At age 30 you are talking about things you accomplished when you were 18 instead of the things you will accomplish going forward. Less and less people will care each year about what you did a long time ago. 11/22/2014 5:35:38 AM |

Just because I met the players due to playing football in their towns or with their sons somehow relates to my life achievements? I see no connection there. Are you one of those guys that never got off the bench in football and all you saw in my statements was football? You said more about yourself in that sentence than you did about me, it doesn't follow any logic, at all.
I thought I was having a short back and forth with TreeTwista10 about meeting some NCSU greats and you do some half baked analysis of my 2-3 sentences? What about when I met David Thompson when I was 9 in Lowe's and got that basketball and photo signed? What does that say about me? haha
lol, I didn't even say if I started, I simply said "played Football" (is that an achievement?).

If he keeps up this pace (4.8 bpg), then he'll have the 4th highest average in NCAA Division I history. The Admiral, Adonal Foyle, and some dude from Central Connecticut State are ahead of him (5.87). Fucking Jackson State game is really bringing him down. 11/24/2014 4:29:35 PM |

Shit. I'm from Shelby and my mom went to high school with DT and sat with him at lunch. She gets weird when she talks about those days so I wonder if he slipped her the Thompson.
Either way, go get some Anya. 11/25/2014 1:53:14 PM |

Quote : | "In UNC’s previous five games, Kennedy Meeks, Brice Johnson and Isaiah combined to average 41.4 points on 64.7 percent shooting. That efficiency took a nose dive against a Wolfpack frontline that utilized its bulk – primarily BeeJay Anya and his 6-foot-9, 295-pound frame – to frustrate the Tar Heel bigs." |
Quote : | "“He was just being a space eater,” Johnson said. “We’ve got to do a better job of getting him away from the basket so our guards can be able to drive into the lane. He blocked six shots out there, so we’ve got to get him out from around the basket. He’s a terrific shot blocker.”" |
Quote : | ""Pump fake and go at him strong,” Williams said. “Don't pump fake 17 times and try to take the softest shot in the history of basketball. You've got to be tough; it's a physical game. You've got to be strong and if you don't have a good shot throw it back out and re-post."" |

Mother fucking monster.
UNC's frontcourt has been beasting people all year and he pretty much shut them all down (yeah..Meeks had a decent game, but a few of his buckets were wide open dunks off of breaks or defensive breakdowns).
That was fucking impressive. 2/25/2015 11:15:51 AM |

now at 76 blocks single season school record is 95 feasible if we play a couple games in each tournament and he gets good minutes. possible without that many games, but he'd have to have monster games. 2/25/2015 6:02:41 PM |

Shocked he's 6th man of the year. Really did not see that coming. But congrats...at times he's been downright dominant defensively. Not always effective some games...maybe just a style of play or matchup thing. 3/8/2015 3:41:50 PM |

Since when has the ACC given out a 6th man award? Congrats to Anya as he won this on the back of his awesome block rate, but apparently there were not many other ACC bench players worth a damn - maybe Matt Jones of Duke?

i too was surprised both at the award's existence and Beejay getting it.
needs 11 more blocks to tie single season school record, 12 to break. two games in ACCT and two in NCAAT would make those realistic possibilities. up to 130 career blocks, 77 from tying Bailey's career mark. 3/8/2015 4:36:26 PM |

yeah not sure how I missed that but now I know. I think it's important to be able to ask questions. I grew up with my mom and just never followed sports closely until college so a lot of stuff that comes second nature to y'all are things I've had to really research on my own over the years.

I still find it remarkable that a dude as big and cumbersome looking as him can still keep his feet under him as well as he does in the post. And, he rarely gets caught in the air due to his impeccable timing. Watching him blocking shots is some of the hottest shit that I have ever seen from a husky guy. 3/9/2015 3:07:47 PM |

Thought this quote from Gott after the Syracuse game was pretty interesting:
Quote : | "I’m on him hard on him [Beejay], and I’m not excited at all about where his weight is right now. I think if he ever gets serious, truly serious about becoming a great player and knocking another 20 or 30 pounds off his body, he’s going to become one of the best players in the country. He hasn’t gotten there yet. We’ve got to get him there, and that’s the next step for him. He can become really something special." |

thanks for posting that. pretty much agree with what he said. although Anya has obviously improved a lot since last year thanks to getting his weight down, it'd be awesome if he could trim up a little more. he needs to be able to play longer without tiring and be able to run/power walk the floor consistently (which would include lining up for rebounds when our team is shooting free throws instead of hanging out on the other end of the court) to maximize his potential.
he'd likely be a little more agile with his post moves too, but he needs to work on catching the ball first. i was surprised in the Syracuse game how often they gave him a clear path to the basket from 8 feet out and he didn't just power his way in there. if there's no one outside the restricted area to take the charge, he needs to just barrel towards the basket and let the defense deal with the consequences (which will likely include a dunk, a blocking foul, and/or a defender who has learned his lesson) 3/10/2015 12:21:13 AM |
