearing stone armor.

I hear the PC port wasn't the best. Something about locked in at 30fps (some people flip over this) and surprisingly locked in at 1024x720 resolution.

Did some red soapstone pvp last night in the burg for maybe the second time ever.

I gave the whole "honorable duel" thing the benefit of the doubt and proceeded to get 1 shot backstab fished or WoG'd all over the place. Should have seen this coming. Going to have to start pulling out the dirty moves myself I guess.

If you have PC version this fix will give you 1080p!

http://blog.metaclassofnil.com/?p=101

From an article by PC Gamer posted by Steam:

http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/08/24/dark-souls-mod-fixes-prepare-to-die-edition-resolution-problems/?ns_campaign=article-feed&ns_mchannel=ref&ns_source=steam&ns_linkname=0&ns_fee=0

And also, I have started 3 games now and none of them saved to my hard drive and I had to start the game from scratch all 3 times. Is there something that I am doing wrong, I have never experienced this problem with any Steam game.
