I was wondering when this was coming back.

The dialogue is groan-inducing on a regular basis, and it's ridiculous that the humans can apparently destroy any alien vehicle or structure with an RPG or bazooka. At the same time they had avoided a bunch of missteps in the first season that similar shows have made (no incredibly annoying teenage son, not pairing Noah Wylie and doctor lady romantically, etc.) They may well make those mistakes in the second season, but it's serviceable summer entertainment.

watched all 3 last night. summer entertainment is exactly what this is and i'm ok with it. my girlfriend hates watching it with me because i nitpick every little thing, question where they get all of their gas, how the pilot's plane was so clean, how she plans to fly to iceland in a biplane, etc etc. but the show seems to have taken a darker tone this season which i like. the new show runner seems to have made it a point to give the skitters a face and the red-eyed leader is pretty creepy.

i will continue to laugh at everything this show does, but i'll be intrigued along the way.

So the red-eye skitter is definitely trying to mind control Ben when he turns on his green light bright pegs right?

Done.

Kids and teenagers killed this. Not only are child actors generally shitty, writers use them as a crutch to create plots. IIRC, same shit killed that time traveling/dinosaur show on fox.

Tonight's episode could not exist if you eliminated all the dumb shit the kids did. Even if they think the plot is realistic, it sure as shit isn't interesting to watch.

Maybe one day skokiaan will have something to post about in Entertainment other than the fact that he hates child actors.

I like this show, but the last two episodes have been boring. I don't give a fuck about these kids...I have no attachment to their characters and want them to just die.

I feel like they dont know where they are going with this show.

Time to kill off someone? He was at least the third regular from season 1 that they have killed off in this season so far. I actually expected Karen to go that episode.

I was really hoping we were going to get the Overlord and Karen out in front of the mechs for a release and then they would snipe them with that M82 as they crossed. After they did that to one of the soldiers who got caught scouting, I really thought that me the response of the 2nd Mass.

they never mentioned them. kinda seems like they just use RPGs for mechs now.

i thought it was cool to see all the reloading equipment when they were making the ammo. rarely see that stuff on tv.

yeah, i don't think they've mentioned the mech bullets since the first season firefight at the school.

so now that Jamil is dead who will be the genius mechanic that comes up with awesome things like asbestos insulation over car hoods?

Pope was the one who developed those mech bullets so I guess when he left them he took his knowledge with him? I'd think he would have just shown other people how to make them too but I suppose that since he is a fairly irrational character it is feasible that he refused in order to make himself more valuable. Even if this is the case I'd think that they would have been working overtime to make them and would have cases lying around.

It's also possible that they just ran out of the special stuff needed to make them? I may be wrong but I seem to recall that they melted down the metal armor on the mechs to make the bullets or something like that? Maybe they just haven't gotten much scrap metal?

they've been mobilized the majority of the time since leaving the school. there probably hasn't been any time or tools to breakdown and melt the mech armor. maybe once they get to CHARLESTON!!!! ITS A TARP! they'll have time to build their ammo stash back up.

I really hope they don't gloss over the fact that they told a random skidder and (inadvertantly) an overlord that the US resistance capital was in Charleston.

Here's to hoping they leave the civilian groups in Charleston and follow more of the military as its own entity next season (depends on how this season ends).

Also, anyone else get the minor vibe that Charleston _is_ the "ranch" that the overlords offered Tom when he was aboard the ship, and only the leader guy is in on it so far? Its a little bit of a stretch at this point, but I could see it going that way. This would explain why the overlords haven't highly combed through Charleston after hearing that its where the 2nd Mass was headed.

^ there's a lot of different directions they can take it.

It def makes more sense to go with the humans ganging up with a splinter cell vs. the humans dominating the aliens on their own.

But the past 2 or 3 episodes have been the best of the show so far, IMO.

^ I think writing wise, that is their only option at this point.

I agree, I am tired of the children.... but the very long romantic scenes with no climax is starting to annoy me. It is like fuck or don't fuck... it is the apocalypse and no one cares about you sad story or how you are were a junky whore, blah blah....

If they could move beyond the cast's backstories and the child molesting alien I would definitely enjoy it more.

That being said, this show has at least appeased my survival instincts. So far it has been pretty sparse, but I think it was my fiance... but someone was saying USE THE MECH METAL and other alien scraps... and they finally did. Also they finally wised up to not trusting all humans. Their strategies as a group have also been good. Individually though all of these pussies fail (I know I know they are not military) but damn they need to keep a better eye on their personal weapons.

and I am creeped out by the humming noise the mechs make

also gggggguuuuhhh

Decent finale.

Assuming the new aliens that arrived are allies, I was thinking that the whole mission they did was that moot with the counter-force that had just arrived. Then I realized that the WMD was pointed at the sky, so it was probably targeting the incoming force (not Earth).

I'm also unsure why Hal was bugged if everyone was going to die, though I guess they could have let him go afterwards to find the human camp.

And something seemed wrong with the Overlord's death. In a previous episode, Karen went into a fit when she realized that the overlord was shot, and this time she just scoffed when the same one died? Maybe it wasn't the same overlord. Feels like a misdirection or trickery.

I was let down with the fact that the army's attack on the rebel skidders was never found out by the second mass. Hopefully that comes to a head next season. Second, the mission to wipe out the weapon was a little underwhelming. But then I got to thinking about it, and the weapon was pointed into the sky so it probably wasn't to destroy earth but to keep the new alien race from getting to earth. So either this new race will be an ally to the humans for destroying the weapon or they'll be the new common enemy. As advanced as they are i see the former, they are here to destroy the overlords and assist the humans.

and lastly i thought the twist to turn Hal into a controlled alien sucked. he's one of the true good guys, if anyone was to turn it should have been Pope or someone with a bad streak in them. Now when Hal starts acting weird and doing bad things it's just going to feel fake. hopefully they don't let that go on for too long

and i really wish they would advance the story of Pope's motives. After being one of the more interesting plot lines of season 1 he was almost an afterthought in season 2. with almost every line being about him planning to do something at some point in the future. at this point i've lost interest.

but a good finish, it felt like a really quick season.

didn't really take a super sleuth. they laid it out for you when they were discussing why it was pointed up when the air force was already wiped out and Ben said something about it wasn't for the air force or something.
