Maybe Lewis could read the tarot cards, and didn't see himself getting much playing time next season? Like, if Warren leaves, they will probably need a point better at making his own points, like Barber. 3/29/2014 10:12:39 PM |

There's a thread about it on PP. Apparently they played well and combined for 35 points, and one of them had a sick dunk at the end of the game. They were interviewed after the game, and NC State and Abu were mentioned a few times.

They looked really good yesterday. Very athletic. Only concern is I'm not sure their strengths mesh well with our schemes. Seem to me they would fit well at VCU with the press and corner 3s. 4/4/2014 8:54:28 AM |

I don't see how getting "athletic" guys is a step in the wrong direction .
State just struggled through close to a decade where the overall team was comparably out of shape. Sid Lowe didn't even require gym workouts according to Lo Brown. The days of Cheeseburger Costner, pre-beast Howell, McCauley, and Vandy were tough to watch. Really wore out my "underdog" card knowing those were our best post players.
I fully welcome a team full of athletic players for a change. The system should adapt to the players. If not, then we have a coaching problem. They gotta guard us too, pal. (doh!) 4/4/2014 4:39:37 PM |

Eh, think that top 25 is making the assumption that Warren is going pro(safe guess). If Warren comes back I can't imagine us not being around the 23-25 area, just based on ACCPOY/hype.
Can't imagine us being picked to finish any higher than we were this preseason with 3 starters not returning(Lewis, Warren, VANDY) and the ACC getting better overall. 4/8/2014 8:30:27 AM |

CBS giving us some love. Yesterday they named Cat one of five the "breakout players" of next year http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24519400/five-breakout-players-for-the-2014-15-college-basketball-season

Gott is an underrated coach. He's an excellent offensive coach, will play to his teams strengths and can fill holes in his roster. His defensive coaching is a fatal flaw, however, and it caps his overall ability.
Archie also appears to know how to coach offense really well. His stats at Dayton bear that out as does the eye test. Whether he is or isn't able to put together a good defensive team at a major program isn't known yet. After 15 years, it pretty much is known with Gott. If Gottfried could get his teams to play even average BCS-level defense he would be a top tier coach.
I wouldn't be concerned about Archie's recruiting if he came here. We've landed top recruits under every coach that didn't have self-imposed restrictions, and it's not like Archie has spent his entire coaching career at mid majors. 4/10/2014 2:18:46 PM |
packboozie All American 17452 Posts user info edit post |
NCSU, PNC, and being in the ACC recruit themselves. Archie just took a mid-major to an Elite Eight. Gott had a team loaded last year and lost to Temple. I like Gott, but I would trade in a heartbeat. Plus Archie is 35 compared to 47. But anyway.....
PG: Cat, Devonte Graham? SG: Lacey, Dez, Caleb Martin SF: Ralston, Cody Martin PF: Freeman, Abu C: Washington, Anya
Cat, Lacey, Turner will be as good as anyone in the ACC on the perimeter. Anya loses weight and look out. I honestly think we will be just as good as this year maybe better.
[Edited on April 10, 2014 at 2:25 PM. Reason : Biggest question is backup PG for 10 mins if Graham doesn't come. Lacey/Lee yuck.] 4/10/2014 2:23:45 PM |

Saying we had a loaded team last year is a little exaggerated. Our team last year was pretty similar in talent level to this year's Iowa State team. We were talented and grossly underachieved but were never at any point a National Title threat. 4/10/2014 2:28:45 PM |
