This win will not sink Maryland's season any more than our loss to Michigan sunk ours. It will be their 9-9 conference record and losses to Wake and GT and BC that will sink them. WE JUST BEAT DUKE! I definitely don't think the game defines the season, but I think it would go a long way towards saying this team is different than years past, and we arent going to lose a game we should win. In the past few coaching tenures, we always seem to lose a bunch of games that we should win, and win games that we shouldn't. I'm sick of that shit.

With that said, it is rare that even great teams don't let their guard down at least once a season and something slip by. If we lose, it isnt the end of the world.

Wake Forest is getting a new coach after last night. They refused to make a statement in just about a must-win situation. We've persevered against Ga Tech in this situation so there's not much reason we can't beat MD tonight as long as Gottfried can keep the team focused. Near-losses and an early season ass whooping are good frames if reference for a coach to win to keep us focused. I just don't wanna see us start crapping out early like against BC, for example. Highly frustrating if so. But whatever we still won I guess....

My feelings are that this will be a close game throughout the first 30 minutes or so as we play conservative defense to stay out of foul trouble (i.e. our usual game plan to protect CJL and Howell). The last 10 minutres or so we get more aggressive and begin to open a small lead that expands to around 6-8 at the buzzer due to the Twerps fouling at the end of the game.

Hopefully Umd will be cold from the field like they've been the past couple games, but with our defense, there is no telling. If we bring the energy on defense like we did against Duke, then I think we'll be fine, but I'm not expecting us to shut them down.
