third interview yesterday went really well ... fingers crossed that they get back to me soon. the pay is a little lower than what i was making in my last job - but the benefits (especially educational) will far outweigh the salary change....

and there's definitely room for me to grow there.

so this lady I emailed yesterday about a job called me while I was in the shower, I called her back and got her voicemail, I was too nervous to leave a message and hung up. I guess I'll call again in 5 minutes. I dont know why I got so nervous all of a sudden, my hands were shaking and my voice was going to crack... so weird.

Damn, so I called back 10 minutes later and got the voice mail and left her a message, grrrrrrrrrr

[Edited on November 5, 2010 at 3:25 PM. Reason : please call me back! I will be awesome in this job]

Don't lose sight of why you're going to do well. after you look for a while its hard to remain confident. I understand where you're coming from totally on that.

I got an equal opportunity form from a company that I sent my resume to. I filled it out and sent it back, however I haven't heard back from them. I checked the job hunting sites again and they posted the same job again. Was I not the right ethnicity / gender or something?

My company is looking for a person with experience in design of hydraulic systems. I can tell you more about the job and/or company through PM. Will also provide a link to the job posting.

Must have Pro/E experience and should have worked with sheet metal. Knowledge of GD&T is preferred.

I still can't believe I got hired. I've been doing some interview coaching lately, and who'd've thunk it I suck at interviewing. At least I'm getting some feedback on what I'm doing wrong.

interviewed for an associate position on november 10, hiring associate said i'd hear in a week or so. sent follow up/thank you email monday the 15, no response. didn't hear anything that week, called on the 22nd and spoke to the hiring associate to see if there were any updates. he said there were none. wished him a happy thanksgiving and i'd be keeping an eye out for an email/phone call the following week. still nothing today.

anyone wanna take bets on the likelihood this turns out positively/negatively for me?

I don't know. In my experience, when things get drawn out, it doesn't look too good. But who knows, they may be busy with work. Also, this is a very slow part of the year for interviewing/hiring due to the holidays and such.

^^ Vast majority of the time that turns out to be a negative. But the job I just got was one of the rare exceptions. They said they'd probably let me know within a week. I sent a couple of followup emails and didn't get a response at all. Not a word. Then a month later, I get a call and get offered. I had given up on it and was surprised as hell when he called me.

Even though I have a (part-time) job right now, I went ahead and went through with some interview coaching. I think it was worth it solely for the feedback after mock interviews. Turns out that I do plenty of things right, and am in better shape than I thought going in, but like the stereotypical engineering graduate that I am I need some polish with regards to presenting a positive, confident projection. It's worth it simply because you won't get one iota of feedback at a real interview, they'll just show you the door. If anybody's interested, I'll pm the contact info for the coach that I had.

(not unemployed, but this is a good thread for job stuff)

So, after applying to several different jobs to come back east (currently in Oklahoma), I have interviews set up for two different jobs! Never had that happen before. Anyways, for one of them I had the option of interviewing via phone or in person. I immediately went with the in-person interview, as one of the interview times was available during my Christmas vacation--is that always the best choice??

ha, I had 2 phone interviews, went a month without hearing anything, had given up on them and both called in the same week to set up in person interviews. Heard from one wanting to set up another interview with the President of the company a few weeks later and ended up getting an offer like a week after that. Got a call from the other job wanting to set up another interview my first week at the new job.

I'm thinking about moving to Charlotte. Am I better off to start applying for jobs before the move, or wait until I get there? I have a little money saved up so that shouldn't be an issue.

Always before you move...it would be silly to wait till you get here.

And don't bother looking for a place in Ballantyne...there's nothing available.

Well, I'm moving whether I find something or not. I'll get a part time job if I have to. I'm just wondering how much weight employers put on current location. I feel like a lot of my applications have been ignored because I don't live in the area.

I've got a friend that I can room with starting in January, 15 min from uptown Charlotte.

I have a job, but might be getting a better one....

Interviewed at the end of October with director's deputy (top 12 out of the 100 that applied got an interview, 2 positions, replacing retired people).

got called today for another interview with the hiring manager (director). Kinda feel good, they gave me only Friday and two times and there are two positions....hmmmm! Of course, they could of called others before me. I am hopeful that i will hear something next week!

The foundation I had an interview with yesterday just emailed me and invited me to a volunteer event they are having on Saturday, so that I can see and get a feel for what they do and how they manage their high school volunteers. I think that's a good sign!

Hopefully it'll be positive...if you're still searching as of early-mid January, my boss will still probably be looking to fill my position (I was gonna say fill my slot, then I held off and rephrased) when I leave. He'd probably start the transition period in mid-January since there are a few irons in the fire to get brought up to speed on.

Interview went extremely well, lasted about an hour, two ladies interviewed me, one of which just transfered to this department 2 weeks ago, so, she actually was asking the hiring manager questions along with myself. Not the least bit nervous with this interview. They stated I should know before Christmas. I also found out there were two additional positions going to be filed only the the two I was told about with the initial interview. They only interviewed 12 to begin with (when I interviewed a month and a half ago with the hiring manager's deputy). Seems to be pretty descent odds.

I was just offered a job!!!! I've been unemployed for so long! I have to move up north, to Philly but atleast I have family there. I just wanted to say, thank you internet people, without knowing it you helped support me when I was extremely depressed and thought I was going nowhere.
