Was at the game on Sunday. Halftime "Ring of Honor" induction was awesome -- especially Smitty's hidden jersey reveal. Chills...

Anyway, the most surprising thing was the anti-Cam sentiment around the stadium.

I talked to a few dozen people tailgating, in the stands, waiting in the beer line, etc, and asked what they thought about Cam coming back. Everybody -- and I mean, EVERYBODY -- had basically the same reaction: They don't want him starting. A lot of people don't even want him on the team. They're over the inconsistency, sideline antics, weirdass outfits, etc

It was shocking. And these weren't just 40-year-old white guys I was talking to. Got me thinking: Even if Cam comes back healthy (and all indications are he'll be back as the starter in a few weeks), I feel the moment he makes a bad play, the boos are going to rain down.

No one is going to want Cam back unless we start losing, that's just the nature of the beast.

With Cam we were losing, with Allen we're winning, and people like winning. I think the Allen hype is fizzling as more teams get film on him, but he's still doing more for the offense than Cam.

Unless we have a 100% Cam(whatever that is now) that is mobile, there is no upside to putting him on the field while we're still winning.

Lol people are fickle as hell.

1) Obviously they’re over his inconsistency- that’s obviously frustrating but that’s also due largely to his injuries. So the hope and expectation would be that’s less of an issue once he’s healthy.
2) what sideline antics? Truly, I don’t know. I remember a lot of celebrating and goofing around in his mvp year, but what has he done lately? Besides, it’s not like he’s having fights and arguments on the sidelines.
3) people bitching about outfits are dumb as fuck. People wear whatever they want and it shouldn’t matter and it doesn’t effect their job performance.

In 2018 he was having a pretty damn good year prior to injuries. He had the highest completion percentage of his career last year. If he’s healthy he’s damn good. People have short term memories

The Inconsistency is the only thing that bugs me, but is most attributed to his injuries. I don't want him in there if he can't execute. He has never been a terribly accurate passer, but he has won a lot of games. Most of that is due to his ability to run when nothing is open which keeps a defense honest. I don't think Kyle Allen is the permanent answer at QB but if Cam comes in and continues to play like has since last years Pittsburgh game then he needs to be benched.

Rivera is coaching for his job more than likely so he is not going to put Cam in there if he thinks he can't go, but since Cam has said he basically lied to the training staff about his foot injury they need to be cautious.

This does have a similar feeling of the last Jake Delhomme years when his consistency was gone and people were clamoring for Chris Weinke.
