Moxley is pretty good. IIRC he left Maryland pretty soon after getting there because he highly disliked Gary Williams.

Moxley helped land four Top 20 recruiting classes for the 49ers and was instrumental in signing 2001 ESPN.com National Freshman of the Year Rodney White and 2003 All-Conference USA choice Demon Brown. Moxley helped attract Maryland's 18th-ranked 2006 recruiting class (Rivals.com) and recruited 2010 ACC Player of the Year and 2010 NBA first round pick Greivis Vasquez.

In 2008, HoopScooponline.com ranked Moxley 44th among the nation's top 100 assistant coaches. In 2007, rivals.com ranked him as one of the Top 25 recruiters in the country, and Basketball Times ranked Moxley 10th in its top 16 "Friends of Junior Colleges".

he really didn't, i'm not sure what that was about.

there was that rumor that he was doing some real shady business recruiting... but that only makes me respect him more.

the rumor is that Gaudio, amidst his other problems (team chemistry falling apart, late season collapses, poor rep as an in game coach), had some extracurricular activities going on at Wake similar to Gottfried at Bama

then again, it seems like every mysterious firing has that rumor go around

Why does everyone want Dino? He left wake with the worst team in the acc, his teams sucked in the post season, and none of his players liked him...

^^ You do understand the fundamental differences between a HC and an assistant right? Dino brought in the talent that Prosser capitalized with. He can do the same here.

A little early to make a claim like that, but yes Bzdicklick does look like a horrible hire. Honestly though the Sidney Lowe hiring has to rank right there as one of the worst hires in ACC history.

Sidney was pretty bad. Sidney had no track record in college as far as head coaching goes. Wake hired a coach that had an established horrible record.

my family knows him..i don't believe that for a second

most competent wake fans think his firing dated back to prosser's last 2 years where they had an NIT and no berth

they were never successful in the post season either even when they had CP3

i feel like the biggest problem with the sid era was that his staff was full of assistant coaches that he didn't want to fire. sid wasn't really as bad of a coach as he'll probably be remembered as, he just dug himself into a hole early by trying to create a staff based on nc state tradition rather than a staff built for winning.

my first year in grad school at University of Colorado was Bdzelik's first game here. They lost the home opener to University of New Orleans. The team that he left here was basically screwed out of the NCAA tourney, and went to the semifinals of the NIT. They have a sophomore, Alex Burks, who's going to the league, and a senior, Corey Higgins, that might go pro at some level.

Prior to Bdzelik being at CU, they had about 2000 people at each game, and routinely lost every Big XII game. You see his record and this "this guys sucks ass," but he built a competitive program here, where basketball is absolutely an afterthought. Don't shit all over Bdzelik just yet.

Never heard this. I heard his abrupt firing came because Wellman found out players were getting paid to tutor local middleschool kids (when they were supposed to be doing it to earn community service hours or something). Dino didn't arrange this, just sort of let it happen.

I live in Winston and have met Dino a few times around town. Always thought he was one of the coolest, friendliest guys I've ever met. That said, he had a team with three first round NBA draft picks and lost to Cleveland St.

"New N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried is close to hiring former Charlotte 49ers head coach Bobby Lutz as an assistant, a source close to the situation says.

Lutz's presence would put a decidedly 49ers stamp on the Wolfpacks staff. Former Lutz assistant Orlando Early was also hired by Gottfried earlier this week.

Lutz spent last season as an assistant at Iowa State after he was fired by Charlotte following the 2009-10 season. He is Charlotte's all-time winningest coach and had a 12-year record of 218-158. -- David Scott

like I said, it seems like every school that has a weird firing like that has that rumor go around but I've heard it from some Wake friends

my family also knew him, not that well - but theyve met him through his kids a couple times (I never met him, this was while I was at State) - and they thought he was a good guy too, so who knows

I may not no know two shits about Dino, but whenever I hear a dude being described as a "good guy", I immediately think that he is a D-Bag.

I too was surprised when he was canned.

getting Lutz would add some credibility to our staff...i would be ecstatic

i assume Larry Harris is gone? haven't seen much about him being retained or otherwise

if so, that's a big loss, but nothing we couldn't overcome with guys like Early/Lutz

UNCC should have stayed in C-USA. They don't really have a natural rival. At least in C-USA they had ECU. Also C-USA has football which would make for an easy transition when they decide to move their future football program up from D-IAA to D-IA. The A-10 is an overall better basketball conference with Xavier, Dayton, Temple, Richmond, and St. Joe's, but UNCC doesn't have the facilities or name recognition to hang with the three in Xavier, Dayton, and Temple. If they had stayed in C-USA they would have been firmly in the top 3-4 every year.
