^^ Yeah have to think Mclendon was pushing it some since Finley has had a solid showing, probably trying to make something happen cause he's worried about the job.


Which is why you don't want a QB competition in games but its fine as long as we come out of this game with a dedicated starter.

^Understand that but we did come in with a plan for a gametime tryout essentially.

I'd say Finley is making some quality decisions, very important

But I'm not convinced his arm is all that strong. I'm no great evaluator of talent, but some of his longer balls just hang in the air for fucking ever (it seems). Especially when he his throwing on the run (makes sense, that's hard). Won't matter against W&M, will be a liability against ACC defenses that are capable of stacking the box and forcing us to throw.

stacking the box doesn't make you throw deep. he seems to be pretty good at zipping accurate balls out to the sideline. he doesn't need a deep ball to spread the d. we have a ton of guys who can make guys miss after the catch.

I think the coaches were somewhat settled on Finley from the start of the game, that's the only explanation.1 McClendon only got like <5 snaps so far. Put his ass in and see if he can run up the score. I want to see what he can do.


Then, as if on cue, they put him in on a 4th down, wtf? Then sub his ass out and put Finley in?


If there was a real competition between the QBs they would have given McClendon a ton more time. They have almost zero footage to evaluate him.

Maybe they were settled on Finley (he got the first chance) but on those <5 snaps McClendon had a fumbled snap and threw a pick. Meanwhile the offense went 4 for 4 on scoring touchdowns with Finley at QB in the first half.
