I enjoy the game, but I wish the matchmaking and randomization was better, especially since I am just starting. For instance, I'll draw a Stormwind Champion on my initial hand. I'll replace it and draw . . . my other Stormwind Champion. Then my turn starts (I go first), and I draw . . . the Stormwind Champion I just put back. Really frustrating.

Then I'll get a daily to win 2 games as a specific class (I haven't played it before) and the first card my opponent plays is the golden cleric (acquired at class level 40). Its just a little frustrating sometimes.

Did you buy packs of cards? From everything I have experienced and read a lot of the matchmaking takes into consideration how many cards you have. If you are a beginner you will get matched up with other people just starting. Once you buy a bunch of packs of cards you are fair game to go against everyone else basically.

I started a second account to play without buying any cards for fun and it seems to match me against other people who have equally shitty card selections haha.

I have opened a total of 5-6 packs I think, and none were purchased with real money. Just what they give you for doing the tutorial (minus doing arena, which I still have not done) and what I could buy with gold from daily quests. All of my rares fall on the low/mediocre end of the power scale and I don't have any epic or legendary cards.

It has been suggested that the time I play (10PM+) is a factor in getting stronger player opponents.

It would be cool if there was the option to do draft mode vs friends.

Finally made it to 6 wins in an Arena run. Best I've done otherwise is 3 and 3. I really like the way the daily challenges are setup. I'm continually playing as different heros, learning about the new cards I get from each arena run, and understanding more and more of the meta game.

This game is so much more approachable and interesting that MTGO where the only place to really start is in draft/limited where you just get continually slaughtered by card sharks who play 12 hours a day.

Yeah, I do like those aspects. I just wish it was easier to win gold if you aren't one that can consistently get 7-9 wins in arena. There are certain classes right now that if i get a quest to get 5 wins, it's gonna be damn hard. I realize they have to make their money somehow though and it's going to be from people buying packs/gold for $USD.

I'm a pretty casual player so this may skew my perspective. But I have time to play about 30-45 minutes a day, which basically means I do an arena run every 2-3 days. The 5-win hero challenges are pretty great, they have been a forcing function to learn how each hero works and what cards to watch out for when I play against them later

Im more consistently getting 7-10 arena wins but still all it takes is a few 2-3 wins and you still run out of gold pretty quick. Need to have a good streak and build up my gold stores so I can avoid running out when I want to play.

^^Any tips for us casual folks? I'm finding that when I have the option to go Paladin or Mage, it's pretty much a lock now that I can get to 5+ wins. But I rarely get these options. It seems like I always get stuck with super shitty hero options lately (Warlock, Warrior, Priest) that are awful to consistently draft for.

The biggest thing seems to be to draft flexible removal (damage spells, weapons), board reset removal (AOE spells), and varied chain effect creatures. The primary chain effect to draft being card draw, secondary being persistent effects (damage/heal/power&toughness), third being battlecry effects.

I seem to have better luck drafting general power than trying to draft to a hero's strengths because of how unreliable the cards come in draft. With the exception of Mage and Paladin who both are just stacked with hero specific card strategy,

Yeah some of the streamers are pretty good at explaining their thoughts. If you watch one who plays constructed though be prepared for like 50% of people that day to run that deck.

In general, due to the never knowing what you are gonna get, I try to get cards with good overall value by themselves rather than needing other cards to help. Granted when you get to the last five cards you can look through what you have and see if they have good synergy with others you have already selected.

Trying to keep a decent mana curve also helps. I try to just get a deck that I can board control with. Every time I think I have a great deck it usually sucks and when I think I have a boring meh deck it does pretty well.

Trying to fit in card draw also helps quite a bit if you are able to. Nothing sucks more than running out of cards and relying on top decking a good play.

Yeah anytime you get to 7 wins it feels like such a victory knowing you basically just got a free card pack and another arena run haha

Arena was very frustrating this weekend. I have found really most of them come down to how lucky you get in your first 2 games or so. Sucks to get a deck that should get at least 7-8 wins and run into people with 12 win decks and start 0-2. Once you get to 2-3 wins then you start at least getting a little more consistent with the people you get matched against and what to expect.

Just discovered this about a week ago. Probably the most addicted I've been to a video game since the early days of vanilla WoW. I really enjoyed playing MTG back in the day but never had the time/money/friends to really get into it. This is basically the perfect substitute. GG Blizz.

I was obsessed with this on the iPad when it first came out, for like a week.

Now i have completely lost interest. Level 20-ish on a few characters, and it seems like i'm at the point where the games I lose are primarily due to the other person having better cards, not really how I play my cards, and I have no interest in grinding to get more cards (or shelling out a bunch of money).

It came out on iPad like a week ago...

If you are sick of getting beat, play more and get better. It doesn't take an "expensive" deck to win. Build a budget hunter deck and learn how to play it. Then dust your way into a Leroy Jenkins and you have a legendary deck on your hands quite easily.

Complaining that you lose primarily due to the other person having better cards is like State complaining we lose in basketball and football because the other teams have better players. While it may be (partially) true, it doesn't make you less lame.

i'm rank 15 now omg. finally. I don't even WANT rank 14. fuck the leper gnome

oh and fuck hunters. all of them just fuck them all fuck em

oh real cute mister priest you just mind control the "get my ass out of the fire" creature because you can't draw your own

FUCK YOU

p.s friend me or whatever it is on hearthstone. I've got the most fucking WONKED out incomplete mage deck. nothing fully synergizes except the secrets and my kirin tor mage, but everything else synergizes just a LITTLE bit. enough.

Also in case you haven't figured it out, never keep more than one creature on the field vs hunters past turn 4. yeti is perfect for this.. as it is for freaking everything

making uth a 3-drop isn't really a fix... the OP combos (buzzard, hyena, etc) are still what makes hunter broken. Honestly, warlock zoo decks are just as broken IMO, it's RNG just like hunter agro, but with better odds.

I like playing ramp druid right now, but I think I might have to change to mid-range b/c of all these stupid agro decks.
