Agreed, that episode was one of the first where my wife and I both said "this episode blows."

I liked it the first time they did the multiple story lines in one setting style (I think it was brunch when Lilly and Marshall got back together and Ted found out his parents were divorced), but they've just done way too much of it since.

^That first time was a bit different, though.
The first time followed 3 stories that were somewhat connected and culminated in an actual climax.
This time followed 3 rooms that had multiple disjointed stories culminating into a minor joke.

I don't think the mechanic is necessarily worn out. It was just poorly executed this time.

I'm afraid this show officially jumped the shark when Lily&Marshall moved to the suburbs, and that sucko Chris Elliott joined the cast.

^ I literally had the same thought Monday night about them jumping the shark. Use to be a great show, but I can't remember the last truly good episode.

This past week's episode did nothing at all to progress the story. The entire episode only covered a "real life" timespan of maybe 5 minutes?

right now i'm just going through the motions just to get to the end.

How many episodes is season 7. 17?

what about season 8?

same. I feel too invested to quit now and not find out who the mom is, but man it's getting tough to watch. This bad episode, rerun, rerun, worse episode trend is disappointing.

agreed with everything above. Last episode sucked...been lackluster ever since they moved to that house. They need the following:

A) more Barney
B) Get Lilly's dad the hell off the show
C) have them have the baby in a taxi on the way to the hospital in the city & realize they need to move back to the city & get ride of that house.
D) more Barney
E) make Cobie Smulders actually hot again...she's really gone down hill.
F) more Barney
G) less story line about Marshall & Lilly & the baby.

It seems like they are targeting this show now more towards females with all this relationship and baby crap. This used to be one hell of a man show, now its just the typical emotional chick show with a few jokes sprinkled here and there.

I keep waiting for the episode when Lily and Marshall move back into the city. This show has weakened considerably this season but ever since they left the city it's really sucked bad. I don't even bother watching it weekly anymore (just do the occasional consolidation viewing to catch up).

It's probably an entire episode of Marshall and Lilly riding the train back out to the suburbs while sitting next to a drunk guy, and how upset Lilly is about it.

I was actually really feeling this episode until the last 10 seconds (aside from the stripper ending, which was awesome btw).

Its like they take 2 steps forward and then 5 steps back. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised and this is their way of finally putting the Ted and Robin thing down for good. I guess they never technically have in the "past" timeline, yet.

it really WAS good for a couple of seasons, but it's awful now

last night's episode wasn't as bad as the previous couple, but it wasn't really "good," either

It was a decent episode, but my blood boiled at the very end when Lily said "pay up" and Marshall did his typical "Not yet". Its like they mostly wrapped up the Ted - Robin storyline finally but reserved the right to go back and open the can of worms if they so choose. Just kill that storyline once and for all, dammit. I'm tired of it.

At least the writers were smart enough to thoroughly dismiss the idea early on that Ted and Robin end up together. No way to Scrubs this series.

And I'm glad they did the whole "last time I said 'I love you'" before saying it to the mother. That at least gives some form of timeline / progression.

The whole "Marshall & Lily live on Long Island" bit is starting to get annoying. If I called my best friend out on Long Island and told him to meet me at the neighborhood bar he'd tell me to fuck off. It's not just a "45 minute train ride". It's a 10-15 minute drive to the station, then a 10-15 minute wait for the train, and then after arriving at Penn Station at least 10-15 minutes to get to the Upper West Side, and then a 10 minute walk to the bar.

I know it's TV land and not real but if they're going to pretend nothing changed with Marshall and Lily's interaction with the group (based on where they live), then what was the fucking point of moving them out there in the first place?

Prediction: Barney's wedding is him getting married to "Karma".
When we finally do get to that episode in the finale, Robin will end up stopping the wedding, resulting in Barney and Robin together again, resulting in another eventual breakup, resulting in Barney once again being single so the series can continue to be dragged on.

Not a funny episode, but the end was a pretty big shocker (Ted being gone from the apt). Those moments are few and far between on this show

He does own some property, might as well live there. It was shit when he bought it and it doesn't seem like he's taken much care of it since so I wonder how much of the rest of the season will be about him fixing it up.

Also, I doubt Barney and Quinn make it more than just a couple of episodes. Nora was way better for him and he still picked Robin.

I forgot about that house. They haven't mentioned it since he bought it. He must be making mad money teaching to be able to afford a monthly mortgage statement plus rent for that [relatively] large apartment in New York City.

^I always think about that kind of stuff on TV shows. I know it's over-thinking it, and it doesn't necessarily bother me, but people are fairly often living in places that don't seem very affordable or line with their income.
