i watched the first 20 mins and Liverpool looked horrendous. that being said, Wigan looked bad too. I was surprised to see Wigan win honestly, but I'm not complaining.

I think it has a lot more to do with how the US shows up to the game than the deterioration of England's squad before it. England could be missing half their starters and still beat us if we don't show up to play. Conversely, I still think we have a chance if both squads are healthy and our defense doesn't play like they're blindfolded.

i dont think england is any better than the US with half their starters gone. Englands B players are nothing to brag about. plus theyll have an english keeper who is bound to make a mistake

^^ oh we definitely have a chance, this isn't David v. Goliath or anything

I just think if

a) we go up a goal first - we'll sit back and hold out for a tie, and eventually give one up

b) it's tied going into the second half - we'll sit back and hold out for a tie, which may or may not happen

c) they score first - we aren't going to score two or three unanswered to win

basically, I think our team/coaching mindset will be 100% for a point. who knows, we might get something fluky and win but I doubt it

or davies will come off the bench and get a hat trick

THERE'S ONLY ONE CHARLIE DAVIES.

ONE CHARLIE DAVIES.

I hope he can get back to 100% and get a few Ligue 1 games in sometime within the next month. His hustle and speed is unmatched in the US squad.

Quote :
"Sources close to Beckham have revealed that while the former England captain is sympathetic to the fans' cause, which he demonstrated when picking up a green and gold scarf after the Champions League tie at Old Trafford , he will not become a figurehead for the Red Knights crusade to usurp the Glazers."

Why does a green and gold scarf mean he is on the fans' side?

Those owners have really run United into the ground. 3 straight league titles with a 4th possibly on the way? Back to back Champions League final appearances with one win? Back to back Carling Cups?

FUCK EM.

Now here's my $100 for a ticket so I can hold this banner up on the front row.

yep, Green & Gold were the original colors of Newton Heath L&YR FC, later shortened to Newton Heath FC

evidenced by the 3rd kits from 1992-94

Hull vs Arsenal was a good game today. Lots of physical play and action. Bendtner looked pretty good in the box all day, really surprised he only scored one considering a couple of other opportunities Arsenal had. Gotta hand it to Hull though, they looked much better than a team that will probably be relegated to Championship next year.

Argh. The Everton game had me . Look good for 30 minutes, go up 2-0, and then decide "fuck it, let's just wing it" and they end up with a draw.

yesss. those looks sweet. (yes, I lurk here a lot haha).

Also, this seemed as good a place as any to post this simply because it is silly but doesnt really deserve its own thread:

Quote :
"Rap mogul Sean Combs (a.k.a. Diddy) is considering embarking on one of his most ambitious projects to date - taking over beleaguered English football team Crystal Palace.
According to the Sun, Diddy is interested in the second-tier club... because he likes the name.

It quotes an unnamed source: "Diddy was in London meeting football fixers a couple of weeks ago. The finance is in place, he's just deciding who he thinks he'll make a bid for."

The source added: "He could cover their [Crystal Palace] debt and bankroll a return to the Premier League."

Gigwise received confirmation of the reports from Diddy's spokesperson."

And then a separate article:

Found this comment on Football365.com and wondered what TWW had to say about it:

Quote :
""Its funny how people on here post comments about Liverpool being in decline because they are 5th in the league, how they are a little team because they are in the Europa League (does that make Juventus little too?), how their top players will leave during the summer, and their fans are delusional and live in the past. However it is just a cycle. I recall Mr Knighton trying to purchase Manchester United for £18-20m in 1989 and Manchester United fans being supportive of the idea as they regarded MUFC as the biggest team in England, the most 'romanticised' club in the world. But in 1989 MUFC has not won a league title for 22 years, nor the European Cup for 21 years in addition England's biggest club had won only 7 league titles and 1 European Cup whereas LFC at that time had celebrated their 17th league title the year before and had won their 4th European Cup (placing them 2nd to Real Madrid) just 5 years prior. So it is no surprise that LFC fans remain 'arrogant' and regard their club as a big club (despite the opinion of sparks) because no English team has won more league or European titles than LFC. Even MUFC fans were vocal 20 years ago then surely LFC fans cannot be criticised for being just as vocal for real achievements. Anyway it doesn't take much to create a football team - Chelsea are an example - but it takes a long time to create an institution and world wide respect, plus a vast trophy cabinet - Liverpool being an example.""

Manchester United clearly possesses a consistent title-winning gait that is unmatched in any sport, while setting the standard for what every single club on the planet should aspire to be.

Fulham just scored 3 unanswered to come back from a 4-1 deficit against Juventus

and they have about 40 minutes with a man advantage to win it in regular time
