I got an offer from a bank to work in their corporate office on a contract (potentially to full after 90 days) as a Financial Project Manager yesterday. I'm going to accept it unless I get a better offer from the company I'm interviewing with this morning downtown.

It's what I want to be doing and commiserate with my CA salary, which I didn't expect. Long road is finally over for at least a little while.

Job market in the Triangle is definitely starting to get stronger again...

Pretty sure that I held the record in this thread for the longest period of un/underemployment.

All good streaks have to come to an end at some point. Got offered as a CFD nerd at a company in Greenville, SC doing support work for GE gas turbines. Pumped as hell about it.

Tis the start of a new financial year for a lot of companies. The government started theirs in October when I worked at the shipyard. Very glad that you all are finding work!

I've got an interview-esque thing on Monday and there's another interview elsewhere that I'm trying to get set up.

I've made my decision; I'm not looking for jobs anymore after these last two. If neither of these pan out, I'm just going to bite the bullet and go to Texas come 2011. It isn't what I want, but I am basically guaranteed a job down there, and I'd be a fool to not take it. I'm increasingly convinced that I'm not going to get hired by anybody, at least in NC. I'm starting to feel unemployable, and I'm sick of it. I'm done getting my hopes up and getting trolled by companies that have no intention of hiring my ass.

the job I interviewed for went to someone else. I feel like crap and feel like giving up but I just can't. I just don't know what to do anymore.

good timing with this job offer. Got a note saying I had 2 weeks or less of unemployment benefits left when I filed the weekly certification last Sunday.

I received a 40% raise yesterday.

I should have my new truck by Christmas.

Unemployment sucks - I was there forever, but once I got to where I was supposed to be going, my whole life got better.

I'm really close to landing another job pretty soon. It will pay even less than my last position, but money's not terribly important to me atm. There's also the possibility of advancement if the company can start bringing in the kind of money it wants to bring in. If I can duke it out for long enough either way, there'll at least be one more good recommendation that I can use.

I hate myself for getting my hopes up, because the answer can still be no. But I have such a good feeling about this previous interview.

Don't think I would've survived a year. I barely made it 7 months without wanting to go jump off of a bridge at the possibility of having to move back home. Luckily 1 of the 4 interviews I had in one week panned out and all seems well after 3 days on the job.

I GOT A JOB!

But even now, I still can't manage to get my guard down completely. Any number of things can still go wrong; I might not be a good fit afterall, the work might demand more than I currently believe it will demand, my boss can turn out to be a huge asshole, etc. I'm happy that my job situation is over, but I wish I could believe that it's over for any decent amount of time. Instead of thinking that I have a job, I think that I have a job for now. Again. Until......

^ are you not going to follow up? Honestly, unless you know you're in a much better situation or are just not interested... I'd try to meet with them. I worked for NCSU and the pay was good and the benefits were great.

Plus, you have an extra bargaining chip now in that if they want you, they have to entice you to leave your current position. Doesn't hurt to hear them out and consider your options.

I'm probably better off where I am. Benefits would probably be better at State but the job I have now is a good bit closer and more secure. The position with State was funding based and could be pulled out from under me whenever and apparently if someone else got cut, they'd get priority for the position I'd be in.

^the whole incident with NCSU really screwed it up for you, right? Arent you about 30 now?

I had an interview this past Friday for a promtion within the same agency....I am one of the top 12 (they had narrowed down from 100). There are two positions, hopefully I can get one of them, if not, oh well, I have a job.....and good practice....
