Give Wilson a shot the next week in Denver, and then each quarterback would get one turn with the first-unit offense in a game situation and Carroll would have his body of information to make a decision. So why didn't Carroll go with Wilson in Game 2 like he planned? Was Wilson's red-zone interception after the Seahawks forced a Titans' turnover scare Carroll? Was it something Flynn did? "It's totally a gut feeling," Carroll said. "Let's keep it the same, and let's learn more. I thought we were making progress and we were moving along in a way I didn't want to change that." But after thinking about that decision, I had another thought. Starting Wilson in the third exhibition game instead of the second accomplishes two things: 1. This gives Wilson the stiffest defensive test available this month. The third exhibition game is the one opposing coaches generally game plan for. Not only that, but Arrowhead Stadium is considered one of the tougher environments for an opposing team. Coach Romeo Crennel is a defensive-minded coach, the Chiefs play a 3-4 scheme. So do Dallas and Green Bay -- the Seahawks' second and third opponents. For that matter, Arizona's defense is based in a 3-4 though the Cardinals aren't nearly so static, showing multiple fronts. 2. Matt Flynn could still get a shot with the starters this week. NFL teams generally play their starters through the first series of the third quarter, which means that if Flynn starts the second half, he would still get a chance to work against the first-string defense. Then again, as has been pointed out to me, maybe I'm trying to rationalize what is much more of a fluid situation. If Carroll followed a gut instinct to start Flynn again in Week 2, maybe he's simply responding to the fact he was wowed by the way Wilson played under constant pressure in the second half in Denver. Whatever the reason, a quarterback situation that seemed to be settling down just got a whole lot more confusing. "

Hey you stupid fucks, he graduated from NC State, not Wisconsin. He transferred because he would have had no guaranteed shot at starting here and instead he wanted to go play for a school where he would be able to get more national spotlight and boost his draft stock. He played in the fucking Rose Bowl. The best he could have gotten from NC State last year would be another Champs Bowl win.

If any of you think you would have done anything differently than he did, you're an idiot. You all would have done the same, including me. Yes, it's sad that 99% of the time he will be referred to as a QB who played for Wisconsin, because that was where he played his last year of ball (and honestly his most successful year of ball), but that's just how the shit works.

Some of us still like RW because he's a great player with a great character and he's damn fun to watch when he's on the field. He played for us for three years and led the offense to the best season we've had in a decade, three consecutive UNC wins and an NCAA record. He was the best QB we've had since Philip Rivers (hopefully Glennon will take this title this year). If you don't like him, maybe YOU need to get the fuck out of this thread.

It's also worth noting that he still speaks highly of NCSU and took the time to come to our Spring game, do interviews, participate in the Answer for Cancer Walk, etc. He seems like a great person who made the best possible decision for himself and his future, and TOB did the same thing.

No fault on either side, it's just that the best option for both parties was a bit of a heartbreak. Thankfully both sides did very well, proving the validity of their choices and now both can be happy for each other. There's no need for anyone to be butthurt.

I still <3 RW though. He's not a traitor or a Judas, he's just someone who tried to make the best decision for himself, still thinking that baseball was his future. When that fell through, it was too late to come back here.

Yeah, I already had PM as my #1 QB (though looking like a mediocre pick at best) ... so this is to hope I get a homerun to replace manning when he is playing against a top 5 D (or if manning sucks big time).

Seattle has enough playmakers on the team that I can see Russell being that last missing piece they needed to move up the ladder significantly.
