shit like this always goes one of two ways. either it gains momentum and has large lasting impact, or someone busts heads and it turns into a large scale riot. bloomberg isn't gonna encourage the second option, because riots in NYC would be a nightmare.


i'm not promoting violence, i'm just acknowledging the real possibility that this could turn into rioting/looting if handled incorrectly. bloomberg doesn't want what happened in london to happen in his town.

^^^ I don't claim anything as it relates to this movement. I know of it through talk radio (Rush, Hannity and Bootz) and my roommate who is an active participant in these events. I am apathetic towards theirs cause largely but take delight in knowing that their existence pisses off those on the right.

Corporatism isn't really "one issue," it's just a description of what's wrong with our system on the aggregate. Any instance where you have small groups making decisions for their own benefit, often to the detriment of the population at large, that's a problem. Does the fault lie with the lobbyists or the politicians that bend to their will? That's a hard question to answer.

You'll find that in many cases, regulations are actually written up by influential corporate lobbyists to price out their competition. It's mostly for humor's sake. Boortz used to be tolerable but now all he does is bash the president. Rush has always been over the top so it's out of morbid curiosity that I listen to what he's distorting or mischaracterizing. Hannity is the one whom I can't tolerate for very long. His arrogance knows no bounds and he just repeats himself over and over and over. It was funny listening to him spin both the booing of the soldier at the debates and Hank Jr's comment on Foe and Fiends.

I'm still not sure what I think about this movement. Part of me appreciates it because obviously something needs to be done about our economy. The other part of me isn't against it, but I feel that it would be much better if there was actually one message being said other than 5 million different messages. Although the fact that there are 5 million different messages could be "the message" on it's own.

I don't know, I think that MSNBC is even worse, nowadays (years ago, I thought they were the best of those 3).

That isn't meant to be to the relative credit of FNC--just to say that of the 3 cable news outlets, I think that MSNBC has "worst" pretty solidly secured.

Only CNN is even worth watching, though. I'll watch O'Reilly on Fox, but that's about it (and I often disagree with him, but he isn't a GOP lackey and does some pretty decent interviews).
