i dunno, 200 bucks buys some decent stuff/pays some bills in my world. i guess some people are just really careful with all the scams going around on craigslist. can't say i've ever heard of fake money being one though. 4/11/2007 12:57:43 AM |

The money marker guy has probably been scammed that way before or knows someone who has. He may not even be planning to check the money. It's like putting up alarm signs in your front yard even if you don't have an alarm. 4/12/2007 11:51:24 AM |

I was wondering if anybody knew of anyone selling a Suzuki GS500F, or a Ninja 500? They are about the only bikes I can touch the ground on Or if you can recommend a different bike that might be suitable for some 5'4" then let me know because I am having a hard time finding one (thats not a cruiser)! 4/17/2007 1:59:11 PM |

Have you looked at a sv650, squirt rides one and can pretyt much handle it, and its a nice bike. Get her to take you for a ride on it or somethin. 4/17/2007 2:09:17 PM |

her bike doesnt have passenger pegs so that would be silly. and she can handle it quite well not 'pretty much' handle it.
being 5'4 u could fit on a cbr f2/f3. or just lower whatever bike u get and ull be fine.

i am not too big a fan of the SV, yet I haven't really seen any for sale either. but i heard the more you lower it the more you take away from the handling?

yes, lowering ruins the suspension dynamic. not to mention dragging pegs alot easier.
honda hawks and suzuki bandits are pretty low also.

^^i doubt ull come even close to dragging pegs or pushing the bikes to it's limits.
sv650's pwn dont hate. not a lot are for sale bc ppl hold onto them. 4/17/2007 4:08:51 PM |
BigBlueRam All American 16852 Posts user info edit post |
it's not hard to drag pegs on one that's been lowered even riding moderately.
the main concern is it absolutely ruins the dampening, rebound, etc. of the suspension.

^^this i know. just sayin... if she's 5'4 she could lower it to learn on. then she could return it to stock height once she learns how to keep the bike up with one foot, better at moving it around etc.
i mean im not really experienced on this topic bc im notta shorty 4/17/2007 10:20:44 PM |
BigBlueRam All American 16852 Posts user info edit post |
yeah, but you don't really learn a whole lot by lowering it then going back to stock. sure, i guess you might learn how to go in a straight line/take off easier, but it'll be like a whole new bike for cornering/turns. imo, it's better to learn proper technique up front.
the lowered bikes i've ridden were all twitchy as hell too. even a stock bike can be a little un nerving when you get a bump mid corner, but a lowered seems to amplify any ill handling characteristics.
to me, a lowered sport bike is even more useless that one with an extended swing arm. at least the arm has some level of function.

hey, keep in mind that you don't have to be able to put your feet on the ground.
my last bike was a GSX-R 750, and i could only put my toes on the ground (unless i only put one foot down). You'll be fine.
Hell, if you ever ride a motocross bike, you'll find that you can't really put your feet down much at all, unless you're Shaq.
just don't lower it. absolutely ruins a perfectly good motorcycle.
Quote : | "it's not hard to drag pegs on one that's been lowered even riding moderately." |
haha, my (stock height) GSX-R's footpeg feelers were grinded down to a sharp edge from being dragged so much.

seriously. i was on my toes with pwnt's klr650, and i'm 6'1". until we blew out the rear shock anyway, then i could flat foot it. 4/18/2007 11:35:05 AM |
