1. The mute field-tech brother is turning out to be pretty cool and useful. He found those safety devices in Quinn's apt as well as he was johnny-on-the-stop with the camera next to the bus

2. Quinn is kind of a badass, despite the suspicions behind him

I like how they had the Skype logo on the cell phone during that bit to give it some authenticity for the video chat... lol

Yeah. I was a huge fan of season 1 as it felt like a better acted better written 24. Now it is quickly becoming 24, but perhaps even more ridiculous.

i dont see it. i've been able to follow the plot this season with no issues. i never watched a single episode of 24 so I cannot make an honest comparison.

fantastic season to me ... not as good as Boardwalk Empire

yeah, this last episode is completely different in terms of how the story developments progressed compared to the whole season thus far.

And wouldn't the CIA have know when Nazir contacts Brody with the encrypted and tagged cell phone that they gave him? I mean it wouldn't be far fetched to clone his SIM account and receive all the data in real time, then cross reference the video feed with face detection and set some sort of alarm notification...

I mean if they are willing to stretch the idea that Nazir some how happens to have some Arab hacker who can kill people using only the serial number off of a pacemaker over the internet... then you have to give the CIA with more credit in their ability if you are willing to stretch the technological truth for the sake of convenient drama and tension. On that note, a skilled hacker who could do that could have easily gotten the serial number from the doctor's office/hospital that implanted the device in the VP.

The whole drama just seems too forced for us viewers as you guys have said; "just like 24".

I still enjoy the show quite a bit, but as ^ said, they definitely would have Brody's cell phone tapped so they would know everything he was doing/saying. That part irked me while I was watching.

While I enjoy the hell out of the show, Dana's character annoys me. All she does is brood. I realize girls around her age are emotional and what not, but every shot is her scowling with her arms crossed.

Oh yeah on that note:

I didn't think it was hard to follow, I just thought it was silly, over the top, and clumsy... the tone of the episode just didn't match with how the show has gone so far. the tension never felt very real to me.

agreed. it can get frustrating when they are building tension, like Carrie with Nazir, but you know damn well Carrie isn't going to die.

What he did to Walden was ice cold though. Brody kinda killed two birds with one stone there, saving Carrie and getting his revenge on Walden for killing Nazir's son.

The hacking of pace makers isn't the idea that's the stretch...

its the idea that within one episode of their biggest terrorist attack plot that took this whole season to setup for goes sour... then miraculously Nazir just conveniently has a hacker on his payroll who could have killed the VP with little to no effort, who also happens to "need" Brody to do him a favor all while he somehow kept tabs on Carrie and used her as a bargaining chip without the CIA knowing while using a CIA cell phone...

Now that's a "24" plot stretch to keep any sort of tension alive with crazy associations and wild plot discoveries that take a huge 180 degree twist with no explanation and goes straight into the middle of action.

so do yall think Abu Nazir was reaching for a gun or a Q'ran or something aka trying to get deaded instead of getting captured alive

cause with 5-6 guys with guns on him, you'd think they could've easily bumrushed him, handcuffed him and taken him in for questioning...not that he would give any good information, would waste money with a trial, blah blah etc, and couldve possibly narc'd on Brody

but still

He had 24 hours+ in a private room, with the time to strap an exposive to his body or do numerous other things that he could reach in and trigger.

This season is starting to remind me more and more of 24. I really liked 24, but Homeland (at least the first 1.5 seasons) seemed smarter than 24. In 24 whenever there was a random character who decided to put help out Jack, he/she ended up dead the minute their usefulness was over. Thought the same thing about the FBI guy who went down in the tunnel with Carrie.

And Carrie is starting to be the Jack Bauer of this show too. Plays off of crazy hunches and is right 100% of the time, if everyone just listened to her the show would've only needed like 6 episodes this season. I really still enjoy watching it, but its starting to seem more and more forced.

While I absolutely love this show, I have two complaints about last nights episode.

1 - I'm getting sick of Carrie giving the crazy face every time the camera is on her. I get that it's an integral part of her character, but I feel like as viewers we're getting beaten over the head by it.

2 - No fucking way they go down into some tunnels chasing enemy #1 with a single fucking SWAT/FBI guy, and no other armed officers in sight while all the others are waiting elsewhere.

Quote :

The latter. Cause with 5-6 guys with guns on him [and more importantly the amount of time they were just standing there], you'd think they could've easily bumrushed him, handcuffed him and taken him in for questioning...not that he would give any good information, would waste money with a trial, blah blah etc, and couldve possibly narc'd on Brody"

Yep. They had plenty of time to rifle butt him and go all Khalid Sheikh Mohammed on his ass...and that actually might make for good TV too. And yeah I got the picture it was suicide as opposed to him actually trying to reach for something.

Quote :

I used to say the same thing, but she was convinced Nazir was in that FBI dudes car...and he wasn't. So if the [as yet unknown, how convenient] guy turns out to be the mole, then I guess you can say she was right, but still, Nazir wasn't in that car.

Quote :
"so i assume the body they drop in the water in the preview is Abu Nazir's but they want you to think its Brody's"

Yep. Now that Nazir is dead, I don't think there is a show without Brody. No fucking way he's killed next week.

last two episodes have been pretty lame. known terrorist is in the same room as the VP when he dies, and no one seems to question that?

let's hope they redeem themselves in the finale. Brody needs to die. reboot next season with Carrie, Saul and a new bad guy.

Just ripped through the entire series in a few weeks.

First season-and-a-half (up to the end of s2e5 when Carrie interrogates and flips Brody): fucking brilliant television, show deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and Boardwalk Empire (I realize I might be in the minority on Boardwalk, but I feel it's up there as one of the three best dramas on television).

2nd half of season 2: implausible, somewhat boring, run-of-the-mill political thriller show. For me, though, it's not even the implausibility of it that gets me. It's just that everything they've done is lame from a narrative standpoint. It just isn't interesting. When Brody sent the warning text to Abu Nazir back in episode two of this season, it was implausible, but I let it slide because it worked fairly well for the narrative. It didn't bother me. When the show is implausible AND uninteresting, though: that's dangerous territory (24 territory).

Although I think there were a few good scenes the past few episodes: the one where Brody and Jessica finally discuss how their marriage is over and has been for a long time, the one where Carrie and Nazir talk about who is more righteous in their cause, the one where Saul sits with that dude at the diner and they discuss their philosophical differences. None of those scenes redeemed those episodes by any stretch though. Just saying this show is much, much, MUCH better when it focuses on the humanity/psychology of its characters, rather than focusing on ridiculous, larger-than-life action sequences.

Great finale. Last few episodes sucked but they started to sort of redeem themselves with this finale. I'm very suspicious of Saul being one of the only ones not at that funeral (but obviously the writers WANT the audience to be suspicious of Saul--that's why they immediately cut to a shot of him at Nazir's funeral right after the blast). They did a nice job of bringing closure to the remaining loose threads of this season while very clearly setting up a new story for next season: Carrie going back to the CIA (as Saul will OBVIOUSLY hire her back) and working to try to clear Brody's name.

was i the only one to suspect that when brody nodded at carrie to leave that that was the sign that brody was going to actually use his ball bearing vest?

i do think he wasnt in on the carbomb, but i liked how the season ended leaving a lot of things up in the air

and its kind of nice that estes finally got got

^^^if you watch that scene really closely, it looked like carrie was the one who motioned to brody to leave the funeral. which is important, because that means brody wouldn't have left the funeral unless carrie suggested it, which makes it unlikely brody was the one behind the bombing.
