obviously not a good first half

but you gotta love the hail mary attempt by Cam on the last play

made it look effortless, and pretty much threw it farther than any other QB in franchise history could

defense looked good early, with the 3 goalline stops (before allowing a TD), and multiple ball strips

but Cam was Mr. Checkdown with his tight ends and we kept coming up short on 3rd down

and somebody tally up the Cam predictions and see who was closest, assuming he doesn't play in the 2nd half

We just spent like $160 million re-signing a Center, RB, and DE off a 2-14 team.

Earth to Hurney. We're going to need to add players to get any better so there's no reason to spend our entire cap on 2 of arguably the least important positions on the field (RB, C).

This is going to be a shitty season. Kinda regretting putting that $500 on our over 4.5 wins now.

Overreact to one preseason game much? Who didn't think there were going to be struggles along the way? With a few exceptions, every quarterback sucks their rookie year. He's already shown flashes of how he can be a great quarterback down the road so let's give it some time and let it develop.

We fielded a 2-14 quarterback last season, not a 2-14 team. You should know You can't judge a whole team's talent when you legitimately have no quarterback. I'll give you the DeAngelo deal, but Kalil is locking up a top offensive lineman in the NFL for up to 5 years, clearing cap space to sign some help in a couple days, and giving him all his money in the first 3 years so the team has leverage with his contract after that period.

I love Deangelo so in a way I am glad he's back. But we overpaid BIG TIME, especially if his health issues become a problem. He's not exactly a young buck and we just paid him like he's going to be a top 5 back for the next 5 years. Very unlikely.

Kalil is not an All-pro. He is not a pro bowler. He's an 86 in Madden. So yes he's a top center but he's not an elite center and by god he's a fucking center! And we just gave him a HUGE deal like he's a top LT, an elite pulling LG, or one of the best RT in the league.

Johnson might be good. He's only had one big season but he's young so the deal could go either way. Pass rushers are typically way overpaid, but he racked up a nutload of tackles along with his sacks so I can't dismiss him as overrated.



I'm not overreacting to one bad game, in fact I didn't even see the game so it didn't have much influence on my outlook.

After the first game I thought we looked like a 6-7 win team and with our schedule probably a 5-6 win team. Now, I'm a little concerned because it looks like neither QB has much to offer and we've got a glaring hole at DE, DT, and CB that has yet to be addressed.

Football teams are often as strong as their weakest link. I just hate to see us spend huge dollars on a few positions while we totally ignore critical positions like DT, CB, and WR.

You can have a weak QB if you have a strong all around football team that dominates the LOS and has a few playmakers but I don't think we have that.

3-13 is the floor and 6-10 is the ceiling I think. 4-12 or 5-11 most likely outcomes.

Yeah he was smiling a lot...from the bench. On the field he always had his head down after bad plays and and shuffled his way back to thee huddle. To me it looked to me like it was affecting how the other teammates would come out of the huddle

he was smiling after his helmet got knocked off. This is a ridiculous argument anyways, how many QBs around the league smile while they are on the field? He's supposed to be focusing on the playcalls, defensive alignments, etc.

Overall I feel like Cam knows he's got a ways to go before being totally comfortable in the offense and dealing with the speed and complexity of NFL's defenses (he saw a 4-3 and a 3-4 defense in his two games so far), but I think he has the look of a guy who knows that he can and will grasp the offense sooner than later and be the player he wants to be. Basically, he doesnt look shell-shocked out there.

If he's a "fake Pro Bowler" because he was 2nd alternate in 2009 and 1st alternate in 2010, that implies he was a top-3 NFC center 2 years ago, and a top-2 NFC center last year...everything starts with the o-line and d-line, Kalil is young, solid, consistent, I just don't understand the complaining about his deal

I mean I understand face disagreeing with it, because its rally and his opinions are all or nothing, but I don't get the Kalil hate. Is Center as important as a dominant left tackle? No. But Kalil does a lot more than get his nuts fondled by Jake, Matt, Jimmy and Cam.
