I'd imagine Sidney's got 2 years left at the least. For next year it will be hard to compile this kind of record in the ACC, we set the bar real fucking low this year. So it shouldn't be too hard to improve on this years record, which should seal him in for his 4th year.

There are tons of candidates at the lower college levels begging for a chance at a big school that we didn't even look at. Fowler just tried to hit home runs instead of looking for a solid base hit. For every hire like Sidney Lowe, there is one like Bruce Pearl.

kentucky is probably the 5th best team(behind florida) and they are on the bubble right now

their OOC loses were pretty bad and their conference schedule favors them because they play a lot of bottom tier SEC teams

they need to win against florida AND atleast 1 or 2 games in the SEC tournament to be in]

Why should we believe he can? Honestly. Give me a reason.

We were predicted by nearly EVER media outlet out there to be in the Top 3 in the ACC and a sure fire NCAA Tourney team. We are dead fucking last in the ACC. Dead fucking last. It's been over a decade since we've been in that position. Look, I'm all for optimism but you have to be objective. I have seen nothing this year to show me we are even heading in the right direction at all... Mays and Williams are decent prospects but certainly not program lifters. We thought Hickson would be that type of player but he hasn't been despite being very, very good.

As far as pointing to Gillespie's struggles at Kentucky. Why do that? He has a PROVEN track record as a collegiate coach. Sidney Lowe does not. There is literally NO comparison between the two at this point.

Because he wears a red coat against our in-state rivals.

Because he managed to beat UNC the first time he coached against them.

Because he rode Costner's back to an ACC tourney run.

Because he played for State under Sidney Lowe.

Because he's shaped like Grimace.


Which means we can ignore the fact that:

He has no college coaching experience.

He had a horrible record as an NBA coach.

He was our 2,385th choice to be our head coach.

With the exception of a brief stretch at the end of last year, he hasn't shown anything as our coach.


That being said...he deserved at least one more year not to completely fuck up. But if we're in the same position next year...then get him the fuck out.

I guess the bottom line is that you can't get anything positive from his NBA coaching experience (aside from maybe his years as an assistant for the Pistons).

He had a HORRIBLE record as a head coach. He might have had a horrible team...but definitely never overachieved while he was coaching. So you can't take anything positive from his stint as head coach other than he got some "experience." Although it doesn't seem like it was good experience.
