Correct me if I'm wrong, but if we were to land Randle tomorrow would that not put us at the #2 recruiting class? With his boy Purvis over here blowing it up, us beating undefeated Duke, and lots of playing time available with Howell, Wood, Brown, and Leslie all departing at the end of the year, why would he go anywhere else? Based on this logic, I declare Randle to NC State as my stone cold lock

of

the

century.

I really really really like Washington. With Howell and CJL leaving next year, we're really going to need a post player with decent offensive skills...and that's him. His game is eerily similar to Marcus Melvin's...lefty and all.

^ Goodwin, Poythress, Noel, and even Cauley-Stein will probably all go in the first round if they leave after this year. They started off struggling, but a lot of that wasn't their fault...it was having a shitty Harrow at the point and Julius Mays as their best shooter. The freshmen have played pretty well for the most part. Now that Harrow is getting better, they will slowly make their way back into the rankings and will probably end the regular season in the top 15/20.

So actually....No.

i liked what i saw out of washington in that video. which is not surprising b/c it's a highlight video, but he looks like he thinks when he plays, can score in different ways and plays angry. i like all of those things in a basketball player.

jbrick, they only won against a horrible Vandy team last night due to a horrible call. I'm not sure what good you see in this 'great team'. They may be great players, but there is some horrible chemstry issues with this team that likely arent going to work their way out.

^ surely you jest.

Kentucky should finish above everyone in the SEC except Florida and possibly Missouri / Mississippi.

By the end of the season Kentucky will definitively be a top 25 team if not a top 10.

Ok you edited out the part where you said they might not make the tournament.

I don't jest. They are midway through the season, and barely escaped a HORRIBLE loss. And they only did that with the help of a bad call from a ref. And the SEC is currently rated worse than the ACC. Saying they come in second to Florida isn't exactly saying a lot.

I was going to say 'I wouldn't be surprised' if they didnt make the tournament, because I think this is a team that could fall apart. In retrospect, they likely will, but no way will they be in the Top 10.

There are just too many quality teams with only 1 loss.

And according to Sagarin, they have the 230'd hardest schedule and they've already picked up 4 losses.

^^ College basketball is horrible this year. Another reason why Kentucky ending up in the top 15 is pretty accurate.

I already state that Kentucky struggled early because of Harrow playing shitty and them not having another viable point guard. Cal tried to make Goodwin serviceable...but it's just not in his DNA. That guy is a SG through and through. He also tried to have Mays run some point...and we all know what that is like. After that, there was the white boy walk-on who gave them some energy in the Maryland game...but that's about it.

Harrow is playing well and now Kentucky is playing well. No one is saying they are a national title contender...but they've got tons of talent and they will win a lot of games in the SEC...propelling them back into the rankings. Don't forget that the media loves them, so it's pretty easy to move up as long as you consistently win games (Duke/UNC style). And their four losses have been to pretty good teams.

oh I definitely wouldn't want to run up on their lineup especially if they get things together, still have more talent than 99% of the country.

Like I said, Kentucky is not good. Another loss. To an unranked Texas A&M.

Do you still want to hold to your guns that its ridiculous to think Kentucky might not make the dance this year? No way they end up in the top 15. Not with 5 losses now. And they are guaranteed 2 more with games with Florida.

Well, we couldnt have asked Kentucky to implode more to make NC State more attractive. At the beginning of the year, with Kentucky ranked so high, I was dubious.

it's also shown that you're not automatically going to cruise on the best team in the country just b/c you go to UK. which is important to know if you're julius randle.

Kentucky will always be ranked high. For some reason Calipari has become the most popular coach in the media. They all LOVE him. He is personable but they'll defend him to the death and rank them as high as they can.

Next year's class is going to be sick, though. I'd still say Randle goes there simply to be a part of it.

Cat Barber has these skills. ."

I actually agree with this. Chris Paul comes to mind. It's not his speed that blows you away. In fact, I'd say CP3 has just average athleticism when it comes to NBA PGs. It's his ability to change gears in the middle of the lane, or stop on a dime and hit a floater that makes him impossible to defend.

Barber seems to have this kind of control with the ball. If he's not starting by ACC play over Lewis, I'll be surprised.

Brown could come back (and probably should if his perimeter shooting doesn't sky rocket in ACC play).

I'm really rooting for Tyler, but I'm just not seeing it. He ceiling is very very low. I think he can contribute in a back-up role next year, but I'm not sure he'd be willing to hang around for that.

As far as Brown, he's gonna be gone if we finish the year strong. Remember he spent a year at Hargrave Military Academy before coming to State, so he's probably ready to move on ... especially if CJ leaves, as expected.

I think Lewis will greatly benefit greatly from a year of S&C. If he is able to put on a few pounds of solid muscle he'll be much more able to contribute. He just doesn't look physically ready for ACC caliber players at this point.

Yeah, I said earlier this year to somebody while watching a game that in an ideal situation Lewis could redshirt this season, but our depth is so bad he can't. This year will be a valuable learning experience for him, hopefully he can develop a bit physically.

I'm not exactly sure what strength and conditioning are going to do for him. What the kid needs to work on his hitting shots. You can't be 5'8", unathletic, and a bad shooter. Right now he's treated like the fat kid who just gets dared to shoot it because you know he'll miss.

he's done pretty much exactly what i expected him to do. his only role is to give brown a breather or back him up if he gets in foul trouble. so far, brown hasn't gotten into foul trouble too many times, but it's going to happen some. and like almost all players, especially most all-americans who aren't one-and-dones, he'll get better next year.

At least when he misses we seem to often get the offensive rebound since they know to go hard due to the likely outcome

I remember a few putbacks by Leslie, anyway.

I still think Lewis can be a solid player in the years to come. It isn't often a freshman excels at point guard, there are usually only a few each year that are stars.
