wasn't jay davis a high ranked player in high school? and marcus stone, for that matter.
the fact that they had numbers worthy of comparison to daniel evans says a lot about the ranking system. or the inability to develop talent....either way...

^^ i keep thinking the same thing. And we missed two XPs. UNCCHEAT also only scored 2 TD's in the whole second half.
If our halves with Liberty had been reversed it would have been: "State Demolishes Liberty Behind the Steady Leadership of Glennon".
I don't want to hate HD, but her analysis is so superficial. And i swear she couldn't have watched the WF/Cuse game because neither one of those teams even scored in the first quarter and Wake got lucky with some long throws. Syracuse tackling was atrocious too. Bottom line in that game was that Wake couldn't stop Syracuse who didn't look like an offensive juggernaut by any stretch.
^ it STARTED OUT bad, but they righted themselves

^^ i'm not saying that at all. i'm saying bryn renner threw a perfect game against and FCS and we sucked and yet somehow we outscored them. that's it. not throwing smoke at our offense
a win this week is huge personally for TOB here stastically. he's finally above .500 here for the first time after beating liberty. (26–25 currently)
it's also big to get us one step closer to .500 against ACC teams since he's been here. crossing that line is crucial this year. he's 14-18 against ACC at the moment.
i can't wait to get past all this week 1 bullshit kneejerk analysis. ughh. plz just fucking shut-out wake DEF.

Right on fucking queue:
Quote : | "UNC's Renner looking to build on debut September, 8, 2011 SEP 8 11:15 AM ET EmailPrintComments 3 By Heather Dinich North Carolina interim coach Everett Withers said he had seen the consistency all summer from first-year starting quarterback Bryn Renner. So when Renner had a near-perfect debut last weekend in the season opener against James Madison, Withers wasn’t surprised.
Nobody, though, expects the ball not to hit the ground in a game.
Except maybe Renner himself.
“Going in every week I try to complete every pass,” he said. “That’s what coach [John] Shoop preaches.”
Mission almost accomplished.
During a weekend in which rookie quarterbacks took center stage throughout the ACC, Renner – one of the overshadowed quarterbacks this offseason – shined the brightest. He threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns in the Tar Heels’ 42-10 win over James Madison, and most impressive was his 22 of 23 completed pass attempts. It was a new ACC record for highest single-game completion percentage (95.7). While Renner is realistic about his chances of repeating that performance on a weekly basis this season, it was an impressive start to the season and should give him some confidence heading into a tougher game this weekend against Rutgers.
“I think there’s a lot of work that needs to be done this week, getting ready for Rutgers,” Renner said at his weekly press conference. “We have to put that game behind us. We have a great opponent coming in here on Saturday, and coach [Greg] Schiano is going to do a great job coaching them up. They played on Thursday, so they had two days extra rest and extra time to watch us and game plan for us. We’re kind of behind the eight-ball. We need to catch up.”
Instead of dwelling on his accomplishments from last weekend, Renner approached his offensive coordinator on Sunday about his lone mistake.
“I’m still mad about that one interception,” Renner said. “I told coach Shoop yesterday it was my fault and it won’t happen again.”
One of the biggest differences between Renner and his predecessor, T.J. Yates, is in their personalities. Yates was unflappable. Renner is excitable. How he handles the ups and downs of the season remains a question, but odds are no one is tougher on Renner this season than himself.
“The thing that's so remarkable about the guy is he's his own worst critic,” Withers said. “He'll complete a deep ball, and he'll say, I didn't make the right read, or I didn't take my full drop, and he'll be talking to himself and that type stuff. So he's a little bit of a perfectionist. He's really hard on himself. But very excitable young man, and the kids love him. All the kids, offensively, defensively, they just love being around him.”
Renner enters the Rutgers game having tied a school record with 14 straight pass completions. He also ran for a touchdown against JMU. Not a bad start for a quarterback who had just two career pass attempts entering the season.
If you ask Renner, though, there's always room for improvement.
"There are a lot of errors that are unseen," he said. "We just need to play a lot better. Every week brings a new challenge. It's a long season. We have to prepare for every game harder every week."
That could be bad news for the rest of the ACC." |

she's such a cunt. george bryan isn't one of the top 25 players in the acc .... yet somehow he made first team all acc and had about 2 dozen touchdowns more than anybody on that list.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNWRwuTxGJ0 Dude made 3 of the most wobbly passes downfield i've ever seen. other than that there isn't 1 pass he throws for more than 4 yards past the line of scrimmage.
at least glennon isn't a pussy and made more than 3x the shots downfield and was able to work the middle of the field. not just pussy throws barely past sides of the pocket. no wonder he went 22/23 pffft.

Renner studied in the TJ Yates school of passing. Complete a screen for 3 yards that goes 40. You completed a 40 yard pass. 9/8/2011 12:12:07 PM |

Didn't Glennon try the same thing? He went deep only 2-3 times during that game. Establish the run, open the backfield, complete long passes. Isn't that basic football 101? We threw a lot of gay little short passes and slants too. 9/8/2011 12:17:19 PM |
cptinsano All American 11993 Posts user info edit post |
The big difference is that UNC was able to effectively block for those short passes to be big gains. State is struggling to block first level while UNC has guards on linebackers. Renner is gonna throw a lot more picks though if he keeps throwing floaters into coverage. 9/8/2011 12:34:04 PM |

^^ Holy shit. I didn't watch the UNC game, just heard about his passing stats. After watching that video, he only threw one nice pass the whole game (the one that started at :30). I don't feel like counting, but I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the passes thrown were caught less than 5 yards past the line of scrimmage, with a majority of those being 3 yards or less.
Completely unrelated...reverse NC State shit ahead of this weeks game? New ESPN commercial that shows a ranked NC State football team beating an unranked VT.

I'm worried Bryan isn't going to have as much to operate, with our receiving corps now tailored to short slants and crossing routes. Bryan did his best work operating under our big receivers that stretched the field. 9/8/2011 8:23:02 PM |
