Premier League fans could soon have another super rich club to hate.

Quote :
"Paris Saint-Germain's owners want to buy another European club and have their eyes firmly on the Premier League.

Ben Jacobs of CBS is reporting that the club's top brass, Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), are "ramping up efforts" for another team to invest in.

They are in dialogue with a number of Premier League clubs, most notably Tottenham Hotspur. It's said Nasser Al-Khelaifi, chairman and CEO, held an "exploratory meeting" with Spurs chief Daniel Levy in London last week."

^^^If those rumors are true does Conte stick it out? He chose a club that doesn't spend despite having the funds to do so.

The only way Potter gets sacked is if Chelsea get relegated and thats not happening. They can only wallpaper over holes so many times. The Abramovich era of yo-yo managers is over. They are actually building a squad and like the Arsenal rebuild its going to take time, you have to move dead weight out and that includes players on high wage bills. Unfortunately Boehly and Co. overspent on unecessary players this summer (Auba, Cuccurella, Koulibaly). The key is still midfield, central defense will be ok once Fofana overcomes his injury and Colwill returns from loan. They are going to take some big hits financially this summer. Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, Havertz, even Mason Mount could all be moved. Along with Jorginho and Kante leaving on a free. Lot of dead weight to clear out.

I think I was defending Liverpool leadership earlier this year re transfers, but not sure how to read the lack of action as anything but surrender for this season. Napoli is gonna run us out of the stadium.

So I am sure the non Chelsea fans are all pissed, but my god what a window

Enzo Fernandez
Joao Felix (loan)
Mykhailo Mudryk
Benoit Badiashile
Noni Madueke
Andrey Santos
David Datro Fofana
Malo Gusto (Loaned back to Lyon for Remainder of Season)

Christopher Nkunku joins in summer

Out:
Jorginho (getting any money for him is great as he was going to be gone on a free in summer)

Chelsea got younger, still have a lot of players that don't fit system and need to be sold, Pulisic and Gallagher are probably the highest valued assets to sell. Thinking they will need to sell Koulibaly he just hasn't meshed with the EPL style of play.

Top 4 is goal and only being in 2 competitions will help with the injuries we have had. Also have a realistice chance of UCL quarterfinals as Dortmund's defense is pretty poor.

Apparently they fucked up a loan of Ziyech to PSG. Prob a dont care for fans, but kinda funny

Top 4 seems wildly optimistic, basically have to hope Eriksen injury torpedoes United

slightly embarassing, feel bad for Ziyech but he could have pushed this move sooner instead of on deadline day.

PSG were cheap and it was only a loan with no buy option. Pulisic is injured so it not like he won't get some game time. He can push a move in summer and will probably be successful

I'm still a noob with contracts and trade windows. I heard on the radio that we (Chelsea) can only add three of these signings to the current UCL roster?

Fuck FFP, amiright?

As long as marathon mount, sterling and havertz are guaranteed minutes in their front 6, you could add 4 Enzos and their attack would still be shit.

^^^yes I believe they can only register 3 more, Jorginho is one of the slots and Broja is the other, I think they can unregister one more and heard it maybe Bettenelli. But if the player is under 22 they can go on B List and could still play if an A list player is injured, from my limited understanding. Obviously the ones registered would be Felix, Fernandez, and probably Mudryk. Badiashile will probably miss out and that stinks as he has looked steady in his 2 PL matches.

I get the vitriol from other clubs. My response is cry harder non of the people on her are supporters of broke clubs. The PL has the most money of any of the European leagues. They are going to probably going to bankrupt Barca.

Chelsea were basically sent to near bankruptcy because Abramovich had ties to Putin, despite the fact that the owners of Newcastle and Man City have ties to equally awful government regimes.

The new ownership group is basically having to rebuild the Chelsea squad thanks to Marina and Abramovich having no vision and turning over managers like they change socks. Because of the restrictions placed on us we had to replace 2 CB's who basically left because we couldn't negotiate a new deal (Christensen was going to leave regardless, but we had a shot with Rudiger). The new owners really didn't have a plan because the deal was finalized right before window opened. They just played football manager and got embarassed by Brokelona on a number of transfers. They had to spend big on the backline, 2 CB's were needed and a replacement for Alonso was needed and all were addressed though not successfully. Most pressing need has been the midfield which is finally being addressed but it has not been cheap.

Who knows if what they are doing will work, but the fact that pundits are so upset tells me it may pay off. Top 4 is probably optimistic, but with the talent Chelsea have now they can absolutely make up 10 points in the 2nd half of the season.

In City's defense, the last time I checked the UAE isn't waging a totally unprovoked and unnecessary war that has killed thousands of civilians and caused worldwide economic devastation.

I know probably noone else gives a damn about Leeds, but they dominated the entire field today except for one unlucky shot from NF. FFS is there any reason bamford is a premier league player that I am missing? The dude has the most horrible first touch since our friend Gyasi Zardes and never controls it for hold up play. They had chances, but yet again they can't finish.

It's a damn shame that if Sinisterra and Gnonto hit their shots yesterday--both from the six--then he still has a job. If Bamford doesn't bork up 3 solid breakaways with pathetic first touches, then maybe those turn into something.

I feel bad for Marsch and it's a bit surprising at this point since they just spent a decent chunk of change in the January window. Leeds has also looked like a better team than just about everyone they have played against outside of the top 4-6. They have gotten incredibly unlucky with early goals against. I'd love to see the xG stats for their games.

That said, I know some US fans will be clamoring for him to take over the USMNT, but as someone who has watched just about every Leeds game this season, I'll pass. We do not need another system guy. He seems to be a great man manager and a good dude (at least he never kicked his wife), but his inflexibility with tactics just doesn't work. I mean, yeah he doesn't have a striker. OK, well don't design your offense on playing frantic/fast passes straight to Bamford when he has bricks for feet. The back four on Leeds are bottom of the league quality, then don't design your defense around a high press that leaves your defenders out to dry consistently.

Leeds are 8 points behind their expected points, basically a mid table team by X. Only west ham have a bigger negative gap.

Bamford has an XG of 5

That xG stat matches my eye test. Mid-table seems right for them. I hope the next manager can turn it around with Rutter and McKennie getting fully integrated. Unlucky for Marsch I guess. Then again, I don't know who else is to blame when you keep playing the same way expecting different results.

That Bamford stat is pretty insane considering 1) he was out half the season so far with injury and 2) Most of his poor touches are in not receiving passes cleanly before they would be counted as xG. There was a point early in the season where I am pretty sure Aaronson would have been the premier league leader in assists if it weren't for Bamford fucking up.

This motherfucker Bamford would have hammered the ball to the touchline with his brick feet if Marsch was head coach but manages to play a perfectly weighted ball to gnonto on the goal once Marsch is fired.

The fix is in. I say we need to throw some tea in the harbor in protest.

^^ yeah pretty much. The chaos does produce some chances (summerville should have scored the one from 8 yds out that he skied over), but there is just not enough quality to capitalize on it. So game after game, you have them dominate huge swaths of the game and then one play from the opposition puts the game away or levels it.

Marsch is taking over Southampton. It would be poetic justice if he kept them up and Leeds get relegated. Not sure if I can watch southampton games though.

Yep, looks like they were looking for a short term miracle from Marsch and he wanted to be part of the promotion push next year in the championship. Bummer that Marsch didn't get a shot, but I am glad he has enough leverage that he felt like he could pass.

As a Chelsea supporter, Real Madrid have more goals than us in one Match since 11/02/22

Looking at Potter's past managing stints it takes his teams a while to get going, but I know a lot of supporters are getting more agitated. Goal Scoring though isn't a Potter problem its been a problem for several years.

At least Liverpool is having as rough a season as us. TAA may be one of the best crossers in the world but his defensive skills are really poor without Konate as cover he looks even worse.
