I had one for my wedding. You don't want to get them all the time but sometimes is OK. You have to soak them in acetone to get all the stuff off. I got mine done on November 9th and we got back from our honeymoon on the 27th and they were a tiny bit chipped. I usually go about 12 hours before chipping my nails.

So some mundane lady stuff updates:

1. I cannot afford the shoes I want for the wedding. The shoes I found are okay, but I'm not over the moon about them. I have zero tastes when a budget is involved. It's actually a problem, especially since I already prefer a slightly cheap/trashy look to begin with.

2. I am addicted to ballet neck tops, and I'm very tempted to start wearing them to work.

3. I figured out the polite term to describe my boobs is "shallow." But a couple of my bras make them look high and huge, and it's impossible not to be extremely self-conscious about them. I'm worried I'll never be okay with my boobs, and I'm already too old for this silliness.

4. There's this sort of dancer-type look that I really dig. And I was a little, uh, jazzed at the mall...so I bought a ridiculous skirt that does not flatter me in the least. I swear I thought I looked fantastic when I tried it on, but I don't have the proper waist for it at all. The plan: I'm wearing it to a bachelorette party where everyone will be forced to drunkenly tell everybody else how great they look. Bring on the fake compliments!

hey ladies, I'm moving and getting rid of a lot of clothes. free to good home. I may take pics later.

Bridget - what size shoe do you wear? I may have something you can borrow if you're in the area.

^I'm a 10! I will rent from you!

^^So...they're really not good. I got obsessed with glitter, like this:

http://couture.zappos.com/kate-spade-new-york-charm-heel-silver-glitter-silver-liquid-suede

http://www.zappos.com/stuart-weitzman-bridal-evening-collection-litely-silver-mini-glitter?zfcTest=fcl%3A0

But I'm on a <$100 budget so I got these:

http://www.dsw.com/shoe/nine+west+karoo+platform+sandal?prodId=249095

They're really comfortable and not awful, I guess. I have no tastes.

I hear ya. There's a whole lot of limitations though:

1. They originally had to be strappy silver sandals. So I'm already pushing it with slingbacks.
2. I can tolerate a good deal of pain, but they have to be somewhat comfortable (I'm the MOH), and I don't want my scrunched up toes exposed.
3. Straps up around the ankles tend to cut my legs off. I'm average sized, and my legs are pretty normal. They don't look good in everything.
4. I want to be shorter than the bride who is minimizing her height so she'll be shorter than her dude. I'm 5'6.5" and I need to stay at or below 5'10.5".

Damnit, I shouldn't have brought this up. I was totally resigned to the ones I got, but now I'm thinking I really should try some more.

these are all silver and glittery and under $30...

they are from payless....i actually really like their Fioni shoes...

i know the heels are high though so they might be too much

Thank you guys for the recommendations. I walked through Payless very quickly and didn't see anything, but I didn't think about looking at their offerings online. All these options are gonna drive me crazy now. I've already bought and returned seven pairs of shoes for this thing.

^^ I am trying not to do that with my own wedding shoes. I have my eye on a pair of Badgley Mischka but was hoping to find a pair that wasn't quite that pricey. But I don't like anything as much as I like those, so I may just bite the bullet. If I keep trying to shop around I am going to waste a ton of time and brain cells.

^^^I was actually so desperate to be done with it that I trashed the packaging and the receipt. I'm stupid like that. So if I find something new, I'll have to wear the ones I got under jeans or something. LOL

^^You should just get them! It's miserable out here in sensibly priced shoe world.

I ended up ordering the Badgley Mischka shoes yesterday thanks to a 15% off sale.

And then I may or may not have spent the savings on two other pairs of shoes since my DSW rewards certificate expired yesterday and I couldn't waste it.

I keep meaning to go to Madewell, but I always park outside of Belk, then realize I don't feel like walking all the way down there.

Maybe next time I'll be smart and park in the middle

My mom loves the shopping bags they give you at Madewell

She was like "When you spend $200 there, they better have a nice bag"

^^^That is awesome!

I picked up some Cole Haan pumps with the Nike tech in them. They were on sale and crazy comfortable.

It feels good to have a shopping success after the glitter shoes business!

^^Walking the mall is my primary form of exercise.

I'm hosting one for fashionSPARK as a fundraiser on Sunday, June 9th. I'd love for you all to come out! It's only $5 to join in on the fun.

if you have access to percocets or the like, take 1/2 (or a whole, if you have nowhere else to be) about half an hour beforehand. otherwise, take a handful of ibuprofens, although I'm not convinced those do much. also, wine.

make sure you're good and clean (especially near your twosie hole, get that good with a washcloth). try to relax, if you can, but be prepared to sweat through your clothes, through the paper sheet, and through the bottom sheet.

it is going to hurt. depending on the painkillers you take or don't take beforehand, it is going to feel like someone is slaughtering your beaver with a cat-o-nine-tails and/or a dull, rusty machete. however, the worst pain is on your FUPA, everything else feels like a breeze after that (especially your twosie hole, that part is my fave).

ask your esthetician if you can help her keep your skin taught during different sections, that will definitely help (she will place your hands where she needs them).

don't go work out, have sex, or anything else vigorous and friction-inducing for the next 24 hours. she should clean you up afterwards and apply some sort of oil or toner. I always use witch hazel and argan oil on myself that night and maybe the next morning. after that, it helps to exfoliate down there while showering or whatever to help prevent ingrown hairs. if you DO get an ingrown hair (before it becomes inflammed/infected), you can just kind of scratch at it with your nail to pull it and the dead skin out (although I'm sure that's not officially recommended).

if you get it done regularly, the pain will become less intense (and you start getting "used to it"), and the hair will grow in softer and more sparse.

enjoy

i use witch hazel. it doesn't sting ever. yes i have used it after having a brazilian wax to help with the redness.

and it hurts or w/e but it isn't like world ending pain or anything. it's fast. go to someone that uses the hard wax not the strips. it's not that bad honestly.

There seems to be a lot of people who are wearing them under long gowns. Do y'all think they're okay for knee-length dresses?

I'm kind of in love with them now.

i really love those. i think a shoe like that needs to be shown as well and now hiding under a long gown, so a knee length dress is perfect.

I am pretty sure a girl just caught me looking at her ass at the mall. She was wearing a single-layer, thin white cotton dress, with a very poorly fitting pair of bright green panties underneath. To the point that I couldn't tell if it was a thong or bikini cut. I try really hard not to make fun of people. But damn.

Shawnac123, do you ever regret making this thread

when future moon archaeologists start digging and find this thread, I think they will be very interested.
The same kind of "interested" we are in the ancient skulls of trepanning "patients", roman coins with stamped murals of people banging kids on them and african tribes who suffer from a crippling illness caused by eating raw human brains.

Not knocking you, of course, but this thread is 87% flipflops and pre-nup loop-holes now.
