If you can't find another job within a year you're doing something wrong. A year of living off the government is enough. People these days feel like they're too entitled to benefits, and rely too heavily on the government.

I'm not happy he signed the abortion bill. BTW what's the significance of the motorcycle?

It was a bill about motorcycle safety that they added abortion legislation to with no notice

(they had to do this because he said he would not sign the anti-Sharia bill that they added abortion legislation to with no notice)

You think the people that make the laws are going to make laws restricting how they're allowed to make laws?

Straight bribery.

http://www.wral.com/did-mccrory-break-his-promise-on-abortion-laws/12664396/

Quote :
"Abortion law breaks McCrory promise

RALEIGH, N.C. — During an Oct. 24, 2012, debate, WRAL News reporter Laura Leslie asked soon-to-be Gov. Pat McCrory the following: "If you are elected governor, what further restrictions on abortion would you agree to sign?"

McCrory's one-word reply: "None."

So when McCrory signed a package of changes to the state's abortion laws Monday, did he break that campaign pledge?

McCrory makes the case that the bill does not "further restrict" access to abortion"

Quote :
"Given the absolute nature of his promise, by signing Senate Bill 353, he broke that promise. "

I'm surprised to see the media not leaving this at a he said/she said, and actually doing some watchdogging.

Horrible thing to be done, but why should the media care that much?

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but I ain't gonna lie. Anyone that didn't see this mess coming from a mile away should probably consider sitting the next decade out from voting.

McCrory was an OK mayor, but he was bought and paid for well before he was elected. I place most of the blame on the democrats for sitting around with their thumbs up their asses in 2010 though. Teabaggers are gonna do what they're gonna do. You can't ask them to change their spots, but you can sure as hell do everything and then some to keep them from being elected. NC is good and fucked until 2020.

He actually wasn't a bad mayor all things considered. He's a joke of a governor thus far though, and giving Perdue a run for her money as the worst in my lifetime.

I completely agree with Johnny Swank's assessment. McCrory was clearly bought and paid for before the election. I had some of my liberal Charlotte buddies recently admit to me that they crossed over to vote for him last election because they thought he would be a moderate and work together with both sides. They must know by now that clearly that is not the case.

I would love to recall him but that is not gonna happen. It is a wonderful fantasy scenario however.

I will gladly admit to voting for him in 2008, which I still feel is before the crazies got to him

I will just as gladly admit to not voting for him in 2012 because it was apparent he sold his soul to the devil

Elections are about picking the lesser of 2(or 3) evils. The other team had control of the state for years, and they obviously were not getting us out of the red and into the black.

While I don't agree with a lot of the social legislation they are cramming through, they are doing just what the other team did for the last 30 years - what they know best. Sure you can come in here and mention ALEC and all that other bullshit but that's no more of a conspiracy than ACORN swaying elections. I wish they hadn't passed the whole teacher crap in the budget, but I'm hoping they'll backtrack on that.

I mean didn't we know that it was going to hurt to bring the economy in this state back on track?

And what politician doesn't go back on campaign promises? I don't remember WRAL continuously keeping a "promise tracker" up when dear Bev took office.

the "promise tracker" they have for Pat has more in the "kept" column than "broken" so, there's that. Also, they point out that they didn't have one for Perdue, so you're not breaking any news there.

ACORN was a fairly decentralized, poorly funded grassroots charity organization that also helped people get out to vote.

ALEC is funded by billionaire corporations and has the ear of thousands of legislators, with the specific goal of influencing policy in a right-leaning way, and has been successful in doing so.

Oh, that headline:

"McCrory's cookie offer to abortion rights protesters crumbles"
http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news/local&id=9190500

Quote :
""The least that he could have done is come out and directly answered some questions," said abortion supporter Jes Cromiller. "Why did you sign a bill that you say you didn't read? Why would you go back on your campaign promises? But none of that's been answered. Instead, we're given a snack."

The backlash was even more apparent on Planned Parenthood's Facebook page replete with outrage.

"Let them eat cake," said one poster.

"Just as Marie Antoinette was disconnected to her country, Gov. McCrory is completely disconnected to North Carolinians," said Godinez.

Protesters slipped the full plate of cookies back under the mansion's gate with this a note indicating they wanted women's health over cookies."

I think #LetThemEatCookies became a think on twitter after that.

^^I don't understand the fuss about that, I would have taken the cookies, said thanks, and continued protesting. I wouldn't whine about him being nice and giving out cookies.

In what world is giving someone a cookie a mean act?

They weren't protesting for pastries. They wanted their voices to be heard. McCrory refusing to participate in any sort of dialogue or even acknowledge the need for public discussion was very condescending and dismissive as another poster put it.

Of course those cookies were probably yummy and tasty.
