I tried the one-month trial last month. I think it's better than Netflix.

The only thing I can think of that would be comparable to Netflix in a way that you'd say one is better than the other and there's usually a 1-month trial is Redbox Instant. Mayb Hulu plus?

But, i too, am curious.

I wonder if he posted that in the wrong thread and will never see these questions.

the acting and dialogue was really good, especially the owner of the company. definitely the weirdest part was when the dude tried to show his lady what he "created"

Secrets of the Dead: Churchill's Deadly Decision

Great short PBS documentary on Churchill's decision to basically slaughter French Navy vessels and troops to prevent the Nazis from acquiring the French fleet.

man, I've been meaning to watch that for about 2 years now. The last time I went to do so, the first one wasn't on there.

Are all three going to be on there through the end of Saturday? If so... I think I can make it happen between now and then.

Any of you people watch Netflix on the ps3? We didn't get the Max update or the profile update. Are we having a technical issue or have they not pushed it to all machines yet?

just watched ABC's of death.

there's a lot of garbage but some gems as well. It finishes with 3 or 4 solid segments in a row.

most surprising is Ti West's (House of the Devil, The Innkeepers) total dud which reeks of gross laziness.

My faves were E, F, J, K, L, O, Q, T, X, Y

^i found it funny that he got into gunfights against 12 guys with machine guns and they would patiently wait to get shot one at a time. the 4 shot guitar case rocket launcher that you could reload by shaking the case handle also brought some lols.

House of the Devil got good scores but when we sat down to watch it I was getting pissed off. Seriously get on with that shit. 10 mins of watchable material in it. I don't want to watch a girl walking around a house, staring out of windows, and dancing around with a walkman for an hour and a half. I didn't feel any Hitchcock like suspense or terror at all.

I think you are missing the point, sir. The director is aware of all of that. It's meant to be a little campy. It wasn't a failed attempt at being more serious or realistic. It sounds like maybe you thought it was trying to more serious than it was. it was meant to be of a similar tone... over the top awesomeness that is just so ridiculous that it's great.

Desperado was written and directed by the Robert Rodriguez. The same guy who made Machete.. with Danny Trejo who was also in Desperado. The same guy who made Planet Terror (part of Grindhouse which was made wit Tarantino, who is in Desperado) where Rose McGowan used a fully functional (in the movie anyhow) assault rifle in place of a prosthetic leg. As in, she literally just grabbed it and shoved it unto her nub (no reason that should work) and was then able to fire it without touching it. He directed Sin City.. obviously he didn't write that, but quite over the top in tone.

This is meant to be over the top and ridiculous in some ways. It was just more subdued than the examples I listed, so maybe it wasn't as obvious.

EXACTLY.. that is so ridiculous that it's awesome. And so is Enrique Iglesias with a machine gun guitar case. Not to mention the ridiculous stance the guy gut into when using the rocket launcher.

Derek, another netflix orginal series starts tomorrow

Quote :
"Ricky Gervais, creator of the original British version of "The Office," produces and stars in this heartwarming comedy-drama as Derek Noakes, a loyal English nursing home caretaker who sees only the good in everyone. Derek's sunny outlook comes in handy with his quirky coworkers and friends as they struggle against prejudice, government bureaucracy, and constantly shrinking budgets to care for the elderly residents who depend on them."
