As a Tarantino fan, I can safely say this is much worse than even Jackie Brown.
This is officially his worst movie and one that shouldn't have been made.
I don't know what made Tarantino movies great in the 90's but whatever it is doesn't exist anymore.

For shows like Seinfeld it was Larry David not Seinfeld.
Maybe Tarantino had a sidekick we didn't know about.

The scene with Ben's skull was a trip back to my childhood. I have heard that logic many many times from racist old men, and leo just brought it to life. some crazy shit.

At one level this was the same story/plot as IB, but the two seem more connected like it is part of a series or something.

I think that if you are going to group the Kill Bills that basterds and Django should be grouped. QT has stated that they belong together and that he one day hopes to make a third movie where the "victimisers become the victoms".

Jackie Brown was a great film, just a very unQT type film. Also death proof was a great film, but more of a short story.

I would most likely separate Kill Bill into two parts when ranking Tarantino's films.

I don't know why, but I think I would rank Jackie Brown on par with Pulp Fiction; it's one of my favorites, but I find it difficult to not enjoy any of his films.

Also, I would consider Four Rooms's chapter "Penthouse - 'The Man from Hollywood'" more of a short story than Death Proof; Wikipedia lists Death Proof as having a running time of 114 minutes.

There's a really long scene that establishes how focused Stuntman Mike is on the second group of girls, but it really only serves to make him a weirdo instead of a cool movie madman.

There's also some extra stuff in the bar with the first group, including the full lap dance scene. It's entertaining enough (especially since it's set to "Down in Mexico"), but it's not as entertaining as imagining what the scene is like in the "SCENE MISSING" version.

The long version isn't bad, but it drags quite a bit and feels like even more than the extra half hour it is.

It's a good movie, but too damn violent for me. I could go my whole life without seeing that dude get ripped apart by dogs again. Otherwise I enjoyed the humor and characters.

I don't get all the hate for Tarantino as an actor. I'm not saying he's fantastic or anything, but if we didn't know it was him I doubt his cameos would elicit all the criticism.

Saw the movie last night, and I enjoyed it. The audience I was with a very mixed crowd age wise and race wise and the overall thought was that we all enjoyed it a lot and thought it was a very good movie worthy of the commercial success.

I too have heard this from many older (I would assume racist persons).

Very glad the movie got nominated for awards, and I plan on seeing it again.

Could some of these TWW gun enthusiasts make themselves useful and go through the fact/fiction with the guns in this movie? I am calling you all out.

I participated in civil war reenactments when I was a kid and all infantry men had muskets. Pistols and Henry Rifles were used but very uncommon. They tried to keep it as accurate as possible. I am not sure if Hans's rifle that he was using was a Henry or not, so I am gonna look into it.

Or course it was a Tarantino film.

Also, the hood scene was an obvious reference to the klan, but they didn't turn up until after the Civil War.

^Dynamite wasn't invented in Germany until 1867(movie set in 1858) either, but it's not suppose to be a history movie, just a fun movie.

The "Klan" scene had me rolling, thought it was great. When they were riding in I was thinking "I bet it's hard to ride and see through those little eye holes with the hoods moving around" haha.

^ Tarantino has actually referred to Django and Inglorious as "altered history." He's talked about wanting to do a third to make it a theme based trilogy. I guess similar to the man with no name trilogy, revenge trilogy (korean), etc.

I thought that was actually the point. And particularly why they were going on about how they needed to be redesigned. They were the pre-cursor of the hoods the klan is known to wear, and the group was sort of the pre-cursor to the klan itself. It was sort of an "origin" and it works fine when you realize that just because a movie takes place in the past it doesn't make it a historical movie. And that it's Tarantino and you've seen other Tarantino movies, especially Inglorious Bastards which is most similar to this and equally inaccurate historically.

If you go into a Tarantino movie and expect realistic violence and blood (especially post Kill Bill and Inglorious Basterds), you're going to have a bad time.

I really enjoyed Inglorious Basterds. I'm not a Tarantino aficionado or anything, why do so many people dislike it? I thought the dialogue was awesome, the tension was built extremely well with each scene and the cinematography was great. And the villain absolutely stole the show.
