I know English well enough, but won't lower myself to speak it.

I'm going to a black tie wedding at the end of June. I don't really want to wear a full ball gown dress because it's in the middle of Summer. Is this dress appropriate or do I need something dressier? I don't really know the rules of black tie weddings in the Summer. :-/

I think it's really pretty!! But wait for diva or LK to see it...they seem to know more about that kind of stuff than me.

Thanks, I'd probably wear something over the shoulders as well. Dress it up with some jewelry maybe?

Yeah. I tend to be simple with jewelry...like wear just a necklace or just earrings, etc. but I think you can do more if you have the right jewelry and it isn't over the top. What kind of shoes are you thinking about?

I should clarify that I'm here in this thread to learn. I can give my opinion but I usually text a picture to Erica anytime I buy something I'm going to be seen in at an important event. Which is rare. So. Yeah. Lol

Ladies - wtf is up with a bachelorette party being such a freaken event! A whole weekend away costing everyone hundreds of dollars? What happened to just going out for dinner and to a bar/club to celebrate?

Ladies, a quick question.

What are the acceptable ways for a man to control his long hair?

Meg, mine was a beach weekend but my MoH paid for the house rentals, but even if she didn't we only would have paid about 20 bucks a person plus food and drinks. Our friends family owned the houses. The weekend was way cheaper than the original plan of party bus and bars downtown. I read somewhere that the average cost of being a bridesmaid is around 1500 dollars now. That fucking sucks.

Our wedding cost about 7500 dollars including the rehearsal dinner. Open bar and everything. Our marriage is just as legal as the average Raleigh couples wedding which cost about 30k.

Yeah I don't think I'll have a big wedding. I've always said I'd rather use that money on a down payment for a first home or a big month long trip or something.

I'm a fan of skipping the wedding and using the money on a house. Did just that and this house will be amazing when we are finished. You can't really get a renovation loan on a short sale, so this is the only way we could have afforded to buy and fix it.

I have a feeling I won't ever get married, which is probably good, because I like a lot of expensive stuff.

Also, bmel I'm not a fan of that dress...at all. But you can totes wear a cocktail dress to black tie...just make sure it's really dressy/fancy!

yea, er that blue/green dress has a pretty lace top but the bottom looks like a curtain in an elderly cat-woman's assisted-living condo

I think it just depends on who is hosting, age of attendees, where the actual wedding is and what kind of person the bride is/what she wants. I see the benefits of both scenarios.

I'm 30. Let's get the hell out of town and party like an adult.

I think a cocktail dress you'd be a ok an LBD would be perfect and easy.

we're wearing tea length strapless navy dresses in taffeta.

well when the person hosting is poor and expected to spend $400+ for herself (which she can't afford) and $400+ (which she definitely can't afford) for the bride over the course of the weekend..... W T F

i mean, i have friends who took all their friends to vegas for a weekend (bride's and groom's) and had a huge party with expensive liquor, strip clubs, shows, fancy dinners, etc. but they could afford that so more power to them.

The shoes arrived, and they are perfect.

Plus, I bought a bunch of grey tees from Wal-Mart yesterday so I'm done shopping until Fall.

Feels good.

so far this is the only thing i've found that may remotely work....it comes in a few colors so i can choose something other than black if i want....

[Edited on June 4, 2013 at 4:03 PM. Reason : it's a "bridesmaid" dress from target...so i don't really consider it a bridesmaid dress ]

honestly I would stick with those darker colors...the lighter ones look cheap

the black, teal, purple all look like they may not have come from Target

My friend ordered a couple styles of their bridesmaid dresses for me to try for her wedding last fall. They looked pretty cheap in person so she sent them back.

I can't really pull off the chevron patterned chiffon shift dress....haha

Target stuff doesn't usually work for me so I wasn't heart set on that dress but it fits my style and probably body type

^^Not to be weird, but I think you got a great bod that would look awesome in a lot of things.

You should try a bunch of stuff on in person and reflect on how amazing you look.

I wanna go shopping

Also I have a decent relationship (or am working on it) with about 10 different boutiques thanks to the fashion shows I'm planning...so we can always hit them up
