I lucked out and picked up Zach Miller as my Finley replacement. I was really only planning on using Miller for a few weeks while Finley gets healed up. This is bad news, Finley was essentially a 4th WR on my roster 10/13/2010 11:48:25 AM |

If he isn't already taken you guys better pick up Hernandez for NE....he's going to be a top-10 TE the rest of the way, or better.
He already leads the Pats in yardage, with Randy Moss. Imagine how he's going to perform without Moss.

Not sure I agree with that completely, but I do think he'll be valuable.
Don't want to overplay it, and I know this isn't a football X's-O's thread, but the loss of Moss means that you don't have to bracket WR's or sit with 2 deep safeties. This means that it's going to be harder for the underneath routes for both Welker and the TE's. Not saying they won't produce, but the defenses will be drastically different against the Pats from this point forward, even if someone like Tate becomes their deep threat. 10/13/2010 12:09:16 PM |

Finley is expected to make a full recovery and be perfectly fine long term, but his status for the remainder of the 2010 regular season is bleak. He won't be back on the field anytime soon, though he could potentially return by Week 13 or 14 if his rehab goes well. The Packers haven't made a decision regarding whether or not to place him on the IR, and unless they do that, it will be tough for fantasy owners to part with a top tight end that could be back in time for the fantasy playoffs. I don't want to be reactionary, but if this is the case, he's not worth keeping based on the hope of a week or two of performance. He's good, but he's not that good.10/13/2010 12:19:48 PM |

I'm definitely not gonna do that trade now that I know Finley is out for longer than expected. I'm thinking of counter offering with this (let me know what y'all think): I give: Antonio Gates I receive: Percy Harvin and LeSean Mccoy (and then I'd pick up a TE)
I'm not necessarily ttrying to trade Gates, but if I can fill some needs by doing so, I'd be open to it.
Then my WRs would look like: Driver, Austin, Harvin (with Mike Wallace and Walter on the bench) And my RBs would be: Chris Johnson, McCoy (with Beanie, Hightower, and Felix Jones on the bench...I'd probably drop Beanie to make the trade even and drop Hightower to pick up my TE) 10/13/2010 12:52:00 PM |

Just my opinion, but if i'm giving up the best tight end in the NFL, i'd like something better than McCoy + Harvin
I'd either want a stud RB or a stud WR, not 2 'pretty good' RB/WR
Gates already has what, 7 touchdowns this year? he's already a beast and he's pretty much having the best year of his career so far. But keep in mind I recently traded Ladainian for Gates, so I'm pretty high on AG 10/13/2010 1:05:11 PM |

Yeah Gates has been a monster so far this year. Like I said, I'm not hellbent on trading him. So I could just decline and move on.
That being said, his RBs are Gore, McCoy, Benson, and Shonn Greene. His WRs are Harvin, Jennings, and Roddy White.
Any ideas about what I should ask for? (I'm usually not good with trades) 10/13/2010 1:15:13 PM |

If you're going by standard ESPN scoring McCoy is only 5 points behind Gates. If you think he'd give you McCoy and Harvin (who has had 2 good weeks in a row) I'd be all over that.
and that "pretty good RB" McCoy is the #2 running back overall...

he's been very productive but a) he has a cracked rib, and its not gonna heal anytime soon as long as he keeps playing, and b) while he is 2nd overall, arian foster is 1st overall, but that doesnt mean they're better long term options than Chris Johnson, ADP, Gore, etc 10/13/2010 1:37:00 PM |

^way up I think the Pats use Hernandez as a WR2 and TE, splitting him out wide sometimes, etc. He's caught like 18 balls out of 20 targets and is in line for and increase in targets with the trading of Moss.

Would you guys give the nod to Eli over Schaub (vs KC)this week with NYG playing DET? Eli had good numbers last week...Schaub did not, although I wouldn't base my decision solely off last week's performances. Just trying to play the match-up game. 10/13/2010 3:46:31 PM |

I wouldn't be excited about either. With the way their defense has been playing, I wouldn't be surprised if Pittsburgh brought Ben back slow. Tough call. ____________________________
I was offered Andre Johnson for Jones-Drew in a 12 team league. The rest of my team stacks up like this:
WR: Roddy White, Miles Austin, Steve Smith (NY), Dez Bryant, Pierre Garcon RB: Jones-Drew, Ahmad Bradshaw, Jamaal Charles, Mike Bush, Reggie Bush, Marshawn Lynch
RB/RB/WR/WR/WR no ppr league
I think Andre will be right back to all-star form once the ankle heals and don't think the jaguars will do much at all this year. I think Jamaal Charles will be a decent replacement and if not hopefully Reggie or Marshawn will emerge.
What do you guys think? 10/13/2010 11:31:39 PM |

pick my RB2 (0.5ppr league):
Michael Bush @ SF (Run DMC practicing, but Cable said Bush is still the guy) Ryan Torain vs. Indy (Indy's run Def is shaky at best, and no one else is challenging him for carries)
pick my QB:
Aaron Rodgers vs. Miami (if he plays) Big Ben vs. Cleveland (great matchups, but might be rusty)
pick the RB, non-ppr league:
Marshawn Lynch @ Chicago (supposed to get the majority of the carries) Ricky Williams @ GB (#2 RB for Miami, but GB defense is missing a lot of guys) 10/14/2010 10:58:52 AM |

I keep hoping that every week will be the week they start Mathews and give him most of the carries, both for my fantasy team's sake and for the Chargers' sake. 10/14/2010 11:56:53 AM |

Ryan Torain or Marshawn Lynch?
also
From ESPN:
Calvin Johnson was at practice Thursday, but continued to heavily favor his right shoulder, the Detroit Free Press reports. Spin: The report adds that Johnson caught a handful of passes during the media portion of practice but used mostly his his left arm to do so. Johnson has not been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants, but unless he practices without limitations Friday, it doesn't look particularly good for him this week.
I'll ask again...Matt Schaub (vs KC) or Eli Manning (vs DET)? Only reason I ask, Yahoo and ESPN are both projecting Eli to have the better week. Thoughts? 10/14/2010 1:12:33 PM |

Pick 3, basically who would you not play = Hines Ward / Kenny Britt / Brandon Lloyd / Andre Johnson
Statistically, B. Lloyd I wouldn't play because he has the lowest projected points, but he's the TOP receiver of the bunch and put up 20+ points against the supposedly good Ravens

I would lean towards sitting Britt, but I'm no fantasy pro.
Guy that needs help at running back proposed this trade for me:
I get: Hakeem Nicks DeAngelo Williams
I give: Percy Harvin Jamal Charles
I have Forte/Johnson/Mendenhall as my running backs Moss/Ward/Harvin/Smith(car) as my wr's
Its obviously a downgrade in rb's, but will Nicks be better then Harvin the rest of the year, or will Harvin develop into a Wes Welker type?

NEED TO PICK 2
Calvin Johnson Braylon Edwards Percy harvin Steve Smith (NYG) Mike williams (TB)
My thoughts.....
Calvin is hurt, and the NYG will be able to drop 7 into coverage with the pressure their front 4 bring, so i'm not feeling it, Braylon is good, but good enough to start this week with these other options? Denver is giving up 23.2 pts per game which is dank Percy is back in his natural spot in the slot, which is good, he had a great game last week Steve smith - ITs detroit, nigga please Mike williams - He's the #1 guy in TB 10/14/2010 8:10:48 PM |

Prolly ROFLburger. Schaub is due for a bounce-back, but it won't happen against KC. KC's pass D is for real, particularly with Crennel calling the shots. Brandon Flowers is playing like one of the top 5 corners in the league.

W/R/T Flex - McCluster(@Hou) or Felix Jones(@Min)? Leaning toward the former for the return yards and potential to bomb Houston's pass D, but Jones has a higher point projection. This is assuming something doesn't come down that says Jones will start. 10/15/2010 8:59:46 AM |

Turner Best Mathews Torain Lynch Jennings Lloyd Bowe Holmes Knox
Do I bench Lloyd (vs NYJ) in favor of Bowe (vs Hou) because of the matchup? Is it time to bench Jennings, he's gonna be constantly double covered with Finely out? Are either of Torain or Lynch better than Mathews or Best this week? 10/15/2010 2:40:55 PM |

Definitely Turner and Best
I'd watch the Matthews situation carefully and make sure he's healthy. If he's not 100%, you might want to consider Torain there just based on the fact that he's getting the bulk of the carries.
Jennings is frustrating because he's always so inconsistent but your other options are as well (besides Lloyd). I'd go Jennings and Lloyd, with Holmes being the next in line. Watch the Aaron Rodgers situation there. 10/15/2010 3:35:22 PM |

Mendenhall - Home vs CLE A. Foster - Home vs KC Bradshaw - Home vs DET
It's a PPR league, but Mendenhall seems like a no brainer. I have Foster in there as well but KC has the the best D of the three opponents...BUT Jacobs is taking all goal line work from Bradshaw. I'm over thinking this, but damn it...it's a tough call.
