I'd rather they never reveal what turns someone into a zombie, especially if they're leaning towards magic as the cause. A virus I can at least suspend my disbelief enough to buy into it, magic on the other hand is too Harry Potter. They'd just have someone reverse it with magic.

The guy in the tank was a walker and came to as Rick was pulling his gun and grenade off of him. Rick then shot him in the head, the bullet ricocheted and the sound deafened rick for a few minutes.

I'm not refuting your theory, as it would be pretty easy for the guy in the tank to pick up an airborne virus (seeing as how nearly everyone in Atlanta became a walker, it seems). Either way, the guy in the truck on the highway still confuses me. I'll have to rewatch that ep to see if he has any head wounds.

And it's dumb to believe that cars or tanks are air tight. Based on what we've been shown, the soldier in the tank could have feasibly contracted the "virus" either way: no scratch or bite but caught airborne then died of dehydration/starvation, or he could've been bitten/scratched but retreated to the tank and then suffered the slow fever death/turning.

To me, the only questionable point raised ITT is the guy in the car that Carl found.

Here's a random hypothetical scenario: if a person dies in a car whilst buckled in and then turns, would the resultant zombie be able to unbuckle themselves or break free, or would they sit there struggling to get out like a jackass until their demise?

That being said, I think the zombies in TWD are a little different. They showed from very early on that they could turn door knobs, and perhaps more importantly, knew or figured out that they needed to turn the door knob to get in. They also showed one climbing a ladder after Rick.

^ just fyi, the audio book is actually pretty good. I read WWZ years ago, then recently listened to the audio book while on a long road trip. They exclude some of the stories, but what they include is well done. Good cast too: Alan Alda, John Tuturro, Carl Reiner, Rob Reiner, Henry Rollins, Mark Hamil, etc.

I'd go with the book if possible. But figured it's worth mentioning it for those who can't seem to find the time to read the book, and wouldn't mind listening to it on their trip to/from work and what not.

man i read the post that said "finally he's dead!" before i watched that episode and was really hoping it meant Carl. did you see him throwing rocks? what a fucking pussy. i thought he was supposed to turn into a badass, but the kid obviously has no coordination (IRL) so if there is gonna be some transformation they need to re-cast him. or just kill him, he sucks.

Well, it could be two different things. The virus is airborne and everyone has it. But zombie mouths contain extremely deadly bacteria which can kill a man in a day.

What this means is quite horrifying. If grandma dies of a stroke during the night, she would then proceed to eat the rest of the family.

^ hopefully they'll use the additional screen time to make those characters more likable. I'm sure T-dog was pretty pumped when he heard that both Dale and Shane were getting killed off. And I wish they'd stop calling him "T-Dog." I'm guessing that's from the comics... but it seems pretty forced on the show.

Nope, T-Dog(g?) isn't in the comics. There's another character named Tyrese who is actually quite a prominent and well-developed character. When the show started, I figured that T-Dog would be his analogue, but that certainly hasn't panned out...

I really enjoy this show but sometimes the stupid things the characters do and the writer's lack of attention to detail can be annoying. There's been at least 2 incidents in this season where it apparently gets dark within minutes. The scene that ends with Rick shooting those 2 guys in the bar and the last episode where they go looking for Randall.

Sorry if that was already discussed. It's a long thread and I just got caught up last night. Looking forward to the season finale tonight.

Tyrese is what I would call a "contributing" character in terms of the group's survival. He's not part of the group at the very beginning, but once he joins up, he becomes a valuable team player. He's also a very capable hand-to-hand fighter. Tyrese and T-Dogg are thus far nothing alike.
