True, Kimmel didn't even really say anything about Kirk. His comments were about MAGA's reaction to the assassination, and how Kirk's death was being used to score political points.

I think it is just accepted that Trump was going to try to 'Cancel Kimmel, and this was just a convenient excuse to do so. Just like it is a convenient excuse to go after individuals who say means things about MAGA on the internet.

Was this response to Kimmel overblown? Absolutely.
Is MAGA denouncing hate speech, or insufficient mourning of Kirk hypocritical? Yep.
Is the use of the FCC's approval of the Nexstar and Tegna merger as a method to exert control over the stations within its purview a violation of freedom of speech? I would say so.


The sad part is that TV stations, universities, media outlets, and businesses capitulating to Trumps mafia-like strong arm tactics is only going to empower this administration to act even worse.
