I usually wear a 9 and I had to get an 8. They didn't have half sizes in the mocs at Gap.

no coral or gray in 8.5

i suppose I'll just keep the 9s and use cushions in them...unless I can find 8.5s in store somewhere...

thank you DSW for a good sale, free shipping, and store returns on online orders

if they're made of suede, you will thank yourself for going down a half size

they will stretch like cray

I just ordered the Naked palette from Urban Decay thanks to NCSUHippie's birthday present. I am super excited for having some more nice makeup instead of the e.l.f./drugstore stuff I wind up using most of the time.

I spent the rest of my birthday gift cards on some summery sandals and gave myself a teal pedicure today to match. Birthdays are awesome

First world problem explanation:

My bff cleaned out her closet and gave me a trashbag full of designer clothes (some with the tags still on them!). The tops fit just fine (except one), but some of the shorts/capris are too big (she has a great booty and I don't fill them out as well). I was thinking about trying to tailor them myself, but I've never done it before and I would be doing it by hand. I have about 3 pairs of capris, 3 pairs of shorts, and 1 silk top that need to be taken in.

First world problem questions:

Have any of you tailored your own stuff before? How challenging was it? Can it be done by hand? If I were to go to a professional, how much does it usually cost per item?

Ditto, and it's usually not worth it unless you REALLY want the item. Hemming is one thing, but taking up slack around the waist and booty are much harder. They may still not fit quite right.

(I've had pants taken-in before, and it was $15 a pair)

I eat well for the most part and try to go to bed early . I don't exercise much past what I do while at work so that could definitely improve. I used to use melatonin but I don't want to do that again. I am getting enough hours of sleep but the quality sucks. Getting a new mattress is out .

Saw a dame wearing these for the first time the other day:

I was impressed, until I realized she didn't make them herself . Still cool, though.

Linda - pay the money to have them professionally tailored! I used to go to the tailor over by the HT on Western/Athens. I used to take my suits there and took a bridesmaid dress there too - incredibly professional and have great attention to detail. They're very reasonably priced as well. I would check them out.

I used the Macadamia Oil I got in my glam bag this morning and my hair has NEVER looked this good. It works better than the Moroccan Oil and it smells like cookies.

I finally found a pair of flats but will they look ok for wearing as a bridesmaid? These in grey:
http://www.amazon.com/Dr-Scholls-Womens-Joliet-Ballet/dp/B007TQ4LOE

Even if they don't want me to wear them to the wedding I want them anyway. Feels like a sneaker but looks much better in person than on the site (didn't have the grey at belk though, just black and bronze)

I hate shoe shopping and trying to find dressy flats in stock to try on is impossible (they are all super narrow or neon colors or have spikes all over them or zero padding or something). I feel obligated to buy flats since even with them I'll still be taller than the woman getting married.

These looked promising but I couldn't find any place that carried hush puppies flats so I could try them on. http://www.6pm.com/hush-puppies-sonnet-pewter-leather

Mascara recommendations? I like something that goes on nicely - I hate ones that are super thick/clumpy.

I have this dress in Spearmint which is just mint green:

Is it acceptable to wear my rainbows with it to a noon wedding on the beach memorial day weekend?

I have strappy metallic sandals and some champagne ballet flats, but neither of those are very comfortable.

Cass..I love Bobbi Brown "Everything Mascara" and Estee Lauder "Sumptuous"

I'm obsessed with my lashes, and people think they're fake because they have a natural curl to them...but they get noticed because these mascaras are my little secrets

I agree with DavidBaby on the Bobbi Brown mascara. I got some for free from a friend and it was amazing - looked good, didn't come off during the day but came off easy with a makeup towellette.

If you're looking for dressy/comfortable flats, I know Cole Haan has some styles with "Nike Air Technology," but I'm not sure what that means, and I haven't tried them yet:

http://www.colehaan.com/colehaan/catalog/pwp.jsp?l=shop,pwp,c-100/f-10001+70016+4294966122+4294966391

Most of those seem like they would be nice enough for a wedding. Definitely check to find out if you're supposed to wear something in particular.

so as far as weddings go, the rule is that the later in the day the wedding is held the fancier it is supposed to be? trying to figure out shoes. plus i guess i should get a bra for this dress. ughhhhh

I think that is right, Meg. I will probably wear my rainbows to the wedding I mentioned above. Getting ignored is better than getting berated, right?

Unless specified, that's correct, Meg. Usually if it's formal or black tie, the invite will specify. Nothing wrong with asking the bride though just to make sure.

I personally wouldn't wear rainbows to a wedding even if it was on the beach.
