I know we should have won this and the other three games this season with ease but it is nice to actually win these types of games with ease. In the past I would have almost guaranteed we would have blown at least one of those.

can you guys really not recognize that those plays are because of a few problems that good teams will take advantage of? the issue is not a few plays, it's that they are because of the same few reasons and we don't seem to be improving at them.

Big plays suck but that's what happens with the aggressive defense. Only one drive did they score a TD following big plays. I hate when scrub team gets a 40 yard big play but its nice when the aggressive defense was following those up with turnovers finally or 3 and outs. You should be forcing the issue against shit teams. They happened to execute a couple times against our schemes. I trust doeren to be conservative as potentially needed against better competition. But bottom line is this game was 63-13 on the scoreboard with the game plan against USA. No reason for any concern unless you truly believe doeren has only one game plan for every opponent.

It was nice to see Jacoby complete a deep ball last night. Vertical passing game and secondary are my two concerns going forward.

The Atlantic is going to be tough this year. Obviously us, FSU, and Clemson are solid squads, but BC and Syracuse are not the cakewalks I was hoping for. Outside of Wake, I don't know how anyone can call any of our games at this point ... win or lose. UofL game will tell us a lot. Should be a fun season.

of course good teams will score more than 13 points against us. of course we have weaknesses that other teams will exploit. That doesn't mean they will destroy us because every team on our schedule has weaknesses of their own as well.

There are people on both ends of the spectrum. Those who are hinting at 12-14 win seasons and are extremely overconfident/delusional.

Then those who have watched the first 4 games and come to the conclusion that 'good' teams are going to destroy us. Underconfident/delusional.... That is, unless this person has such high standards of a football team that the term 'good' would only apply to a Top 10 team, then yeah... we probably would get destroyed.

I haven't seen anything that worries me greatly yet from the Pack. I am more than cautiously optimistic this year.

Why can't we be in the Coastal Division?

^i agree. although i'm not sure i've seen/heard anybody actually suggesting 12 wins is reasonable. on one hand, it's encouraging to throttle these weaker OOC teams...something we haven't always done in the past (ODU, Ga Southern, Richmond in recent years). but, it's still shitty competition so it should all be taken with a grain of salt. i don't really think my preseason expectations have changed now that i've seen the team play....if anything my expectations have changed but based only on what other teams have done. FSU, Clemson, Louisville all not looking quite as impressive as i expected them to be.
