Didn't think we'd be great but I thought this would be a fun athletic team to watch, that would have some of the grit of our teams previously less talented teams that managed to do OK but be a bit more skilled with some depth. Turns out we just suck.

This team has no leadership. Free throws were abysmal. Turnover quantity wasnt so bad but the type of turnovers were atrocious. Cat should drive into the paint every play but we run this stupid offense instead. Im gonna try to stop watching until next year

sorry to be so negative but I just haven't seen anything redeeming from this team so far this year. losing Henderson really hurts. playing a Freshman that very well could still be playing high school ball (despite his good effort) in place of Henderson was probably a distant thought going into this season.

I haven't seen much improvement in the Martins - especially Cody. Anya is still being Anya. Abu looks good but if him and Freeman get in foul trouble like that it's going to be a long season.

who does LSU return - because if they're using 4/5 of the lineup from last year there's no way we beat them. we were lucky to get by them the last time around and that was with Lacey and Turner instead of Caleb and Maverick.

Our bigs got abused tonight, completely sickening. They flat out wanted it more, every loose ball and 50-50 rebound went to them. This team has a lot of work to do and honestly of all of Gotts teams, this one is the worst looking one I remember through the first couple of games. I was expecting a lot more from Freeman, Anya and Abu this season and only one has showed some signs of life.

Both of their good big guys went pro IIRC. Plus that Hornsby guy seems to be gone. Only name I really remember from last year is Tim Quarterman, but I haven't been following them closely/

As for us ... blahhh. It's not so much that we suck -- I sort of assumed we would -- but it's hard to even like this team for some reason. I know it's early, but we have no identity at all. Hopefully Henderson adds a lot when he comes back, but I don't have much hope.

yeah...kyle washington would be an asset on this team. he can actually score. he wasn't a great defender and took shots that were out of the flow of the offense. but at least he could put the ball in the basket. freeman and anya struggle mightily with that. and last night abu didn't do much either.

worst part about washington was his jumpers were taking shots away from cat, lacey, and turner - guys who were better shooters than him. but on this year's team i think he'd have a more important role.

its a shame too because its really his only flaw. its a critical flaw but it seems like a flaw that would be simple to fix. most coaches have inadequacies that can't just be fixed with a few decisions. it seems like gott must be misleading players and promising them false expectations and repeatedly not able to deliver. maybe if he tones it down we won't get players that are quite as talented, but perhaps they would stay for 4 years.

If KW had foreseen how much our trio of big men have regressed, then I think that he would have stayed because there is no question that he would be getting starting minutes on this squad. I really just don't understand what the fuck has happened with BJ, Leonard and even Abu to an extent. It looks like they really didn't put much work in during the offseason.

Of course, NardDog got injured and maybe he is just not fully recovered yet.

^^i said it somewhere else on here...but i'm convinced that anya just is not good at basketball. honestly, he hasn't regressed. he just hasn't improved. he can dunk and block shots just like he could his freshman year. he's slimmer now, but his game hasn't improved. maybe so much of his offseason is spent losing weight that he doesn't actually practice his basketball skills.

as for freeman, i thought he showed good promise his freshman season. but he kinda is that same player he was then. solid defender, doesn't make many mistakes, solid rebounder (although nobody was last night), but can't really do much offensively aside from putbacks. it's discouraging to see those guys not take the steps forward that we all hoped for.
