also...I'm weary of Don and Megan's balcony. Each fight escalates a bit more than the previous one in that apartment. I feel like someone's eventually going over either by accident or on purpose.

I would happily watch a spinoff of Sterling showing Sally the ropes

The little things in the show are what make it so good. Sally eating fish after her brother says earlier that she doesn't like fish...and that scene at the party table when everyone sat down one after the other blankly staring out past the camera.

These shows get good in the last 15 minutes...spend the first 15 explaining last episode.

i dont think rogerd be able to show his face in front of the hubby honestly

and speaking of that scene, it wasnt just the lady goin bobble head and u just see the top of her head goin up and down. Shawty was WORKIN it, she was goin haam on lil sterling, looked like she was workin the tip and you saw her whole face. I was impressed i wish i was in that seat .

anyway, im glad megan got a full episode i love her character. I also agree with peggy's mother about abe, i feel like some shit is goin bad with him and hes movin to leech off peggy but really isnt happy with her. I dont think hes trying to be cruel or this is anything malicious or calculated just that its the way things are going between them i really cant see her wanting to marry peg they are way too different I think they both want to force this relationship and momma sees right through it.

i mean i dont think she was very kid in her message and i am no anti-semite. but i think her point of view has little to do with social views so much as seeing it for what it actually is and thats the basis in which i agree with her, she seems to think its more of his master plan and that the kid is an evil jew. I just look at it as hes doing it for convenience, as well as peggy. I also feel like he wants more of a leash on her

definitely agree with this take

dude was clearly uncomfortable with the level of casualness between Peggy and her co-workers

anyone else think its a done deal that Peggy ends up with Ginsberg?

either that or they bond professionally and spawn their own business or something. i still think peggy 'wins' at least professionally, by the end of the series.

what do you guys think of megans "dreams" that dad obviously knows about but we didnt get any real insight as to what it is.

i think we are led to believe that she wants to be an actress, but i would seriously doubt Red Poppa would be happy with her doing that so i think its something much broader in scope than simply becoming an actress. She seemed more conflicted about that conversation than we would find reasonable if it were merely about acting

i was thinking about all the times she speaks to them in french, i wonder if thats when she opens up about those types of things in don's presence since he clearly doesnt have any concept of french (don "arrr vwarrr" draper lol)

but to his credit he is reading a french dictionary

my guess is that pops would be fine with her being an actress...

hollywood was a very popular place for communists back then...or at least in pops' hey day

also...i find it amusing that it took LSD to get Roger to think like a grown up

I agree. I think acting was her way in, so I think she wants to be a writer or director. She's always using Don's typewriter, and I don't think she's working on copy or coupons. I still think she it is possible that she is the one that told Roger about Ken's side gig (although prolly Pete). She's obviously got a great imagination and vision based on the Heinz ad.

If it's not, whatever this dream of hers is definitely why she wasn't excited about claiming the Heinz idea or the celebration after. It wasn't modesty or humble either because when Peggy congratulated her (whom I think she was genuinely excited bc it was a win for women in the office even if it did compete with her...as she said she should be jealous) she definitely responded like her heart was somewhere else.

I also wonder if maybe her dream isnt career based but just to be a mother. Her dad said something about jumping to the end...and now here she is a step mother. She said "it's not possible" a few episodes ago regarding children. Wasn't Megan in LA before she went to New York? Maybe something happened there that daddy doesn't know about causing her to be barren (botched abortion?).

the thing about heinz is that is by far the biggest thing they can get because they burnt the cigarette bridge and they need to get every heinz account they can so they can eventually get to advertise for Heinz ketchup which is the big money

thats why they are going so hard for this beans thing

being my first full season i feel like alot if going on but i guess some huge stuff went down in other seasons to expect large pay offs

I really like the show.

But I also like Harry, Cosgrove, Pete, and Lane more than I like Don's wife/kids and their families. I know Don/Peggy are the main characters and the show has always focused on them but I wish we saw more of SCDP at work then an occasional pass-by conversation or meeting.

I thought the first few episodes were kinda "slow" but the past two have been fantastic IMO. I just go into each new epsiode thinking of it more as a string of short stories than a series.

What happened to Peggy's child? I fully expected the baby to come up when her Mother was ranting and raving about wanting the cake back.

the thing about Roger is that he's a likable guy who completely owns all his faults...they make him who he is...

Pete is just a self important douche bag who thinks he's entitled to some sort of lifestyle just because of who he is...

Pete hates himself. We have seen information that indicates his family made him feel insignificant and that has carried into him as an adult, represented by his need to feel/prove to be important (the hooker had to call him her king to get him going).

Since he hates himself he will never be happy and will keep looking for these channels to prove his self worth, e.g. bigger role, nice office, high school girl, friend's wife, belittling price, etc..

Pete will fail at many of these attempts, a sad truth that will fuel his desires more, but even for the ones in which he will be successful he will be left wanting. When you loathe your self as much as he does you can't really respect or appreciate what you have because if you were able to get it then it must not be that good and he will find something another person has that he doesn't have.

Excluding fleeting moments, happiness just isn't in the cards for Pete and we will consider to see his character unravel as the unhappiness builds and builds.

^good post, because even when he does a good job, and from what i gather he is a solid employee, he wants extra adulation or some prize. Its not enough for him to just be a good employee

because i mean, fuck, hes out here playing Jody and trudy is one hell of a wife and woman and she loves him dearly. Its really sad but youre right id say damn near 100%

and I hate myself for feeling this way, but I agree with Joan about Megan. I think she is only pursuing this acting because she has a crutch to a comfortable lifestyle. But at the same time i feel she is generally miserable at work, even when Don mentioned that she could work for other companies she was not havin it she doesnt like advertising.

I feel like if she fails shes going to become Betty but she wont even be taking care of any children because she doesnt seem to want any.

Anyway, for me the take home is Don is going to become a beast at work, but with Megan not with him all the time hes gonna cheat again. Look at the hours Meg is auditioning...getting home at 12am? More than likely that will be fairly regular and Don might become the bored husband.
