couldve been the end of the 7th, ie about 3 hours or more with no drinking
although Philly might do it different, they might give out free beers in every extra inning 5/26/2011 1:24:52 AM |

Quote : | " DENVER -- Authorities say a 27-year-old man has died after he fell while sliding down a stair railing at the Colorado Rockies' stadium in Denver.
The Denver coroner's office identified the man Thursday as Robert Seamans of Pueblo.
Police spokesman Sonny Jackson says the man fell about 20 feet onto concrete during the seventh inning of the opener of a doubleheader Tuesday at Coors Field.
Witnesses told police the man was trying to slide down the staircase railing, lost his balance and fell, striking his head. The stairs lead to the center field seats.
The Rockies released a statement saying "our thoughts and prayers are with the young man" and his family. " |

Crazy how one small error can blow up a whole game. What should of been an easy dbl play ends up sparking a 5 run rally and costing us the game. 5/31/2011 10:51:44 PM |

Ok let's do away with fan voting please. 6 Yankees leading the all-star voting at their positions? Come the fuck on. Derek Jeter has become Cal Ripken 2.0 I know and will always get voted in. They don't even have the best record in the league and outside of Granderson, most of these guys are putting up average numbers. 6/2/2011 1:20:15 AM |

Yeah, I think it has a lot to do with the fact that MLB teams field a ton of teams (summer ball, low A, high A, AA, AAA, major league team). 6/9/2011 3:00:14 PM |

honestly, what's the point of a 7 round draft? if teams still want players, let them keep drafting. and mlb franchises need a lot of players.6/9/2011 3:49:12 PM |

A number of late rounders get drafted to field organizational teams with no intention of ever being brought up to the Bigs. 6/9/2011 8:04:47 PM |
NyM410 J-E-T-S 50085 Posts user info edit post |
^^^ which is such a simplification it isn't worth commenting on, but I'll humor you.
The draft is very important. Even the Yankees don't have the budget to buy ANYONE they want. They use the draft and shrewd trades to have 10-15 players on their 25-man roster who are pre-arbitration or arbitration eligible that they don't have to pay exorbitant amounts of money too.
Also, the landscape has totally changed in that the elite players are now being signed by their draft teams and buying out their first few years of free agency. It's harder and harder to just go out and sign teams of FA's. They have to give up prospects to get players before paying them. 6/9/2011 8:10:12 PM |
hey now Indianapolis Jones 14975 Posts user info edit post |
Heard a rumor on the radio the Mets intentionally drafted players early who will go to college just so they don't have to pay them. (Thanks to Bernie) 6/9/2011 8:48:27 PM |
