The Atlantic is crazy good this year. If the Penguins had switched places with the Caps, this could have been an all-Atlantic semifinal.

I think it was more the Southeast was sh*t and the only great team in the other division was Boston.

Holtby looked very much like a rookie goaltender today. Rest of the Caps looked good, though.

That game ended up being the 20th longest NHL game, 6 seconds shorter then the 19th longest.

#19 was the incredible triple OT Cup Final game 3 in Raleigh, the Canes losing to the Red Wings. It's still the loudest game I've ever been to, and one of the most memorable as I was sitting along the goal line eight rows up, and one of the most deflating as you just knew after the first overtime the winner of that game was going to win the Cup, the Canes didn't win another game in that series after that loss.

I couldn't believe how epic both goaltenders became during overtime. Just glad the Rangers came out on top.

Goaltender Braden Holtby, a 22-year-old rookie, made a bold statement: "Maybe I'll accept it after the fourth round, after we win."

Yeah, ratings in general have been great these playoffs, but they have been through the roof in Philly so far. There's a lot of really positive momentum for hockey and the NHL right now. When a Phoenix/Nashville game pulls in almost 800,000 people, you're finally starting to do something right.

And the overnight numbers just came in for the NY/WAS game last night. 1.9 million viewers with a peak of 2.7 million. It beat the early NBA game on TNT last night apparently.

^^ I'm actually pretty surprised at that. The casual sports viewer probably knows the ESPN/2/ and Turner networks where all the NBA games are on but not all the hockey channels for the playoffs.

Good to hear, though.

NHL playoffs had so much potential this year.

All those big market teams like Bos, NYR, Phil, Chi, Det, etc were so good all year.

Sucks the way it worked out. The series have been relatively good but if it ends up Phoenix, LAK, Wash, and NJ only the REALLY big hockey fans are going to watch the rest of this mess.

NYR/Bos had the potential to bring hockey to the forefront again... sucks

Just one? I was hoping for three given that he was just being a whiny bitch since he didn't get a call he wanted and there was a clear intent to injure. He must have been a choir boy prior to this....at least as much of a choir boy as a Goon Flyer can be. But then again, he could be sitting out for the last game of their season anyways....

^^hoping for three was fucking retarded. I'm kinda surprised he got one.

He should've grabbed Zubrus' head and smashed it into the glass.

It wasn't like it was retaliatory against the person whom he felt wronged him. He was stomping his feet like a little bitch and went head hunting.

He got one because Neal got one for headhunting while angry in the same way. It was an incredibly dumb play; all he had to do was throw that hit at the chest and it'd only be a minor for interference, but he couldn't resist going for the chin.

With 3 seconds in the period too. I'm surprised he was suspended, but it was more of a suspension for how dumb he was being. Just let it go and go to the locker room

I've been trying to watch as little of the Rangers games as possible for the sake of my health (and bad things tend to happen as soon as I turn the TV on to them), but tonight I opened up the ESPN gamecast and literally 2 seconds later the score changed from 2 goals to 3

Until this actually is finalized, I'll believe it when I see it. That press conference to "announce the sale" was basically just a "well we intend to complete the sale, but we haven't actually accomplished anything to make that happen other than holding this press conference to let you know we're still at step 1, but with a new buyer!!1."

Once the city of Glendale, Goldwater, and others have their say on this matter, I highly doubt the end result will be this guy purchasing the team and keeping them in Glendale.
