It's weird, between OSX for work and having used Windows 8/8.1 on my home desktop, I've gotten so used to search/hotkeys for launching apps that I haven't even touched the start menu since upgrading.

^Yeah it's very convenient for that.

^^Only thing I've ever used the start menu for is search anyway.

^^ i guess, but i think the charms bar was better at that (and it had a start button which the action center does not)

that's because it would be redundant to have a start button there too when you have one that persists in the bottom left corner.

My primary complain is it's slower than the age old freeware I use as a launcher (launchy). Even if my a split second it causes things to launch incorrectly. I'll use it for searching the file system for a file but launchy is still far better for internet searches or launching apps.

--Ok another huge bug. When you have a window on an external monitor then undock I can't find a way to move that window BACK to the primary laptop screen. In previous versions of windows you could alt-tab to it then move it over or right-click-move but none of those features work in Windows 10.

on a small screen tablet it's really tiny and the location makes it hard to press with your thumb, another button in a similar location to where it was on the charms bar is needed

at the bottom like most, not convenient for thumbs. The charms bar just worked a lot better on tablet, if they added back the start button the tablets would be a lot more usable with Windows 10.

It's disappointing because I haven't seen a use for the action center that's worth losing the functionality of the charms bar.

Windows Key + L/R arrow a couple of times will bring it back to the visible monitor.

^That's what I've always used in the past. I'm saying that doesn't currently work in my scenario like it used to. Could be the USB 3.0 dock, could be the specific application. Regardless I can no longer get a window back to the primary screen after un-docking. Just making a conscious effort now to move it to the primary screen before un-docking.

What do you mean? I was very clear on the issue:

I said in previous versions of windows you could alt-tab to it so it gains focus or right click on the icon and select 'move'. However these functions no longer work in Windows 10. Don't understand how clearer I could be...

Not to mention you guys are generally more intelligent than many people I deal with. I assume that was enough explanation. Also when I report a bug I'm not asking for help on how to do something I'm stating that there's some behavior that differs from previous versions of windows. As to whether it's a bug or not isn't really my decision to make but something that works in Windows 8 no longer works in Windows 10. All I was saying.

^^^Except you have shown yourself to be a .01% power user, and are obviously doing crazy shit that most people never even imagine. I literally can't replicate half the problems you are having. I have two laptops I tried this one, one with a OEM dock, the other a USB 3.0 dock, and both have the same behavior: legacy apps (win32/winforms) get trapped offscreen but can be pulled back with WinKey+Arrows, Most apps get auto-pushed back to the active monitor.

Windows 10 does a display handshake on ALL displays EVERY time you disconnect/reconnect them. So unless you're using Hydravision or some other display management software that fucks this up, I have no idea how you're having the problem.

Here's a suggestion: Do a screen recording and post it to youtube so we can see what the hell you're doing

Yeah I'll admit most of my problems are very unique and hard to replicate but they're things I do every day so when they don't work they have a huge impact on me.

The exact scenario is a Cisco VDI I'm using for a client. It disconnects when I undock (because it disconnects from lan) so the VDI screen disappears. When I try to log back into the VDI it pops up off screen and no matter what I do I can't get it to go back to the primary laptop screen. I can alt-tab or use the new windows key + tab to get the task view and I can see the VDI live but it's no where to be seen on the primary laptop screen.

If I get some time this weekend I'll do a recording.

Every time my coworker connects his computer to import new photos, the photos app imports ALL his photos again.

What's the fix for this?

About ready to ditch Windows 10 until they disable automatic driver updates. This is the second time that a Windows update has nuked my touchscreen and USB ports. It's getting ridiculous.

Found another odd bug. Office 365 is incompatible with OneDrive (standalone) but OneDrive is installed automatically with Windows 10. Every time I try to open a document stored on our Office 365 Sharepoint Excel (2013) tells me I'm running an incompatible version of office and it won't run. I exit'd out of OneDrive and it works fine. Only fix it to do a registry / services hack to disable OneDrive completely as you can't uninstall it from Windows 10...

Identified this on 2 other computers running Windows 10. Not sure if it's unique to our Office 365 / Office 2013 / Windows 10 combo but it's not good when Microsoft products aren't allowing each other to open documents.

Getting lots of failed updates. Specifically KB3093266. Today KB3097617 failed as well. This causes boot loops and my computer asking me to restart it every day. It's very annoying. Tried every fix online but nothing works. Lots of people are complaining about this...I hope there's a fix soon.

win10 is shaping up to be steaming pile of garbage. for all that they did right, they undid with unprecedented evils. they're now showing ads in the start menu, in addition to completely erasing the notion of privacy, which i feel is an unfair request from a product that costs money.

I wonder what happens to windows 10 if safe harbor isn't worked out.... is MS going to promise all the data they collect is kept in individual countries?

Still needs to be able to disabling sending anything other than registration codes and updates.
