First day without world cup soccer, and this thread turns into a all-out bitch fest.

Anyway, I woke up today, and I was just sad. Just really, really, sad.

I have mixed emotions. I've had my fill for now. There are leagues playing all of the time, so you can always find a game to watch. I'm kind of glad it is over because I am ready to go outside and get some sun. I've been hiding inside in front of the tv for a month now. I need to call my friends up and ask them if they will let me use their neighborhood swimming pool, or I need to go play in a pickup soccer game.

Well, that's just brilliant analysis considering the entire country is populated by people less than 30. They killed off all the old farts in their efforts to rid themselves of the uneducated pariahs.

Try going into a hospital, a foreigner's visa office, or hell even walking onto a bus, and you will have to either speak German or bring somebody with you.

The other day I was shopping around for some beer and banjo strings, and had to go with my German. I will agree at some point that the younger generation can pull it off, but there are a bunch of employed older people here, too, you know, kind of like in the States...

^^true but the whole response was based on the wtf reaction of a young soccer players english. His demographic age group is what we are talking about. Tbh I talk almost solely to 16 to 30 year old women when I am in the country and not only is it easy to have thorough social conversations but they understand sarcasm and you can understand them over loud music unlike most eslers. Hell I cant even understand non english british over loud music.

Holy fuck, I know they all know English. There are enough Germans at Arsenal to understand that.

I only said it because Hummels was virtually accent free. He could've been from New England the way he sounded.

That was before the final. He set up kroos on a silver platter twice without Kroos getting a shot on goal.

Just shows that even off form be still creates tons of chances... now he needs to find his good form and then look out...

Are we hating on Ozil, now? He's a good player. Probably one of the best players ever with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

The Germans that I hang out with really hate the guy, and they make fun of his German all of the time. It would kind of be the equivalent of making fun of how charles barkley speaks or something, due to his accent. He is only technically a foreigner because of the laws here, but he is German born and has perfect German.

It is funny, I was at a viewing party and the crowd definitely booed him every time that he was mentioned.

Germans hate Turks. I am dead serious. It's a whole different level of racism over there.

^^ Basically, in order to prevent the minorities in Germany from changing and/or influencing the laws, they make it so that to be a voting citizen you have to have German blood in you. This is especially true for the Muslim population like Oezil. He is a third generation German-born Turk in this country, but yet he still would not technically have voting rights because nobody in his family was "born German", despite the fact that his grandparents were more than like raised if not born in Germany. Now, obviously if you are millionaire soccer player like him you can "buy citizenship", but for the ordinary person it wont happen. Quite sad that people have been living here for generations and are not considered German, and can not vote.

so in 2018 with the games being in Russia and they are so far ahead in time I assume it will go DOWN 29% on viewership wouldn't you think? Who honestly wants to go to Russia or Qatar? Also if Q loses the big, who gets it?

^ Again, it is worth saying that about half of those under 21 foreigners would be German by USA standards. And, everybody on the team now I believe is German born.

Just saying, their concept of a foreigner is completely different from ours. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, they still have a long way to go.

The German team isn't all racism

http://rt.com/news/173384-world-cup-stars-donate-winnings/

Quote :
" According to the UK-based Express, 25-year-old German football star Mesut Ozil has donated his World Cup prize money – totaling more than $400,000 for winning the tournament – to various charity projects in Brazil. The hefty sum is reportedly going to fund surgeries for 23 Brazilian children. "
